I am a surfer, so I initially went to Club Marena for the legendary Point Break out front, but I was shocked by the luxury of the accommodations when I walked into the place for the first time. My wife, Anna, decided I was a keeper when I removed her blindfold on the 9th floor balcony overlooking the stunning panorama of the rugged Baja coastline before her. She was expecting “Baja” utility and instead she got “La Jolla” sumptuousness. Photos don’t do the place justice. The feel of the place is sole quenching happiness. We love to enjoy the sunsets on the balcony with a margarita watching the surfers carve and whales, dolphins and seals play.
The unit is over 2,600 square feet, so with only 2 bedrooms, everything is over-sized. The kitchen has everything you need if you choose to cook at home, though we look forward to eating out as much as possible in the incredible restaurants of Rosarito, Puerto Nuevo, Ensenada and everywhere in between. We took my brother and his wife on our first wine tour in the wine country just south of Ensenada last year. It was a great day trip and a wonderful time. In Ensenada, you can just walk around and shop, bar hop and eat or you can go whale watching or sport fishing.
The unit’s giant balcony is over 30 feet wide and has a gas barbecue. We are decorating with Mexican painters from Remedios Varo and Frida Kahlo to local artists. The living room has a 50 inch 3-D television with a DVD/BluRay player, 250 Dish Network channels and a stereo with iPod dock. There is also wireless internet.
The enormous master bedroom has a balcony overlooking the ocean. It has a king size bed, Jacuzzi tub, walk-in closet, flat screen television with a DVD player and 250 Dish Network satellite channels.
The second bedroom is huge with a king sized bed as well as 2 queen-sized self-inflating blow-up mattresses, its own bathroom and a television with DVD player and satellite channels.
Club Marena has two pools, each with a hot tub. Our favorite is the kid-friendly pool near the gym which has a pool table. The pool on the point is technically the 'owners' pool and renters are sometimes asked to limit themselves to the other pool. I have never used the 'owner's' pool so I can't really say. There are two tennis courts right outside the unit for your enjoyment. In the unit there are tennis rackets and boogie boards, some floating noodles for the pool, as well as an assortment of wet suits in various kid sizes, as our kids have out grown them over the years. There is a separate laundry room with washer and dryer and cabinets full of towels. The unit has an assigned covered parking space as well as visitor’s spaces if you have more than one car.
Fell in Love with it for the surfing, but we stayed because we missed it every time we left.
Bob & Anna purchased this condo in 2005
The pictures can't do it justice! The Safety and Security of the 24/7 Guard Gated Compound. You can bring in your own food and never leave the resort or do like we do and use it as a base and day trip while you look forward to coming home to nest.
World Famous Surf Break plus the Luxury that had Russell Crowe staying here during the filming of Master and Comander: Far Side of the World
We very much enjoyed our stay in this unit. It was very comfortable, spacious and quiet, with beautiful views, beautifully decorated and was very clean. The kitchen has all the basics: pots, pan, dishes, a few spices to get started and most importantly, a sharp knife! I was able to cook some nice meals at the house because everything we needed was there. A grill, that works great, on the balcony that offers serene views, we enjoyed the ocean view in the big balcony, we loved the sound of the waves crashing, was very relaxing. The property is in an excellent location; close to downtown, but not too close, there is also a gym and pool within a short walking distance. Property owners are great. Although we didn't have reason to bother them about anything, everything was explained and we didn't had any problems at the condo or getting there, they were very responsive when arranging our stay at the condo, it was reassuring to know that they were available if needed. We would love to return soon!
Very peaceful very beautiful very clean everything was perfect will definitely be back
We travel the world and this is one of the 'nicest' places we have stayed. It is ultra clean, comes equipped with everything you might need, and is comfortable. It is very large and has the 'Best View' for that morning coffee or afternoon wine out on the balcony. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you for a fantastic week!
Wonderful place. Lots to do in Rosarito or just relax
This was our second visit at Club Marena (two years in a row post Xmas) and wow...I totally made the right decision in choosing this unit over others. Compared to the unit we rented last year, this was one made it incomparable. We very much appreciated the local art but most importantly, things were: clean, well organized, and comfortable. Plenty of clean towels, linens, etc. Did I mention clean? I so appreciated that. View was amazing (as usual) and we even saw whales this time! Only slight negative was the construction adjacent to the property and the workers whistling at us every time we went to the pool/beach. Surf was epic, saw incredible sunsets, ate incredible food (we didn't use the kitchen at all except to make eggs and coffee) and made a side trip past Ensenada to stay at an amazing glamping place called CuatroCuatros. Can't recommend that place enough. Did an afternoon zip lining tour that was awesome! Bob and Anna - I will DEFINITELY return. Can't wait.
I have been going to Club Marena for years but our regular place was unavailable, Anna and Bobs place is clean comfortable and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The location is centered between Rosarito and Puerto Nuevo with a great surf break, pools, jacuzzi's and club house. Great security and well maintained grounds.
Anna was a joy to work with before and after our stay and we will definitely stay there again.
One of Baja's most famous surf point breaks is right outside your balcony. We spend hours watching the surfers carve. The photos just can't tell you how beautiful this place is. The restaurants in Puerto Nuevo, Ensenada, and Rosarito are some of the finest in Baja, From tacos at Tacos El Yaqui or venison and Margaritas at El Nido in Rosarito to Lobster dinners in Puerto Nuevo, you will have some of the best food of your life. There are day trips to whale watching or sport fishing in Ensenada and a delightful wine tasting tour through the wine country.
