Lovely quiet location in the Belgian countryside

  • 5 of 5

Marc greeted us at the property and even took me to the local Spar to get some groceries (and had a bottle of wine in the fridge for us). Very helpful and friendly. We wish we had stayed longer as one night wasn't enough - we could have easily stayed a couple more nights and explored the local area more. A great location for visiting the war memorial sites of Ypres/Passendale

Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

The house was lovely and quiet, very close to all the memorials and museums. Marc was excellent with advise and having a map ready for us and suggestions where to go and what to do. We really enjoyed our stay and could have easily stayed longer. It was great for the kids in the back yard to play and we had dinner on the patio both nights. Highly recommended!

Great stay

  • 4 of 5

We arrived late after suffering car problems to a warm welcome from the owners. The cottage is lovely with all the home comforts you will need. We were fortunate to have fantastic weather so we're able to take advantage of the lovely garden and the views. It is ideally situated for visiting the battlefields and nearby Ypres. I wouldn't hesitate to return here in the future.

Christmas 2013 in Terrand

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is in a wonderful rural retreat located in a small hamlet that has beautiful views across Belgium. The owner, Marc was really helpful and even taught me a little Dutch. He recommended several places to visit and provided information for the nearest shops etc. Dadizele is a small but lovely village; with a Euro shopper and the church on Christmas day was well worth the visit. Fresh brood (bread) is available in the village but is also available in machines on the side of the roads. We managed to locate a local wood supplier for the log burner for the cosy nights in. Ieper is only 10 miles away but is well worth a visit for the Menin gate, Christmas market, with the added bonus of frites and mayonnaise followed by the fantastic Belgian chocolate waffle. I will definitely recommend this property to family and friends.

A lovely location, property, garden and hospitable

  • 4 of 5

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Terrand and Marc could not be more helpful. There is a great log burner which we could not believe we would need in June, but were grateful for as it was a cool couple of weeks.

We visited many of the WW1 (WO1) sites locally and Terrand could not have been better located. There was also an excellent theme park/zoo just a few km away for families.

The French border is also only a few km away and Lille was worth a visit but Brugge although a bit further was much nicer.

Dishwasher, washing machine and dryer were a real bonus and the property is well maintained. Only thing to be aware of is the steep stairs which need some care.

Thank you for a great couple of weeks and we would love to return.

Great ww1battlefields base

  • 5 of 5

I used this cottage as a base for visiting the Great War battlefields around Ypres (Ieper) in May 2013. It is a very nice, cosy and clean property, well provided for in terms of the kitchen utilities plus stereo, TV and DVD including a good selection of DVDs. There is also wireless Internet access which was great, and a log burner if it is cold. The cottage is in a lovely quiet location, but easy enough to drive to Ypres and visit the battlefield sites. Marc was very friendly, welcoming and helpful and I would certainly recommend the cottage highly.
