Mouth of the Rappahannock River where it meets the Chesapeake Bay.
Welcome to White Stone in the beautiful Northern Neck of Virginia! Our house is located on Windmill Point, at the mouth of the Rappahanock River on its northern bank, where it meets the Chesapeake Bay. We know you will enjoy your family vacation on the banks of the Rappahanock River. Here you will find a stay that is very private 2.5 acres of land, with 250 feet of water frontage, 150 feet of sandy beach, a dock for fishing and jumping, a half basketball court, corn-toss, fire pit, and plenty of room to play. We can sleep 10, we have three bedrooms (two with queen size beds, and a bunk room with two bunkbeds, and a futon. Two bathrooms, and a spacious outdoor shower.
From our beach, the river is five miles wide, directly across from Deltaville, and a quarter mile northwest of the Chesapeake. Our 2.5 acres of land boasts 250 feet of shoreline, a private sandy beach, a dock, a waverunner lift, a basketball court, and enough room to toss around a football, frisbee, baseball, lacrosse ball, or anything else that flies. We have two sea kayaks available for your use, as well as a paddle board, and you are welcome to bring your own sunfish, waverunner, windsurfer, or other beach toys that will enhance your vacation. But don’t worry about bringing your own beach chairs or beach umbrella – we got that covered!
No slimy sand on our beach – at low tide with the slow sloping beach an adult can walk 100 plus yards off the shore and still be standing. Bring your own waverunner and put it on our lift to use at your leisure without having to tow in and out with each use. We often have schools of dolphins in the river, particularly during the late summer. Tall pines on the front yard (river facing) provide excellent shade in the afternoon if you need a break from the sunny beach to play a game of corn toss, or to set up the fire for the evening in the fire pit to sample some smores with the kids. Catch some fish off of the dock, or, if you are as bad as we are at fishing, drive in the morning to the commercial fisherman up the road to get some flounder fresh from his morning catch. Try throwing some bait in our crab trap (chicken necks often work) and with some luck you may be eating blue crabs for dinner. Enjoy your morning coffee on the outdoor patio, play card games on the front screen porch, take an overexposed picture of the spectacular sunsets, or just kick back with a cold refreshing drink and let the summer day just stretch on!
Walk to the Pelican Bar/Restaurant on the water to catch a live band on a Saturday night, head up the road to Irvington to catch breakfast at the Tide’s Inn, from there sample some local wine and oysters at the Dog and Oyster, head into Kilmarnock for some antique and specialty shops. Hit the links at either Golden Eagle or King Carter golf course, each about 10 country miles away (if you are used to waiting to take a shot at a crowded city course, prepare for having the course to yourself). Take a day trip to Busch Gardens, historic Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown, Richmond (each between 1 and 1.5 hours), Virginia Beach (2 hours), or even Washington D.C. (2.75 hours). We know you will have a fantastic vacation at an affordable price.

About Jenelle Hatch
John and Jenelle have been married 17 years and have four wonderful sons. We are a very athletic family and have come to love being at the river and all it has to offer. Last year (2012) our life took us from Arlington, VA to Austin, TX. We are now not able to spend as much time at the river and would like to share it with others. Our kids have spent the last five summers here, attending sailing and baseball camp, wakeboarding, water-skiing, tubing, and just playing in the water. The kids have also enjoyed catching rockfish, flounder, and spot off the pier. Crab pot off the dock too. I'm sure you will enjoy it just as much as we have.
Jenelle Hatch purchased this House in 2008

Fabulous rivah property, well kept....great view, private, great owners
I can't say enough about this home. The view, the fire pit, the dock, the sandy beach, everything. It is so relaxing, well equipped and perfectly hospitable. It has character, with some modern updates. We caught a rockfish right off the dock, enjoyed beautiful sunsets, went to a local farmers market, steamed crabs, shucked oysters, you name it....we did it. If you are looking to get away and relax, this is the home for you.
We're so happy you enjoyed your stay, it truly is a special property! Please come and see us again sometime!
Homey, comfortable, spacious, beautiful location!
The house and grounds were perfect for us. The house is not modern or fancy but very nice and comfortable as well as a really nice design. The grounds are spacious and include a basketball net/standard that was adjustable for height which was perfect for our little guy. The living room with fireplace was so cozy as well as spacious and we loved the screen/sun porch facing the water. We loved how private it was due to the beautiful trees and tall grasses. The hosts seem to hold nothing back in terms of letting us use equipment such as their games, balls, bats etc. There was a really nice road just the opposite way off the main road (called Bay Water I believe) for walking our dog. We would like to return again some day.
GREAT STAY AT THE COVE ON WINDMILL POINT
Sit back and watch the sun set over the churning waves.
Stroll along the sandy beach as the surf ebbs and flows.
Fish off the pier at the juncture of the river and bay.
Enjoy a modern house that beams with great energy.
The Cove at Windmill Point in White Stone, Virginia, is a stay you will not forget. The comfortable house has all the modern conveniences and the backyard is the Rappahannoc River and Cheasapeak Bay. The nearby towns are full shops, eateries and histroic sites and the wineries also serve crab and oysters. The exceedingly helpful owners are a phone call away as is the nearby caretaker. Can't wait for our return trip.
Well maintained, very comfortable older cottage with fantastic setting.
Three friends and I rented the Hatch cottage for the second of what has become an annual rockfishing (aka, striped bass) trip. It is located on the Rappahannock side of Windmill Point, a 5 minute drive from a free boat launch. We kept our boat at the cottage dock - so convenient! The living area is large and comfortable, the kitchen a bit small but has all the necessities. The queen beds are very comfortable. We could not figure out the TV, or connect the Roku to the house WiFi, instructions would have helped. I've been looking at property in the area, and was especially impressed with how they have armored the shoreline with boulders, allowed the natural vegetation to grow on the dunes for further stabilization, and kept a wooded or vegetated border on all sides. It is truly well thought out, natural landscaping. My friends were really impressed with the view of the river and bay. Although we did not use them, the Hatch's provided games, kayak, and I believe a jet ski. We also ate at Merroir just across the Rt. 3 bridge - very good! And the fishing was great! One caution - I would not trailer a boat larger than 18 ft into the house due to a bit of a windy road.
Cute Cottage & Great Location
We had a great stay and the cottage is well equipped. The view is fabulous and the sunsets don’t get any better! Thanks!
Loved it !
My wife and I and our two dogs spent our disconnect week at the rivah house. It was exactly as described. The property was beautiful and very peaceful and plenty big for our dogs to run without getting out of site. The beach was perfect nice sand and the water was just right even though we had a few days of wind which roughed up the water some. The dogs loved fetching the ball all day and swimming. We loved the outside deck by the water you can enjoy the beach without getting sand in your shoes! Fished off the pier but didn't catch anything. Even though we did not go there to play tourist we did do a few things in the area. If you're into history go see historic Christ Church that was cool. the house was very nice even though we did not spend much time in there other then the porch facing the river. The bed we slept in was very nice. The bathrooms have been updated recently and the kitchen was set up nice. It had everything you need to prepare your meals. I'm a grilling person so I always mention something about the grill these homes have for other guests to know. They have a nice Weber gas grill nothing crazy huge but clean and it worked great! We are already planning our trip for next year!! Thanks Jenelle for opening your lovely home to us!
