Totally Updated And Professionally Decorated 3/2 Cottage With A View
This cottage was completely updated in 2009 offering three bedrooms, all with new mattresses and down duvets and pillows, two full baths, plus a year round sunroom. Relax on the spacious 16’ x 90’ wood deck offering panoramic views of Mackinaw Island and the lighthouse in downtown St. Ignace. On the deck is a recessed Nordic 12 jet hot tub, plenty of patio furniture, and a gas grill available to entertain your friends.
The 2nd deck is a large stone area hosting a beautiful stone fire pit completely surrounded with comfy chairs to enjoy the cool evenings while stargazing. Enjoy sitting in the swing overlooking the lighthouse and watch the Saturday night fireworks display put on by the City of St. Ignace, July 4th through Labor Day. Flowers abound on this property along with Michigan’s famous White Birch trees.
The state-of-the-art kitchen has everything a cook could need or want. Pots, pans, blender, panini grill and a slow cooker along with a 12 piece place setting of dishes. The owner loves cooking and has plenty of spices here for you to use to make your special meal. As noted in 'Life's Little Instruction Book'....be sure to spend time somewhere where you can hear the screen door slam. Coming to 'Summer Winds' you will do just that. Leave behind stale air conditioned air and come where fresh air is clean and crisp. (Please note that spa, decks and fire pit are open seasonally)

Why Kathy McMahon OR Bernard McMahon chose Saint Ignace
The home was in need of major renovations when we purchased it. But it was the view that sold us. After being all over the world the view from this house sold our hearts.

2018 Annual Pond Hockey Trip
This was the 4th year we were fortunate enough to stay at the McMahon home for our annual pond hockey trip. The home is roomy, has everything necessary for cooking our own meals and has the perfect location -- close to town with un-matched view of the bay. Sunrise over Mackinaw Island is awesome. Staying here never comes off the bucket list!

Gorgeous home-away-from-home Retreat!
We were overjoyed when the owners allowed us to check in early arriving on Thanksgiving AM with quick response and kind permission granted! We have stayed in many rental properties domestic and international and this home was the most hospitable we have ever encountered- from every kitchen tool and pan and platter that allowed us to cook a full Thanksgiving meal with ease to linens to binoculars for bird- and ferry-watching to toiletries in the bathrooms and wood cut and ready for the fire pit and fireplace! We felt more like guests than renters! :)
The location was superb to walk to the shops and restaurants in St. Ignace and the ferry landing.
The home itself is gorgeous with beautiful vistas of the lake from the cozy gathering rooms of the house. We loved it in winter- can only imagine how fabulous it is when the flowers are blooming and the deck and hot tub are in season!
Thank you for making us feel so welcome and sharing your fabulous home with us!
Everything you could want and more.
Great location and easy to find. The house had everything we needed and then some.
It felt like home!
I was a solo traveler looking for a getaway. The location is great you're in town but you have 99% privacy. The house and lawn were super clean and is 120% decorated and furnished. You immediately felt at home!! I enjoyed the hot tub, it's not 100% private so I preferred to use at night. I am not a cook but the kitchen was prime for use (only suggestion would be to add a tea kettle and a keurig). Bed was very comfortable and tucked away at the back. The house is maximized for the lake view it's great to see the sunrise from the living room. It's a 5 minute walk to eating establishments part of which is right next to lake (walking back to the house are 2 fairly steep hills). In peak season you could walk to the ferry for Mackinac. The keypad code to enter worked well, write it down and carry with you in case your phone dies or you forget it. The wi fi was excellent I didn't have a very strong cell Signal at the house.
St Ignace was a great location to see several area attractions and this is an excellent choice for rental.
Warm cozy home with a beautiful view that never gets old. My husband loves lighthouses so there is a beautiful view of the local one. The sunrises over the lake were so breathtaking they are second to none. We sat up early each morning just to catch them. Great location!!! Easy to get to many surrounding locations. Thank you again for allowing us to rent your home!!!
Another wonderful week!!
You cannot beat the view from the living room, the deck or the patio! The house is so warm and inviting. And the location is perfect to walk down to the city park and the town of St. Ignace. This was our 4th year and we plan on going again next year. We already cannot wait until then.
As you leave the lower peninsula of Michigan and cross the Straits of Mackinaw on the Mackinac Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in the world you will arrive in St. Ignace. A small town founded in 1671 that has remained small and a place where visitors get a chance to escape away from it all and enjoy life at a slower pace.
Spectacular Vista’s abound with views overlooking St. Ignace's Harbor, lighthouse and historic Mackinac Island. Relax on the 16’ x 90’ private water view deck, sit in the hot tub Jacuzzi and watch the Mackinac Island ferry boats, sailboats and the world go by.
Downtown is a short five-minute walk along the beach and boardwalk. While there enjoy gift and fudge shops, the Fort du Buade Museum, and a variety of restaurants offering everything from homemade pies and pasties, a local tradition, to homemade soups and local favorite - whitefish and perch- caught in the cool, fresh waters of the Straits of Mackinac.
What’s to Do?
Walk to the ferry that will carry you back in time. A place where the form of transportation is horse and carriage, bicycles or your own two feet. Beautiful downtown with shopping and photo oops abound. Hike the trails or ride your bike on the only state highway that prohibits motor vehicles.
There are many different cruises offered in the Straits of Mackinac area. Cruise beneath the mighty Mackinac Bridge, around Mackinac Island, past historic lighthouses and along scenic coastlines, to name just a few.
The Upper falls is one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi.
The closest course for your enjoyment is the St. Ignace Golf and Country Club. Spectacular vistas of the Mackinac Bridge make this public course a 'must play'. Full pro shop with rentals and carts.
