Our luxury chalet is on a large 12,000 sq ft heavily treed lot and is located south of Flagstaff in the quiet secluded villiage of Kachina. The villiage property borders the Coconino County National Forrest. It is an excellent retreat from the heat in the summer and snow play in the winter. Enjoy historic downtown Flagstaff and home of NAU just 9 miles away. The drive to the Grand Canyon is just 90 minutes away. Points of interest within 30 minute drive are Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon & Slide Rock State Park, Williams and Kaibab Lake, and Arizona Snowbowl Ski lodge. Places to see in the Parks area include the Lava Tube Caves, Sycamore Canyon, Key Hole Sink, Deer Farm and Oak Hill Snow Play Area. There are many great quad, dirt bike, hiking, biking and running trails for the outdoor enthusiasts. Other activities include hiking, cycling, running, mountain biking, fishing, hunting, golfing, skiing, dining, shopping, sightseeing, and star gazing. Flagstaff is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts!

Description of the Chalet: Our completely remodeled 2-story cabin is 3000 sq. ft. including 600 sq feet of finished basement that we have turned into a game room and laundry facilities. The chalet has 4 bedrooms with beds for 9 which includes 1 king bedroom, 2 queen bedrooms and 1 room with a double lower bunk and a twin upper bunk. There is a queen size futon in the downstairs living room that sleeps 2. There are also an air mattress, couches and leather recliner chair can be used for sleeping. The chalet is beautifully decorated in warm earthy tones. Upstairs: master suite with king bed, cable TV, dresser/closet and private spa bathroom with his/hers sinks and a jacuzzi tub/shower. Across the hall from the master is the kids room with bunk beds, 2 dressers and a closet. The bunk beds would sleep 3 as the top is a twin and the bottom is a double. There is a full service bathroom upstairs with a shower/sink/toilet. We also have a service room with a full size chest freezer for extra food storage along with wire shelving for extra pantry items and storage for wet skiis and clothes hangers! The living area has a large suede U shaped couch, 55' HDTV flat screen wall mounted TV, cable with plenty of stations, Sony surround sound and Blu Ray DVD player with a selection of DVD's and Ipod player. We also have a floor to ceiling fireplace! The dining area has a round oak table that comfortably seats 6 and 3 more can sit at the island with suede bar stools. The chefs kitchen is fully equipped with service for 12+ and features a gas range/oven/dishwasher/microwave/wine bar and regfrigerator/freezer. We also have fun features like an air popper for that movie night popcorn! The most welcoming feature about the upstairs is large end to end bay windows wrapping around the living/dining room with a full size walk out deck. The deck has been freshly painted with a large gas grill, high top table that seats 6 and a 2 person lounge with views of the SF Peaks! Downstairs: The 3rd bedroom has a queen bed, dresser and closet. The 4th bedroom has a queen bed, dresser, end table and closet. There is a full size living area downstairs with a 46' flat screen HDTV with cable, a DVD player, 2 leather couches, a recliner/rocker, a Precor elliptical machine, a Queen size futon, and a chair/ottoman. There is a bathroom downstairs with a sink and toilet. Just off the living area is another full size deck with 3 chairs and steps down into the large fenced in tree lot yard! Lots of room for the kids to run and play and pickup pine cones! Also downstairs is the laundry room with a washer and dryer, a toboggan and sleds and a game room with a ping pong table, a full size leather couch and extra fitness equipment such as a body ball and mats.

On-Site Amenities: We are WI-FI enabled with quick service. Parking provides plenty of room for 3-4 vehicles. Fireplace in the upstairs living room with bay window views provides a perfect opportunity for toasting marshmallows. Special detail went into the décor providing a calming palette with high end polished nickel hardware and designer finishings. There is no reason to worry about missing a workout as this chalet includes body balls, yoga mats and plenty of outdoor walking/running/biking trails. We are only 2 blocks from a very popular hiking trail deep into the forest. (Toho/Buffalo- right side starts the path) Our large decks would be a great place for your morning yoga or meditation as it's very quiet in our neighborhood. This is the kind of vacation retreat you will come back to again and again.

Activities and Attractions: Our main attraction is the Grand Canyon, a quick 1-1.5 hour drive away which makes for an easy day trip for hiking or riding a mule into the Indian Gardens. Perhaps you were the lucky ones to have tickets for river rafting through the canyon! On your way back to the chalet drive through Williams and grab some lunch and a fresh pie or stop at Bearizona! Williams has the Grand Canyon Railway featuring the Polar Express during the winter months which is wonderful fun for the kids, many fun restaurants, an indoor skate board park and Native American shopping.

Want to visit the beautiful red rocks of Sedona? We are only 30 minutes away! Prefer to stay close? Historical Flagstaff has many multi-cultural restaurants including local options and chains, great shopping and art galleries. Friday nights in downtown Flagstaff is the art walk with local musicians playing as you breeze about the stores. Family movies are also shown downtown and you can pack dinner and eat/watch on the grass! Lowell’s Observatory and Meteor Creator are near Flagstaff. During the winter months there is downhill skiing at our famous Snowbowl Ski Resort. From spring to fall, take a ride to Sedona's Red Rock Canyon and Oak Creek Canyon. While there, hop on a Pink Jeep Tour or Hot Air Balloon ride over some of the most beautiful and unique scenery in our country. During the summer, pack a cooler and enjoy a day at Slide Rock State Park where kids slide along the rocks and adults’ sunbath or catch up on their reading on the many levels of flat rocks along the creek.

Great Chalet

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. We had 2 families, 3 adults, a 8,9,10,11,15.15 year olds. The teenagers loved the basement. They brought their xbox and hooked up to wifi (which was great signal) for the downtime at the cabin. The younger kids loved the bunk beds. It is not shown real well on the pics, but there is actually another huge laundry room and they have a double and a twin blowup mattress that could hold a few more guests. Large yard if you brought dogs. Kitchen was nice and fully stocked with cooking and eating necessities. Another big bonus is that is is right off 17, making access to Flagstaff and Sedona easy. Was only about 10 minutes from Flagstaff Extreme ropes course...the main reason for our visit. The only suggestion I would have is to pre-warn guests that the smoke alarms are quite sensitive. We were cooking cinnamon rolls and did not have the vent on (and there is a sign to always use vent when cooking...we just didn't notice it), and the smoke alarms went off at 8am! Woke the teenagers...oh well! Once we used the vent, it was no problem. Will definitely stay there again if in Flagstaff.

Great layout!

  • 5 of 5

This was a beautiful cabin with plenty of space and fit our needs perfectly. The downstairs rooms were perfect for the teenagers, or perhaps another family. The location is great, not to far from the center of Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon or Sedona. Everything was as it was described in the listing. Great place!

Light, Airy, and Spacious!

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely home for 3 different couples with kids to stay in.

The kitchen was great to cook and gather in. We were close to the downtown area and shopping.

It was a great location so that we could do lots of different day trips.

The only "challenge" with the house were the instructions regarding the dvd player and the remotes.

We all had trouble with trying to get a movie going and I think that the remote batteries were out.

Other than that, it was a stellar experience.

House was great! awesome location and view!

  • 4 of 5

It had a great view of the mountain. That was nice to wake up to. It would have been nice to have a shower in the downstairs bathroom. But we made it work. The layout was good for our family. It was a nice neighborhood as well. It was clean when we arrived but there was something sticky on the tile by the trash. I would recommend this to friends. It was a great location that was close to all the places we wanted to see.
