We have fully renovated the unit as of December 2013, and decorated it in a Hawaiian motif. We've installed new all wood cherry kitchen cabinets, granite counter tops, appliances, and kitchen utensils. Along with new paint throughout the condo. Both bathrooms have been upgraded along with most of the furnishings.

The Condo is on the second floor easily cooled by the trade winds, it's quite private tucked away in the corner of the resort in building #8 apartment 202. The condo is spacious at 818 sq ft and the lanai is 166 sq ft, the majority of lanai's in Kamaole Sands are only 69 sq ft. It is away from the noise of the inner court and South Kihei Road. We're at the east end of the building, very close to the stairs and far enough away from the elevator so you are not disturbed by anyone coming or going. Your assigned parking spot is nearby.

The unit has free WiFi, cable TV, a blue ray player, Netflix, and CD/FM stereo for entertainment, along with a lending library of books and games. It's fully furnished with a 52 inch ceiling fan and A/C in the living/dining area.

The bedroom has a queen size mattress, 52 inch ceiling fan, 28 inch flat screen TV, and a safe for your valuables. The fully upgraded master bath has new cabinets with granite top, and a full tub/shower.

There is beach friendly tile throughout the condo, the living area has A/C, a new sofa sleeper, 50 inch LCD flat screen TV, blue ray player, cable TV, Netflix, and a CD/FM stereo.

The guest bathroom has a new glass shower enclosure, new cabinets with granite top and the washer/dryer nearby.

The bright kitchen is newly renovated with all wood cherry cabinets, granite counter tops, and a large island with bar stools. It's equipped with new appliances, range, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer with ice maker, many cooking utensils, and other accessories along with a variety of spices, etc. The outdoor barbecues are just a short walk away. The dining area is well lit and has a new rattan dining set.

The condo has a large private lanai, 166 sq. ft. which easily accommodates 4 or more people, the majority of lanais in Kamaole Sands are only 69 sq. ft. From the lanai you get a view of the volcano Haleakela and a peek-a-boo view if the ocean. It's a perfect place to enjoy a great cup of Hawaiian coffee in the morning or to sun tan privately in the afternoon. The lanai easily accommodates a family of 4+ for meals and has a cabinet stocked with beach chairs, umbrella, mats, coolers, and kids toys for your use during your time at Kamaole 3 beach just a three to four minute walk from your condo door. Unfortunately due to liability issues we are unable to supply any water-sport gear.

A one weeks supply of laundry, and dish washer soap is provided along with toilet paper, when this runs out you are responsible to provide your own.

If you decide to stay remember the morning information session by the pool after you arrive, and the Mai Tai party on Wednesday's from 3-4:45 pm.

We are a semi retired couple living in the country 50 km (30mi) south of Edmonton Alberta Canada.

While vacationing at Kamaole Sands in March 2012 we fell in love with Maui and this resort so we decided to purchase a condo here in order to enjoy all that Maui has to offer more often.

Why Wayne Westendorf or Barb Glaser chose Maui

The amenities at the Kamaole Sands Resort are some of the best and well cared for in Kihei, maybe the whole island of Maui. Over the past 10 years we have traveled a lot to the Caribbean and Central America, Maui tops all those destinations. The one bedroom condos here are spacious, bright, and ours has a large lanai (166 sq. ft. ) so more than 2 people can be very comfortable on it. We looked at many complexes in Kihei before purchasing a condo and in our opinion none compared to Kamaole Sands.

What makes this condo unique

Our condo is secluded, relaxing, and quiet, on the second floor in building #8 away from the street noise of South Kihei Road and the busy parts of the resort. Being across the street from Kamaole 3 Beach Park is one of the best features of our unit, a 3 to 4 minute walk gets you to a safe sandy bottom beach with a lifeguard, it's great for swimming, snorkeling, boogie boarding, taking long walks, or just laying in the sun. Kamaole 3 Beach Park also has bathrooms, showers, swings for the kids, plenty of shade, picnic tables, outdoor grills and acres of grass to enjoy.

Just a short walk from the resort are great restaurants and shops, a short drive away are the golf courses and upscale shops at Wailea. A 20 minute drive gets you to Kahului whether it's to and from the airport, or finding most anything you need in the small shops, Saturday swap meet, or big box stores like Costco and Home Depot.

