About Kelly Nelson
I'm from the Pensacola area of Florida but have greatly enjoyed living in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1999. I'm a musician and have been in touring bands for almost 20 years. I'm also an artist of mixed media. I have a great love of nature, fitness and holistic living.
Kelly Nelson purchased this House in 2013
Why Kelly Nelson chose Glen Ellen
As a nature lover and avid hiker, I was drawn to Glen Ellen for it's numerous state parks and cycling opportunities. Awe inspiring natural surroundings took my breath away and had me coming back to the area time and time again. When I decided to look for a vacation home, privacy was on the top of my priority list. I said yes as soon as I walked into the house in 2013. The house was perfect with an uninhabited forest on one side, a sloping hill behind us and a nice, tall fence separating our property from a friendly neighbor, Jim. I also fell in love with the quaint, near by town of Sonoma for it's diverse culinary offerings, lovely town square, artisan craft stores and wine tasting opportunities.
What makes this House unique
Waking up to the early morning sound of song birds and ravens while wandering outside with a steaming cup of hot coffee only to find a mother deer and her fawn gazing up at me calmly was one experience out of many that made me fall in love with this place. Enjoying the intense greenery of the forest playing off the dappled light on our deck while lounging in a rocking chair watching the sun fade to brilliant hues of red and gold with a glass of pinot noir was another. Leaning out over our balcony in the pitch blackness of night (no street lights!) as crickets came to life under cover of darkness in a cacophony of song while gazing up at incredibly clear stars so bright and shining was yet one more.

Perfect location situated in Wine Country!
We rented this house for a business trip to Wine Country with our Assistant Winemaker and Tasting Room Manager. The house worked perfectly for us with the 3 bedrooms for the 4 of us traveling together. It was very nicely situated and allowed us to travel all over Sonoma and Napa without spending a lot of time on the road. The house was very clean, and well stocked with basic pantry items and plenty pots/pans/utensils and dinnerware. This allowed us to make 1 quick stop at the grocery store for food and we were set for our 3 days at the house. Would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful, well appointed refuge in a lovely setting
We had a wonderful stay this beautiful 3-bedroom house. The house has hardwood floors in front, carpet in back, all immaculate. The outside deck is very large, with chairs in front and a table on the side near the kitchen. Farther over to that side is a well-maintained hot tub. It’s in a very quiet neighborhood just 5 minutes north of the main part of Glen Ellen, surrounded by trees, with a brook running down one side of the property. Nicely furnished, with a well equipped kitchen, large TV with Apple TV attached, and very fast WiFi that was better than what we have at home. We had a great time sitting in the hot tub enjoying the view of the stars through the trees. Earlier that evening, we had a delicious dinner at the Glen Ellen Star, a restaurant just a few minutes to the south.
The owner was responsive and pleasant to deal with. Basically all good—highly recommended, and we’ll be back.
Second Stay, Better Than The First
This is our second stay at Oak Haven, and again it was a wonderful stay. The house is clean and comfortable. It's near several Vineyards in the Sanoma Valley and close to Glen Ellen. We were also a short drive to Santa Rosa. The house is located on a hill, and we had deer daily. The owner is quick to respond to any questions or concerns. We can't wait to visit again.
Clean and wonderful, a relaxing retreat!
Staying at the Oak Haven was a wonderful experience! We found the house very clean and well situated with a lot of privacy but not too far off the beaten track. The decor was quaint and rustic and the fire place was super cozy. The beds were all quite comfortable. We appreciated the coffee and creamers provided and the new double oven suited us nicely. The hot tub was really amazing to sit in under the stars! It’s almost eerily quiet. This is an incredible get away with a responsible and responsive host. We’ll definitely come back the next time we want to take in the beauty of wine country! Thank you!
We had a wonderful stay here. The listing description is accurate, and the property is both clean and well-maintained. The owner is very efficient and accommodating in her communication with us. Upon arrival, we had some last-minute questions, but all our issues were resolved very quickly. The house was big enough for six people with no problem. The kitchen is spacious, and the living room (with a nice fireplace) is very cosy. Highly recommended! Thanks, Kelly!
Comfortable and quiet home in the wine country
We stayed for 5 nights with our two adult children. The 3 bedroom and 2 bath home was just as described in the listing. It was unseasonably hot, 100+ degrees, and the AC cooled off the house nicely. The kitchen had some extra, unexpected supplies which was a nice bonus to not have to run out to get salt and pepper, olive oil, etc. We mostly ate out but did have coffee and breakfast in the morning while relaxing on the deck. The location was excellent and easy to get around to local vineyards, hiking, etc.
Would definitely stay here again!
