Welcome to Los Mangos ! Built three years ago the home is in pristine condition.
A truly stunning ocean and coastline view extends for miles upon miles from north of the famous Whale’s Tail down the coast, around to the Osa Peninsula and across the sea to Cano Island; a popular dive and snorkeling area. With perfect temperatures, at 1600 feet in elevation, feel the warmth of the sun while staying cool enough to never need air conditioning. Located on the central pacific coast in upscale Escalares, you are just a 20 minute drive from the sleepy surf town of Dominical. This area is one of the only areas of Costa Rica where the mountains rise out of the sea offering a true jungle experience with spectacular ocean views.
Our Costa Verde community is very secure due to its location and the entrance being gated and manned by a guard that monitors all visitors. Situated on 10 acres at the end of a road, the home is completely private and quiet.
All you will hear are the birds, the occasional howler monkey, and see our daily visit from our resident pizote and beautiful Toucans.
The house is all on one level. The extra large great room is perfect for relaxing with family and friends, while still enjoying the dramatic vista through a wall of windows. Lending to the open feel, 3 extra-wide patio sliders open out to the view and outdoor dining area. The interior feels warm yet elegant with marble floors and wood carvings from Bali. The house is newly built, clean, solid, and well-sealed. The kitchen is equipped with granite counter-tops, top-end appliances and all the cooking gear you need. The large luxurious leather couch is comfortable for socializing or stretching out and watching the large screen TV. There are also ceiling fans in the bedrooms, kitchen and living area. The Blu-ray player plays blu-ray disks, regular dvd’s and music cd’s. Also Sky TV provides HBO, CNN, Bloomberg news, music channels, movies, and much more. We also have a soundbar that enables music to be played from your ipad, iphone, etc via bluetooth. Many homes in Costa Rica are not built with the idea of keeping spiders, geckos, etc out of the home. This home was constructed to minimize these intrusions. All windows and slider doors have tight screens. We also regularly have the outside of the home sprayed for spiders.
With two walls of windows, the master bedroom, with queen bed, overlooks the pool and the stunning panorama. Window curtains are provided for privacy. The on-suite bathroom features an extra large walk-in shower and double sinks. Just outside, toward the jungle side of the house, is an outdoor shower with a gorgeous mosaic tile wall. The smaller second and third bedrooms, each with a queen bed, share a bathroom that also has a walk-in shower and the second outdoor shower facing the jungle. Each bedroom has storage shelving for clothes, suitcases, etc. The fully stocked laundry room has full sized washer and dryer.
Outdoors you can bask in the sun by the pool or relax with a book or a drink on the covered terrace, or just enjoy the scenery and wildlife. How about starting the day with a game of tennis on the newly constructed court located within the development?
A small grocery market in nearby Dominical has almost everything you might need. For more variety there is a bigger supermarket in Uvita, about 20 minutes south of Dominical. The newly built San Buenas Golf Course is also located in Uvita. And if you want to travel further - the largest nearby city of San Isidro El General lies 40 minutes up into the Talamanca mountain range offering a wide range of stores. If you aren’t in the mood to cook, there are a number of excellent options for dining out in Dominical and Uvita. Plus don’t miss the world-class restaurants in Ojochal just 30 minutes down the main road. Your activities might include seeing the wildlife at Hacienda Baru, taking the Osa Mountain canopy tour, going on the Nauyaca Falls horseback tour, strolling down a beautiful secluded beach, or surfing.
A local manager will meet you when you arrive and be available to assist with any needs you may have. They can help arrange on-site massage, tours, additional housekeeping, or practically anything you desire.
We love Costa Rica for so many reasons some of which are the wildlife, jungle, sunshine, temperate climate, and happy people. We currently live in the U.S. in Washington state and vacationed in Costa Rica many times at different times of the year before purchasing this home in July 2013.
Doug & Maggie purchased this house in 2013
The privacy of this property is unmatched. A new tennis court is available for guests within the development as well as an indoor weight room
My husband and I visited Los Mangos in March and would definitely go back! The owner is very responsive, the property managers are fantastic and the home is very private, clean and well stocked with all of the cooking essentials (mixers, coffee machine, silverware etc). The home has amazing views and is in a central location that provides easy access to the surrounding towns and activities. Horseback riding, zip lining, kayaking and the Manuel Antonio National Park are all feasible with 1/2 day trips. We loved being able to grocery shop (check out the BM in Uvita) and cook our own food on the grill. On the property we saw an abundance of wildlife including hummingbirds, butterflies, toucans and even white faced monkeys! The house is located about 15 minutes up a mountain and you will absolutely need 4-wheel drive to get there. The pool was beautiful and we spent many days just relaxing at the house. We definitely recommend Los Mangos if you're looking for some quiet down time with flexibility to also do some sight seeing.