There are so many things to do on the island of Maui it's hard to list them all. Hawaiian luau's, pedal biking down the volcano, zip lining, helicopter sight seeing, whale watching, snorkeling, swimming with turtles, and driving the road to Hana are but a few. Our condo is centrally located and works great for a home base to enjoy it all. Everything you need for a great holiday, and great weather too, our condo at Kamaole Sands Resort and the island of Maui has it all.

The host was great. The unit was as pictured and we had a fantastic time. It was great to have beach towels, boogie boards, beach mats, beach chairs and so on. Really had a fantastic experience and at a great value. Wayne and Barb were fantastic hosts and when we had issues they were dealt with very quickly ( A leaky hose out of the laundry was fixed in a day once Wayne and Barb found out). Kids loved it too, but be forewarned they have so much fun at the pool they won't want to go. The pool offers Foosball, Ping Pong and many books.

Our stay in this condo was excellent! We especially loved the updated kitchen and island. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need. The large lanai is also a real plus and great for entertaining. The condo includes beach chairs, a large umbrella, cooler and beach toys. We loved our stay!

Nice Condo but Bed was an issue - to be rectified

Enjoyed the location of the condo within the complex as it is located near the end of the "bridge" and therefore much quieter and you also get the late afternoon sun on large lanai. Kitchen was well stocked and clean. Only big issue with the condo was an extremely hard bed. We stayed for one month and my husband slept uncomfortably on the sofa. We purchased a foamy and but blankets on bed so I could sleep there. We believe the owner is going to purchase a tempurpedic topper to rectify this situation. If so, we would enjoy staying there again. Payment for condo and reimbursement for damage deposit was easy. Sound like nice owners. Manager, Carol, was very conscientious dealing with any issues that arose and is a real asset to the owner. As prior owners ourselves, we understand how difficult it can be to keep abreast of things without a capable manager.

Perfect place for fun and relaxation.

It was easy to have a great time at this beautiful condo. It is spacious inside and on the balcony/lanai, updated, and with all the amenities. Owners are very helpful and even helped us work out a kink that was self inflicted without issue.

We recently stated in Barb and Wayne's unit in Building 8 at Kamaole Sands. We visited Maui quite a bit and always choose the Kamaole complex for our stay. This unit is completely updated and well stocked. The unit is in a quiet location with little foot traffic walking by the front. The BBQ area is close by and not crowed during meal times. Wayne and Barb were easy to deal with, answering email messages as promised. Payment through the VRBO system was a seamless. We recommend this unit to anyone looking for a home while visiting Maui.

Christmas in Maui

We had another fabulous time in Maui, our suite was perfectly stocked with everything we could have possibly needed. The kitchen was stocked like I was at home, there was an abundance of recreational equipment, books, dvd's, and games. I would highly recommend this suite/owners, perfect vacation location.

Excellent home away from home in Building 8

Our most recent stay at Kamaole Sands was in Barb & Wayne's, clearly lovingly cared for, unit in Building 8. The unit was in excellent shape, and looked exactly like what you see in the photos. Really nice upgrades have been done throughout, and the kitchen was extremely well equipped, making it easy for us to make this our home away from home. Lots of beach towels & "accessories" (boogie boards/chairs/snorkel etc.) were also provided, and we really appreciated the extra homey touches (board games, movies & books) found throughout. A really nice addition to this unit is the extra large lanai, and its sun exposure. Being on the 2nd floor, there wasn't much of an ocean view (but still a tiny bit of one), the lanai's size and south facing lanai meant for sun most of the day, which we loved! Another nice bonus of this unit was how the trade winds hit the building, making it one of the cooler units we have stayed in. By just leaving the front door and lanai door open, and keeping the fans on, we were able to enjoy our time at home without a/c.

We would also like to give a big shout out to Barb & Wayne, who were super easy to communicate with throughout the whole booking process, and who provided great support leading up to our trip. This was not our first time staying at Kamaole Sands, and so we were already quite familiar with the area. It was nice to see though that the complex is still maintaining its high standard, with the bbq pits and pool being always well taken care of. And "Mai Tai Wednesday" (free mai tai's by the pool every wednesday from 3:00 - 4:45) is always fun! Mahalo Barb & Wayne, for making your Hawaii home so welcoming!
