This beautiful space has every single thing you need and is placed perfectly in the middle of the jungle with an ocean view, the pictures are great but the real thing is indescribable. We spent lots of time admiring and absorbing the nature around us...waking up to toucans chattering and flying about with howler monkeys howling fiercely in the background and the most amazing purple sunset the our last night. The house was everything you can imagine and more, the artwork work and the views were my favorite part. Comfortable beds, quality towels and linens (that's important to us as we usually carry our own linens and did not even use them) and plenty of them. Kitchen stocked with all the utensils needed to cook any meal. Cynthia and Karol really did make this vacation come together perfectly for us. Upon arrival Cynthia came over and went through the bible (information, tours and restaurant booklet) with us. Gave us plenty of suggestions and we tried as many as we could ...every one was on point. Citrus was our favorite restaurant, we visited twice. All the food was amazing and fresh. We did the Whale watching tour and got to experience a momma and her baby ..unforgettable! The ATV ride was our absolute favorite. I'm approaching 50 and have arthritis in my thumbs so I wasn't sure if I could do it for 4 hours but the guys at Jungle ATV tours where phenomenal!! They made let me know that I could stop at any point and jump in with them and just enjoy the view but I honestly could not stop despite any pain I was feeling. Driving on the dirt road with all the bumps and steep incline and declines, the view of the mountains peaks and valleys, the waterfalls...it was breathtaking. And then we stopped at the coffee plantation where we met Don Julio and his family..we left feeling like family. The ATV guys told the them it was my wife's birthday and surprised us with a banana orange cake ...imagine the best banana bread you've ever had with a hint of citrus..delish!!! It had a candle and they sang happy birthday..we were just touched deeply by them all. And we sure didn't buy enough of their amazing coffee..to die for really!! And Karol arranged all of our tours, she was super informative, attentive and available for any questions or concerns. She helped us surprise our spouses with massages and a private chef right after the ATV rides and she even delivered a beautiful cake for us! Honestly look no further everything about this place is perfect!!!
Beautiful home on the southern pacific coast. There was six of us total. Gorgeous views and beautifully appointed home. We had chef Chino come cook for us on two separate occasions and he was excellent! Make sure to take advantage of the private beach access. Absolutely gorgeous beach with a swimming hole that is perfect for kids to explore. This home is close to the BM supermarket and many bars and restaurants nearby.
Exceeded all expectations
Our family of five rented this house and everything from start to finish was exceptional. The views are unbelievable and the house is very comfortable and in a wonderful location. We loved the beach and visited every day with the boogie boards and chairs provided. It was five minutes by car and so easy. Our teenage boys had so much fun in the waves.
All of the restaurants recommended by Cynthia were fantastic and the excursions Karol arranged were awesome. Uvita and the surrounding area are beautiful, laid back and friendly. Absolutely nothing negative to say!
We stayed at this property for five nights and highly recommend it to all those considering a stay in Uvita. It is perfectly located and the ambience and surroundings is like no other! We have been vacationing in Costa Rica for years and this was our first time venturing south of Manuel Antonio. Put simply, we have found our annual retreat in this fabulous villa. With views that go forever and wildlife that greets you each morning and bids a night farewell each evening. The private beach access is a an unexpected treat that we indulged in for daily walks and daylong entertainment using the boogey boards that were provided with the villa. Cynthia was the best concierge ensuring we were well taken care of and attending to our every question and need. Don’t let this one pass by. Book now and experience complete and total pura vida, We can’t wait to return!
It was a pleasure meeting Karol, she help us with any questions we had towards to house and how to use some of the equipment and the Pool.
And, I’m already sharing my Great time and experience there and want a return trip back. We had the most pleasant experience, it was unforgettable. The best thing about it was coming home (Meaning Casa de Aves) after a long day at the beach, the Waterfalls, hiking for a dip at the Pool and looking down the shore's Sunset. We will be Back!!