We traveled to Costa Rica in mid-March 2015 and had the most amazing time. This home is ideally located between Dominical and Uvita. Be prepared for about a 15 minute trek/adventure up the mountain to get there, but it is well worth it once you arrive. The home is very private, absolutely beautiful, spacious and clean. The views are amazing. It was so fun to wake up to the sounds of the jungle, see Toucans in the trees, hummingbirds and butterflies. The owner and property managers were responsive and very easy to deal with.
Our family of 4 spent Christmas 2014 at this beautiful home in the mountains overlooking the coast and the Whale's Tail. From the moment I made contact with the owners, all my questions and concerns were dealt with promptly and efficiently. The property managers, Rachel and Adam, are a pleasure to deal with, and very professional and responsive.
Every morning, my husband and I would sit on the patio overlooking the pool and the coast, sipping our coffee and listening to the sounds of nature. At night, my daughter and I would go for a swim in the pool and admire the sheer number of stars. During the day, if we weren't having a pool day, we would make day trips to participate in various activities or to hit the beach. Favorite activities included the Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary, ziplining and Superman tour with Midworld near Quepos, surfing in Dominical, and kayaking in the mangroves with Pineapple Kayak Tours in Dominical. Lots of interesting dining choices are all within half an hour drive in both directions once you reach the highway.
The home was very clean and had everything we needed, including a fridge with an ice/water dispenser (no ice cube trays needed!). Kitchen was well stocked with items needed for cooking and storing food, including Ziploc bags and Tupperware-type containers. good barbecue, and we made good use of the laundry facilities.
We highly recommend this property for people who want to enjoy the peace and beauty of southern Costa Rica. The home is far enough removed from town to be a haven, but close enough to the highway that you could easily access all that you needed.
Our vacation in Costa Verde was a huge success. This property exceeded our expectations. My family spent a week there in Jan 2014 and fell in love with the place and the people.
The venue: this house is amazing. It is nestled into the mountain overlooking the coast. The views of the Whale's Tail and the stars at night are over the top. You are part of nature. There are many local animals in the neighborhood (no need for an alarm clock!). Very private. The house materials are all natural wood and stone, the layout very open to outdoors and the pool deck. It has all the cooking amenities. The locked dry room is very reassuring, but there is no hint of crime in this area because it is a gated community.
Not a spot for the club scene - a more laid back atmosphere. The Dominical area is kind of funky and not at all touristy. People are super nice. Some cool little restaurants (try Maracatu). We stopped by the local fish market (Lamancha) several days to get fresh tuna and mahi and cooked it up on the grill. Check out the pictures of the place. The reality is more grand. Every day was jut "wow".
The area: located between Dominical and Uvita. The house location is a great platform for day trips, we checked out (from N to S): Playa Hermosa, national park at Manuel Antonio (recommend certified tour guide), beach at Manuel Antonio, nature hike at Hacienda Baru (will try Flight of Toucan next time), surfing at Dominical, whale watch tour out of Uvita (no whales, but a great day), and several local beaches such as Tortuga and Playa Ventanas.
Some things to be aware of. Take your time. The highway from San Jose along the coast is a dangerous mixture of high speed to very low tech. We saw a nasty motorcycle accident. The road to the house is very rugged. You will need a 4 wheel vehicle. It is amazing how the cool the climate is on the mountain, but an adventure to get there. There are critters. Saw monkeys in the neighborhood (not at the house). Many birds. Some wild boar paid a visit one morning. We saw an interesting snake and some impressive insects. No issues, but please be aware of your surroundings. The house has (slow) wi-fi, but I will get a local phone next time.
I strongly recommend this place for a relaxing vacation. It is special. For all future tenants, please be gentle with it. The house has a lot of nice furniture and accessories. Don't mess it up. Pura Vita.
My husband and I stayed at this property with two friends for a week in January. The temperature was perfect, nice ocean breezes coming into the house keeping it nice and cool. The kitchen was well stocked and the appliances were great to cook on! What we loved most was being able to eat all our meals outdoors. The outdoor lanai was great for watching the sunrise, the birds, the surf and the stars! The only thing missing was a hair dryer, towel racks, and enough space to unpack your clothes in the guest bathroom/bedrooms.
