North Coast California House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms + Loft. Sleeps 4 - 8

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA'S BEST VACATION RENTAL

The only vacation rental in California that has it all:

• Secluded 10 acre estate

• Private beach

• Panoramic views

• Hot tub

• Double ended claw-foot tub

• Wi-fi

• Landline telephone

• Campfire pit

• Loft

• Private waterfall

• Rock climbing wall

IMAGINE THE PERFECT LOCATION: OCEANFRONT, SECLUDED AND BREATHTAKING VIEWS...

ARE YOU READY TO INDULGE YOURSELF?

Then picture yourself listening to the roar of the ocean as you watch the waves crash on the offshore rocks. Relax in the hot tub while you unwind on the secluded 10 acre estate. And soak in the romantic double ended claw-foot tub while you enjoy the welcome basket of wine and chocolates that greet you.

Oh, and don’t forget to explore the private beach and discover the private (seasonal) 45′ waterfall.

'The best place I've ever been in my entire life!'

-quote we've heard from many guests.

RIGHT ON THE OCEAN: This stunning two bedroom, two bath + loft oceanfront home sits right on the bluff above Pirate’s Cove in picturesque Trinidad. Fully furnished house includes a full kitchen, washer and dryer, wifi, cable and flat panel plasma TV. The master bedroom features a California King bed. Bedroom #2 has a queen (Captain’s) bed. The loft has a queen bed and a full sized bed along with a ‘periscope skylight dome’ for star gazing and ocean viewing. All rooms have ocean views.

A TRUE "OCEANFRONT" SITE: Oceanfront, oceanfront, oceanfront! Only about 20% of listings that advertise "oceanfront", "beachfront" or "beachhome" are really oceanfront. Most are anywhere from one city block to one mile back from the ocean and typically have public streets, Native American land or public land between the homes and the ocean. Be sure to ask the owners to guarantee that it really is oceanfront in Trinidad.

Also, if there truly is a private beach there should be a private access trail - not a public trail that is shared by the community at large.

VERY WELL APPOINTED including such amenities as Harney & Sons tea, Keurig and Peets coffee, Aveda shampoo & conditioner, laundry detergent, firewood, his and hers Egyptian cotton bathrobes, etc. Lever handles throughout. Old growth redwood floors in the bedrooms and master bathroom. Redwood dining room table. Campfire pit right on the bluff.

SECLUDED YET CLOSE: This is not in a neighborhood or on a main street but in a private 10 acre oceanfront estate with gated access. It is on quiet, historic Stagecoach road. Yet it’s only 1/2 mile to the top-rated Larrupin restaurant and 2 miles to the center of Trinidad with restaurants, art galleries, shopping, day spa & massage. We have a long, private driveway so the Chalet is nearly 600' in from the road and is completely hidden from the road.

There is none of the Casino traffic and freeway noise that Scenic and Patricks Point drive have.

IN THE HEART OF REDWOOD COUNTRY: Centrally located with redwood parks to the north and south (less than 4 miles from Patrick’s Point State Park). 15 minutes to Arcata (ACV) airport. Ten minutes to the Trinidad Cher-Ae Heights casino which features minor acts such as Starship, Everclear, Tony Orlando and Skid Row.

WHALE WATCHING options exist from the house, deck, bluff and beach. They can be seen on a regular basis (most frequent Dec - May). Nearby sea lions can be heard (and sometimes smelled!) Seals, river otters and a variety of other wildlife abound.

A PLACE TO MAKE MEMORIES. Weather you're a couple looking for a romantic getaway or a family looking for a spectacular retreat, the Oceanfront Chalet has it all.

The loft has been painted with a unique ‘infinity perspective’. In reality, the room is only about 8′ wide x 25′ long, but the illusion makes the room appear to continue forever (see photo). This is the kind of effect usually done in a Disneyland or museum type setting and this may be the first time it has been done in a private residence. There is also a window at the far end of the room, but it is concealed as part of the illusion.

