Los Angeles County Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 4

This stunning contemporary stand-alone studio with sleeping alcove is just steps from Venice Beach. It has a spectacular loft ceiling, hardwood floors and small kitchenette. Located in a prime location, tucked away just 50 yards off the famous Venice boardwalk and the beach, it is nonetheless still extremely private and quiet. This one-of-a-kind 500sf home was written up in the LA Times and the NY Times for its architectural merit. It is also featured in the coffee table book "Small Urban Interiors".

The adventure begins with the unique entrance. You approach up a set of stairs and across a redwood bridge to your private front door. Enter into a room filled with light streaming through the many carefully placed windows and skylights. A set of French doors opens to a balcony facade with side ocean view. The angles worked into the design allow light to playfully fill the space. The cathedral beam ceiling soars to 18ft. The floors are of clear fir hardwood. An L-shaped, built in desk doubles as a dining table and can seat three. The small kitchenette has two stainless mini-refrigerators, microwave, sink, and hot plate. The living area has a 50" 3-D flat screen TV with DVD player and a 7ft. sleeper sofa which opens to a queen size bed. In the evening, multiple dimmers and lighting options allow guests to choose among multiple lighting moods.

A step up leads to the sleeping area, which can be closed off from the rest of the studio with curtains to block out the light for sleeping on the comfortable full sized bed dressed with high count linens. The large bathroom contains a step in tiled shower with rain shower head and a pedestal sink.

The studio also has high speed wireless internet, a thermostat controlled wall heater, and private phone for exclusive guest use, with free unlimited local and long-distance domestic calls. There is a laundry room on the premises. Exit the property and you are 50 paces from the center of the boardwalk and the beach.

As most beach properties along the California Coastline, this property is not equipped with an A/C unit. With average beach temperatures ranging from 65 to 75 degrees year round, air conditioning is not generally needed in our beach areas. For our warmer days, each of our beach properties is equipped with portable ventilator fans which, when combined with open windows, allow the fresh ocean air to circulate and cool your property to a very pleasant temperature.

Reviewer Comments:

The architectural studio was a great feel good space. The sun through the sky lights was delightful. Easy to walk to Santa Monica pier or the Venice Canals. Easy drive to the Getty Museums and more. The bed was comfortable. My only reservation was the hot plate for cooking. We like to cook. It was doable, just awkward. When we first arrived, the floors were not clean. The property management sent someone out right away to take care of it. Would stay again.

Reviewer Comments:

The apartment is very stylish and comfortable. The location is great, steps from the Pacific. Being at the beach, we walked the beach, with outings for some meals. We especially liked Zinque's happy hour that featured small plates as well as drinks. And the breakfast at Three Squares with pastries from their bakery next door. We also went to the Getty Villa -- well-worth the short drive, and even had lunch on their terrace. My sister was with me, and we wanted to sleep separately, one of us on the wide couch. There were no linens for the couch, and I called Global for linens. Sheets were delivered but no blanket. I called again and a blanket was delivered and the tv, which for us was indiosyncratic, was fixed so we could watch it. Some of the amenities listed in the Global book were not in the apartment, including extra linens, towels, beach towels, and things under the kitchen sink, if needed. I'd read about the NYTimes article on the apartment that said there were sweeping views of the ocean, which was what I'd expected. Instead, buildings had since grown up that blocked all views except of other buildings. As a result, all the windows except the skylight are frosted, so the apartment has quite an enclosed feeling. The bathroom is large and light, and the living area also gets good illumination during the day through frosted glass and the skylight, and at night the interior lighting is excellent in all the rooms. There is no parking space, so that means paying attention to street signs and moving the car when necessary. I never had trouble finding a place to park but you have to be alert and responsible about where you leave your car. We'd rent this place again.

LOVE this place!!

  • 5 of 5

LOVE this place!! After a horrible experience with another company and 2 nights in a terrible accommodation we were able to get a refund and find this place last minute and Globe were amazing, professional, very well organized and we immediately knew we were in great hands. From booking to checking in, everything went very smoothly. We initially had issues with the TV and wifi and everyone worked hard to rectify the situation for us asap. This property is so unique and beautiful and SO CLOSE to the beach :) The neighbors are wonderful and we were treated so well from the get go. Would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thanks to everyone who helped make our stay so easy and wonderful!

Great Studio

  • 5 of 5

The unit looked just like the pictures, nice and open studio. My boyfriend and I were very comfortable. GHC helped us out when we needed bike rentals and delivered them right to us. When there was a maintenance issue, GHC did not hesitate to fix the problem. Apartment overall is great, however the video cameras all over the property made us feel like we were being watched but once we got used to them, it was no big deal. Activities were endless, we biked to marina del ray, Santa Monica, and abbot Kinney. Dining wise, we loved Komodo, Flake, Venice Ale House, and lemonade. This apartment was close enough to the beach yet far enough way so the noise didn't bother us, we slept fine at night. Overall great stay, I would recommend this place to a friend.

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

The unit is in an excellent location, literally steps from the beach and boardwalk and about a 20 minute walk to Santa Monica pier. It's clean and well-designed to make good use of the small space although I think 4 adults would find it crowded. The kitchen was basic but certainly adequate for breakfasts, lunches and light dinners if you didn't want to eat out. There are 2 bar fridges, so plenty of space for drinks and groceries.

The management company responded quickly to any issues that came up (all minor, e.g. not having the right wifi info when I got there).

The biggest downside was that it was hard to get much of a cross-breeze going with the windows open (not very nice in itself because they overlook a big utility pole and alley full of garbage cans) and there is a large skylight the sun beats in during the day so it got really stuffy in there. I didn't mind too much because I was out most of the time, but if you had to be there longer in hot weather it could get unpleasant. There was a good portable fan in the unit that helped a lot.

The entrance can be an annoyance - you go behind the building through a driveway that sometimes has one or two cars parked with inches to spare between the concrete walls. Most of the time I could squeeze through, but once someone parked on a bit of an angle and I had to walk on the wall then jump down to get around it. There is a gate I later discovered, but you have to move garbage cans out of the way if you want to use it. Fortunately the driveway was empty when I arrived and left with my luggage.

Would recommend to solo travellers or couples who want to be within easy walking distance of restaurants, shopping, beach and other attractions and mostly just want a place to sleep, not to hang out in too much.
