Why Jackie Cowan chose Natchez
When you see the 'BEFORE' pictures on my website, you might understand why others couldn't see the potential in this property, but, although the renovation took a very long time, I always knew it could be as amazing as it is today! It was literally saved by local historic preservation efforts (which prevented it from being demolished).....and me!

Charming and clean
The photo's are accurate..Jackie communicated with me often and was quick to respond to my questions. This Natchez cottage has been updated but also has interior accurate to the period. I was amazed that even the window sills were clean. Appliances are up to date, tub can be hard to navigate if you have any issues with balance, but we knew what the set up was beforehand and managed fine. That back porch is so cozy, great for making memories, drinking coffee in mornings, and I can just imagine the space beyond that with seating area would be ideal for cooler temps around the fire! Thank you for a wonderful place to bring my elderly mother to visit all of her favorite places! She grew up in Natchez, and we have relatives that lived here and some still do. It was perfect for our needs! We used the sound machine provided to help "drown out" the street noise and slept! Thank You!
Thank you ladies very much for choosing Isabella House for your visit to Natchez. It was a pleasure to have y’all, and I’m so glad we were able to meet your needs. That’s our goal ... to provide a comfortable stay that is as worry free as possible. Please come again. We’ll be happy to have you. ~ Jackie and Luc
Jackie was terrific. Her communications were timely, friendly, and informative. She made sure we had contact information in case we needed her for anything while staying. Everything was just as shown online, even better in person.
Beautiful home! Must stay!
We had an amazing stay at the Isabella House! This property was beautiful. My wife wanted to have a full experience of Natchez, so we were very excited to stay at this historic home. Jackie was very accommodating and easy to get in contact with during our stay. The local restaurants were incredible!! The street traffic wasn’t an issue for us since we made sure to bring our sound machine. Jackie did have an extra sound machine in the living room. We would love to come back to Natchez during a cooler month, and fully enjoy the beautiful back porch. Thanks for a wonderful stay and experience!
Thank you for your nice review and for choosing Isabella House. We strive to see that our guests are comfortable and well taken care. We’re glad y’all enjoyed Natchez as well. Please come again!
Ladies Weekend Getaway
Charming cottage in Natchez. Owner includes everything for convenience and comfort. Our group was a little snug but overall a very enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend.
This house is good for a short term stay, I guess. We were there for three weeks and we were not very comfortable. The furniture is old and needs to be updated (i.e. sofa and kitchen table and chairs). The clawfoot tub is hard for older people to get in and out of. The shower curtain has to go all the way around on the inside of the tub and sticks to you while you are taking a shower. Not to mention the soap residue that gets on the curtain, not just mine but everyone eles.. There is no cable TV,. It is a ROKU steaming system so there is no local weather or national news. The back porch is nice but we were there in August and it was to hot to use. The windows on the outside had green mold on them which I had to clean off so I could see out when I opened the curtains. We were looking for a home away from home since we were there on business and this was not it. I think the owner should stay there for one week and see what she thinks.. I debated for a long time about writing a review that was not good and decided that I should considering how unhappy we were staying there.
It is our goal to accommodate our guests in the very best way and to make each one happy. I do realize though that not everyone has the same needs, and I regret that we did not fully meet yours. As indicated, Isabella House is a circa 1885 structure, and we make every effort to stay as true as possible to that period with its decor and furnishings while still providing modern features and conveniences. The vast majority of our guests find it very comfortable and relaxing.
As with all older houses, it does need routine care, and we strive to see that it is well maintained. You can rest assured that all interior textiles, including the shower curtains, are cleaned or changed upon each guest departure. Weather and news, as well as many other channels and movies, are also available free of charge via Roku streaming as we discussed. We are located close by and, otherwise, have someone attending to the property in our absence. Had we known, we would have been happy to come by during your stay and address your concerns to the best of our ability. We want all our guests to be comfortable and well taken care of.
This property is a block off of the Mississippi and very close to Rosalie Plantation and downtown. The beautiful riverfront Park was an easy walk and the back porch with three large ceiling fans made an ideal place to unwind at the end of the day.
Thank you guys for choosing Isabella House for your trip to Natchez! It was a pleasure having you, and I’m glad you found it comfortable and accommodating. Please come again when you get the opportunity. ~ Jackie and Luc
Natchez is steeped in history and has an array of magnificent antebellum homes. You can get an up-close and personal feel of the old south touring these beautiful and unique homes and properties. Some are open year round, and many others are featured during Natchez' Spring and Fall Pilgrimages in March and October. We are also home of The Great Mississippi River Balloon Race (recently renamed The Natchez Balloon Festival in 2019) in October-an event you don't want to miss! The Bluff Blues Fest, The Food and Wine Fest, The Festival of Music (annually throughout May) and the Independence Day Celebration with Fireworks on the River are just some of the many attractions that keep life in this bluff city fun and entertaining! There are also ghost tours, the Natchez Little Theater, the Under-the-Hill Bar and Saloon, the St. Catherine Creek National Wildlife Refuge, and Lakes St. John and Concordia (just across the river into Louisiana) among many other local attractions....truly something for everyone! Come enjoy what suites you!