Guests have access to the entire home, minus one closet in which we store extra supplies. Guests have complete privacy inside this house as YOU ARE RENTING THE ENTIRE HOME. There are no other floors, rooms or sectioned off areas rented out to other parties.

Wild blackberries, huckleberries, and salmon berries abound on the property. Huckleberries can be plucked while in the hot tub. Wild mint grows on the south side of the Chalet. This home has a tankless instant hot water heater that will supply unlimited hot water. So if you have a large group there is no need to worry about running out of water during showers.

All bedrooms and living areas (except the loft) are on the first floor.

Owners are on site and can provide free airport transfers from ACV.

Owner operated, No admin/booking fees. No pets anywhere on the premises and no smoking in the house.

Beach access notes: There is a 140 yard trail to the beach. The last 40 feet is steep and challenging and may be unsuitable for some. Small children will have to be carried.

About Mike & Debbie Wood

We are an active couple in our fifties. Mike has an aviation background and Debbie has a medical background. Debbie is also a Doterra Wellness Advocate.

After looking all over, we decided Trinidad was the best place in the world to live. The ocean views can't be beat. Trinidad is always cool and has world class views. It's small and uncrowded with no traffic, yet just big enough to have a grocery store and restaurants. And there's an airport only 15 minutes away. So, after vacationing here for ten years we decided to retire here. We moved to Trinidad in 2010 and in 2012 we purchased an oceanfront property with a guest house.

The Oceanfront Chalet is family owned and managed. The owners are on site in the adjacent house to the south. Basically we are there for you if you need us, otherwise we keep to ourselves.

Mike & Debbie Wood purchased this house in 2012

Why Mike & Debbie Wood chose North Coast California

This is located on historic Stagecoach Rd. Stagecoach road which only has private estates that are 5 - 10 acres in size. It is not on a main road and there are no subdivisions. There is no freeway noise. So it is usually very quiet (other than the ocean noise) and does not have the packed in neighbors that the town has. Our 10 acres estate has awesome, panoramic ocean views along with the constant roar of the ocean. Our private drive has gated access and the Chalet is about 600 feet in from Stagecoach road (and completely hidden from the road).

What makes this house unique

This is the only vacation rental in California that has it all: Oceanfront, Private beach, Private waterfall, Panoramic views, Hot tub, Claw-foot tub, Wifi, Rock climbing wall, Campfire pit, Loft, Deck, BBQ and more!

The Oceanfront Chalet - Your best choice for an awesome vacation!

Fantastic seaside location

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful location in Trinidad on a section of private seashore. The house was modest and comfortable and the hosts were very pleasant, with a welcome wine package and tips on whale spotting. Be aware the trail down to the beach is treacherous and not for the faint of heart or those with fear of heights. If you can get down to the beach, it's gorgeous and private. If you can't the views from the bluff are fabulous. The owners house is much closer than the pictures lead you to believe but they are very pleasant. I would stay here again, can't beat the location!

Charming house and great hosts

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five loved our stay at Oceanfront Chalet. From the fully equpped kitchen, to the books and games, the binoculars, the chocolates, and the luxurious soaps, Mike and Debbie have thought of everything to make the place as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The kids liked sleeping in the loft that was painted in fun stripes and had a "Harry Potter" attic. The large washer and dryer was very convenient. The king size bed in the master bedroom was comfortable. This house is not a luxurious accommodation, but the gracious hosts have provided everything a family would want and more (not to mention the views)! for a beach vacation. We will be back.

