About Marcia

Retired Grammy wanting to share her beautiful Hawaii with you! Homeowner is friendly, knows every nook and cranny of the island and can point you in any direction you wish to go. Born and raised in Jamaica, she retired here in Hawaii after an amazing journey through life, which she will share with you if you ask--it will amaze you! While she lets you enjoy her home all to yourself, she will be happy to talk with you at length about her beautiful Hawaii, if you are so inclined.

Marcia purchased this house in 2005

Why Marcia chose Oahu

Lovely, quiet family neighborhood, tropical breezes, beautiful mountain, golf, ocean views, short walk to the beautiful Koko Head Botanical Gardens, where every type of Plumeria tree is on parade, gardening to her heart's content, yet close to shopping and easy to get into town. These are the reasons this place was the one for her.

What makes this house unique

You'll love the corner lot with its space for children to run and play, its beautiful, tropical gardens (which Grammy will come by from time to time to water on a regular basis so you don't lose your blooms), and so close to everything you'd like to see or do. This is the best location you will find at this price.

A family home in Kalama Valley, Hawaii Kai

  • 5 of 5

The owner of the property was and is charming. The house is large with lots of room inside and out.

The house was clean and the yard well maintained. It was easy to adjust living there a few minutes after arriving.

Outstanding Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

Photos of the house on the website are attractive, but do not do it justice. It has a very large living room, family room, and master bedroom suite (along with two other bedrooms), and is well-maintained and comfortably furnished. It also has a cute patio and a safe, enclosed backyard for the kids to play in. Unlike some other vacation properties we have rented, this one truly feels like someone's home, and you will have no problem settling in. The owner and agent were very responsive to our inquiries. It's conveniently located right next to the Hawaii Kai golf course and a short distance from white sand beaches in a quiet, upscale neighborhood away from the congestion of Waikiki and downtown Honolulu. We would definitely stay here again.

Epic vacation!

  • 5 of 5

I had the wonderful experience of staying in this home for two enjoyable weeks - would totally recommend it as a place to stay and would love to come back someday. We had everything we needed, plus our hosts, Marcia and her mom Phyllis were very welcoming and helpful the entire time we were there. The location is a plus - no problem getting around and the house and garden is just beautiful. The pictures were an accurate representation of the property - the home actually was more spacious than I thought. Very clean and well - maintained. Having Costco and Safeway nearby made it easy to dine in and able to get anything we needed. Loved going to Waimanalo Beach for swimming and sunning. I miss it already! We had a group of 5 people and were very comfortable. A great big mahalo to our hosts for everything!

Winter Get Away

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent 6 days in this beautiful property. The house was neat and clean, and the garden is simply a dream, all the trees and bushes were perfectly manicured.

The property is located in a peaceful and serene neighborhood, as well as conveniently located. the beach and botanical garden are within walking distance.

Marcia, the owner, is a pleasure to work with, responded to our emails and questions and made sure we had plenty of additional linen, towels, and cleaning supplies which makes a vacation so much more convenient.

Thank you Marcia, we will certainly stay in your beautiful home again. It was the perfect place for us. Home away from home :)

Spacious and great for kids

  • 4 of 5

We were a family of four adults and a 3 year old and a 1 year old. The house was great for the kids as it was a bungalow, spacious and clean. The back yard is completely closed in with a beautiful garden and swinging chairs on the patio were a huge hit. It's a 10 minute walk to the coastline which is absolutely stunning on that side of the island. It was a 20-25 minute ride to Waikiki which was no problem at all. As a matter of fact we travelled the whole island in the 3 weeks we were there. The kitchen wad spacious and well equipped and the house was well stocked. The only downfall was the lack of air conditioning as it was hot and humid but by opening the patio doors and running the fans, we quickly adapted. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Lynda, we are so happy you enjoyed our home. The tropics can be hot from time to time, but I'm glad you found the fans and the mountain breezes that blow through the home. No air conditioning is not for everyone, but I'm happy it didn't deter you from enjoying your stay. Thank you for such a nice review! We look forward to seeing you again.

Clean, spacious and quiet

  • 5 of 5

The pictures on VRBO accurately depict this house. In fact, they have a bigger patio table and bigger family room tv than what is shown in their pictures. It was about a 25 minute drive to Waikiki but we didn't mind as the house held two key factors for us, it was clean and quiet! It was also very spacious and well-furnished. The house was well stocked w/ necessities such as toilet paper and soap (both for bath and the dishwasher). The only things we had to purchase for the house (besides food, of course) were laundry detergent and paper towels. The house was worth the rental fee (we had 7 people though). We especially enjoyed eating in the backyard, sitting in the outdoor swing and taking in the beautifully landscaped backyard. One nice bonus about this rental is how pleasant Marcia (owner's daughter) is to work with. She quickly responded to all of my emails, was extremely helpful and super super super nice!

You will love the original art pieces scattered throughout this home--watercolors, oils and acrylics. Phyllis, the owner, lives here when she's not renting to you, so she has left many personal touches for you to enjoy in her absence. The house is all yours while you are staying--it is not shared with the owner. She returns after you depart for home, although you may see her in the garden watering pots from time to time. There is no air conditioning or heating in this home, so if you are the type who avoids open windows and balmy breezes, this may not be the place for you. But we have plenty of ceiling and other type fans for each room on the occasional days that are warm, and blankets for the cool days in the winter.
