About Peter Buehlow

I'm a semi-retired Canadian farmer and have been coming to the Big Island regularly since 2005. My family and I enjoy the break from winter and all the great activities so nearby.

My main hobby here is training and competing in triathlons but also enjoy the sightseeing activities, hiking, dining, watersports, etc.

Peter Buehlow purchased this house in 2013

Why Peter Buehlow chose Kona Coast

We chose this property because it has the feel of living in the country (again, I'm a farmer) - the large lots, mango farm next door, no street lights, so quiet - yet is so close to all the city life - shopping, dining, beaches, movie theatre.

What makes this house unique

This property is unique for it's country feel in an urban setting.

It also has the feel of a resort with the pool surrounded by the main house on one side and 2 guest suites on the other - perfect for 3-5 couples or extended families (keep the kids or in-laws in the guest suites to keep everyone happy.)

Amazing house for a large family gathering

  • 5 of 5

We loved our 3 weeks at this property. The private pool was a luxury because we were able to jump in at any time. Each room had it's own AC unit with remote, and as someone who is a wimp when it comes to heat, this was perfect for us. Some family members were able to turn off AC and open windows in their rooms, while I enjoyed the AC in the main house. This house provided lots of privacy with the two suites, but also a wonderful space for gathering together (poolside, lanai, living room). Lots of parking, gated community, extremely responsive home owner, and a beautiful view from the lanai. Hope we can come back again soon!!

Perfect Muli-Family getaway in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This property was the perfect place for our family to enjoy a long overdue reunion and celebrate our patriarchs retirement and 70th birthday. The house had everything we needed, gorgeous grounds and views, spacious and an excellent location on the Kona coast. Thank you Peter for providing such a magical home on a magical island - we have such fabulous memories for life.

Spacious, lovely accommodations, perfect for our 2 families.

  • 5 of 5

We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs a larger space. There are 2 suites in addition to the main house, and even an outdoor kitchen in the breezeway. The pool was a big hit with our kids. We especially enjoyed the lovely lanai for breakfasts. There are beach items to borrow as well well, including chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards and sand toys.

Great vacation rental, especially for large groups

  • 4 of 5

This property is the perfect place if you are looking for privacy. Our family of 10 spent 12 glorious days here and loved everything it had to offer. Great location, very quiet and close to a few beaches including a short drive to the best snorkling on the island! Lots of fruit trees including Noni trees. The juice from the Noni cleared up my daughters eczema in two days and was great on sunburns! The two suites were perfect to separate the families and offer privacy. The large suite had a queen bed, pullout couch, twin bed and crib! Lots of room for everyone. The pool really is the focus of this location and we spent many hours enjoying it. Kitchen was well stocked but could use more knives and a few more plastic glasses. There were lots of towels and beach toys and coolers. Even had beach shoes for the rocky beach! The bathtub in the large suite is in rough shape but functions. Overall a great place and Peter answered all our question promptly! Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise with us.

Well stocked family home, great location.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I travel each January to the big island to avoid the PNW winters weather for a few weeks. Off the course of numerous trips we have stayed at all sorts of vacation homes.

We were very satisfied with this home.

Pros: Great outdoor kitchen area, near the pool. We ate and hung out in this area most of the time if we were home.

Plenty of space. With 3 large bedrooms and 4.5 baths there was plenty of room for our group of 10.

Well stocked. Beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, beach toys for the kids. We didn't need to buy a thing for the beach. Huge plus for us.

Kitchen was also stocked. Lots of spices, hot sauce, cooking basics.

HD TV with lots of channels. No one admits that they want to watch a little tv with the weather so nice but we were able to catch a few NBA games and some movies.

Lastly Peter the owner is "Johnny on the spot". If we had a question or a need he was available within a few minutes in the phone and came by to help when needed. Great to have him as an asset.

Cons: Be prepared that the 4th bedroom is not private, but on a plus

side the bed is comfortable.

Overall very nice unit. We would rent here again.

Amazing home / great time in Kona!

  • 5 of 5

A+ stay! This home is perfectly located away from traffic and still close enough to walk to the Magic Sands beach. We will stay again. Peter was very responsive and accommodating. We rented a boat and explored Captain Cook's bay with snorkeling and dolphin watching. We also spent 2 days at the most beautiful beach in Kona (I forget the name, but 2 exits past the airport) and did the night Manta Ray dive / snorkel. We don't have great recommendations for dinners because we mostly ate at the home on the deck overlooking the ocean. We had 6 adults and 3 kids and it was perfect for us. Stay here!

Home is located only 500 yards (450 metres) from Alii dr. in a quiet gated community. Although located centrally in Kona, it feels like you're in the country - very private. Homes and resorts on Alii which is where most are located, have a lot noise from traffic 24/7. Close to beaches, shopping, golf, deep sea fishing and a must is the volcanoes.