Outstanding

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful property. The hosts are gracious and have thought of everything to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. The house itself is clean, the beds are comfortable and the amenities are great. There are 2 bedrooms, but the loft adds more sleeping upstairs. We were two adults and two teenagers, and there was plenty of space for us. Linens and toiletries are provided, and the washer/dryer was an added bonus. We took advantage of the hot tub and of course, the views are breathtaking. The owners provide bikes and there is a fire pit with plenty of wood and kindling to enjoy a night of roasting marshmallows and recounting the adventures of the day. Access to Trinidad itself is quick and easy where you will find a grocery store and a variety of restaurants and shops, but the home is private and secluded. Time to get to Redwoods National Park is only about 45 minutes to an hour, so you are quite close to hiking and all of the other outdoor activities that makes Northern California such a spectacular and not-to-be missed destination. The long list of local recommendations and tips provided by the owners are spot-on. We went whitewater rafting using one of outfitters they recommended, and had a great time. Overall, I give this property 5 stars and highly recommend to couples and families.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review. You were wonderful guests. We really do try to think of everything. Although the list of activities such as rafting and exploring the redwoods is endless here, we always say the best thing is to just soak up the ocean noise and view.

Great location near the redwoods

  • 5 of 5

We had a great experience at the Ocean Chalet! Mike was very professional and prompt with all communications. The amenities were great! We really appreciated the attention to detail. They provided great information on the surrounding area for our day trips. Directions to their place were highly accurate and easy to follow. The kitchen is well appointed, beds and linens were comfortable. The house faces the ocean so you have amazing views all of the time.

The house was great for our family. One of our boys took the loft and the other took the second bedroom. You can walk down to the beach though you should know that it is not an easy walk down, it's steep and their is a long wooden walking ladder near the bottom. We had no problems but older parents might not do it.

The views are amazing, sunsets, sea lions, boats! I had a great run to Patrick's Point state park, about 3.5 miles away that was beautiful. The town of Trinidad is close and we found a nice coffee shop with lots of gluten free options. The Humboldt State University marine lab is there and we got to hold starfish in their hands on tank. The trails and hiking were great all around.

We hope we can visit again on our next adventure to Northern California.

Stunning View, excellent hosts who are on site, lovely town and charming, comfy Chalet.

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking for a getaway with a spectacular ocean view in a secluded spot that is still close to everything you need - this is it. Mike was an excellent host- attentive but not intrusive at all. He even drove one of us to the airport when we suddenly needed a lift. The view is overwhelming in scope and satisfaction. We enjoyed making smores by the fire and watching the stars through the telescope provided (in the closet ). Technically speaking, there is a private beach, but I would describe the access as limited because it is a steep, challenging, awkward descent that is really only accessible to the very able bodied, confident hiker. Children require supervision on the stairs/ladders down. Once there- it is a classic N. Cali rocky beach, rich in sea life with excellent tide pooling. There is lots to do in the immediate area, good food, and plenty of other beach/redwood access a short drive away. If you are elderly or unable to climb to the beach- the view itself from the top of the bluff is fully satisfying.

The Chalet itself is clean, cozy and comfy. The two small bedrooms have very comfortable mattresses, and the master bathtub is a treat. Our two 11 year old boys really loved the small loft with comfortable mattresses for sleeping. The loft works for folks (kids) who can climb ladders safely and don't expect to stand up in the space. Nice little portal to see the stars up there too.

With a party of 8 close friends, 5 of whom are kids, this space worked well. I would recommend this beautiful spot for a somewhat smaller group, if the loft sleeping area is problematic for anyone. Trinidad is a great town.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review. We love having excellent guests such as yourselves and hope to see you again. Although we describe the loft as best suited for children ages 7 - 14, we continue to get adults who sleep up there too. The 140 yard trail to the beach can definitely be a long way for some. The trail requires constant maintenance and we have improved it since this group left. However, like all bluff trails, the last forty feet is steep and challenging so we describe it as unsuitable for some. Depending on one's fitness level, it may take as little as one minute or as long as five minutes to get to the beach. For those that can not hike the 140 yards, there is a drive-up beach only five minutes away.

Other activities include: exploring Humboldt State University and Arcata, Old Town Eureka and the Eureka Waterfront, the Victorian Village of Ferndale, and the College of the Redwoods. About once a month the propane truck comes by all properties in Trinidad to refill propane tanks. This takes about 20 minutes. Owners are in the large house to the southwest of the Chalet and can provide free airport transfers, show you where to find berries, answer questions about the area or address any other concerns you may have.