Thank you Karol,
Trip of a Lifetime
Where do we begin? This was our first trip to CR and we fell in love with the country. The location is perfect and we were able to go zip lining and horseback riding to a waterfall with a short drive. The house has an AMAZING view and access to a nearly private beach. The beach served as the backdrop for our intimate wedding. The photographer and officiant both agreed it was the most beautiful, secluded beach they had seen in CR. Karol, the host, was kind enough to hand pick flowers for my bouquet when our florist fell through. The hosts gave us our privacy, but were close in the event we needed anything. Further, Karol responded very quickly via WhatsApp any time we messaged her. We felt very safe, as the house is in a gated community and equipped with a home security system, but didn't feel the need to use the system. If you are renting a vehicle, a 4x4 is required, but that is the case with most properties in CR. I can't recommend this place enough and we have already begun discussing our return. Many thanks to Karol and Cynthia for hosting us on your lovely property!
The Southern Zone of Costa Rica is known for its laid back vibe and three of the most magical towns in Costa Rica: Dominical, Ojochal, and Uvita. Rainforests, legendary surf spots, long stretches of beaches, an abundance of rich terrain and a laid-back atmosphere define this area. It’s a rare place on earth. While development has picked up recent years due to improved roadways and access to the area, the development and conservation regulations ensure this area will never become a noisy resort town with overbearing skyscrapers.
Along the Costa Ballena lie Dominical, Uvita, and Ojochal. These three Southern Zone coastal towns are off the radar hot spots. Dominical is a legendary surf spot. Uvita is a commercial center. Ojochal is a small village in the jungle. Deep blue waters meet the towering mountains and green jungles forming a breathtaking landscape that is raw, pure and clean. This is a place for adventurers and those seeking a more laid-back lifestyle.
Area excursions include whale and dolphin tours, zip lining and canopy tours, scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, hiking, Nauyaca Falls, world-famous beaches, surfing, wildlife tours, river rafting, sea kayaking, paddle boarding, bird watching, golf, photography, horseback riding, festivals, and more. The Dominical/Uvita area also offers various yoga classes, retreats, and spas.
Dominical attracts surfers from around the world each year to its legendary waves. The waters here are not for swimming and the waves are legendary. Making the trek to Dominical is a surfer’s pilgrimage. This haven beyond its legendary surf is an attractive laid-back village with a few restaurants and shops. Surrounded by estuaries, mangroves, and marshes, the area has an abundance of wildlife. It’s now home to an estimated 700 residents. The pristine environment and warm culture draw surfers and eco-tourists. With lots of yoga and various types of holistic health practitioners mixing with the local culture harmoniously, it is a beacon for wellness. Vegan, raw food, and juicing are common here. Those seeking to live a more sustainable lifestyle flock here. In Dominical, there is time to reflect and just be.
Ojochal is a popular landing spot for expats from North America and Europe. It has grown into a culinary hot spot too. This coastal town is just 30-minutes south of Dominical. With hotels, restaurants, bars, doctors’ offices and a supermarket, it is a low-key Costa Rica town complete with the conveniences of modern life making it an ideal place to visit. With ATV tours, canopy tours, bird watching and mangroves to explore, there is no shortage of adventures and activities. For surfing, there is Playa Ballena and Playa Uvita nearby.
Nestled in between Dominical and Ojochal along the Costa Ballena is magical Uvita. This town has a large supermarket and is probably the most developed area of the three places. Scuba diving, horseback riding, canopy tours and wildlife tours are all nearby. Uvita has grown famous for the hosting the annual music festival, the Envision Festival, which celebrates art, culture, yoga and sustainability each year in February. People flock to this small town in Costa Rica each year for the festival, which draws large crowds.
The magic and charm of these three towns lie in the quiet sustainable development, which protects the pristine ecosystems while also providing a level of comfort. The culture is laid back, health conscious and committed to well-being. There are few places left in the world that can match what the Southern Zone offers as a quiet refuge from the modern world for adventure, fun, and restoration.
