Private setting on a quiet road.

We spent a long weekend at the house with a total of 12 people (including little kids). The property was great for us, with plenty of separate rooms for the whole crew. The house was clean and neat, providing the perfect launching pad for our daily adventures to all of the closely located attractions. The kitchen and large dining room table provided the perfect spot for family breakfast in the morning and family fun (trivia, other board games) at night. I look forward to staying here again next year.
We liked the location and the space. It was kind of classic 70's style ski home. We loved the big deck.
I liked the checkin/checkout easiness...using the lockbox was great.
Unfortunately many of the lights didn't work and/or were missing light bulbs. The main light on the landing inside the front door had to be jiggled in order for it to come on and was very intermittent.
The first floor shower didn't seem to work, no hot water. The downstairs shower was ok, but the only way to have any pressure was to have the hot water all the way on which got too hot, if you turned the hot water down, you lost pressure. But it worked. This bathroom had a dirty bath mat in it, I don't expect it to be perfect, but def not a stained dirty bathmat either.
Most of the windows are the crank style and at least half of them had broken cranks...def want to be able to open the windows in a home like this to let the air in.
This is minor, but it wouldn't take much to fix. The hot & cold are reversed on the sink in the kitchen, more of an annoyance than anything.
Overall we liked the place but for the amount of money it cost, I would have expected the first items mentioned above to have been in good working order.
The house was just as described very well maintained inside the house. The beds were not very comfortable but okay. The bedrooms were okay in size and the washer machine and dryer was so helpful !! We had brought our own detergent and we just washed the towels and clothes I loved that this was accessible to us!!! We couldn't turn on the big tv in the living room, it seem like there was no power? But we tried unplugging it and trying another extension cord and nothing worked so that was a bummer. Another thing was most of the boxed fans had broken blades so the fans could not be used. It was very uncomfortable in this summer heat. I really wished it was A/C it was torture. The back deck is really nice we did not use the grill but we had our own portable which was great. The view was so beautiful! We had some great times sitting out there telling stories and just having a great time. Getting in touch with the the owner was great she was such a nice person and always available if you needed her. The kitchen was very nice very will equipped with all really nice dishes to use and the dishwasher is clean and works very well. We did find that the downstairs room was nice and cool, that's where my family and I and our dog stayed all weekend because it was really cooler from the rest of the house. The backdoor downstairs did not have a screen door so we couldn't keep open for air. Only 2 Windows from
Downstairs opened. The downstairs tv worked we tried to set up the DVD player downstairs to watch our very own movies that we brought from home and we were not able to get the DVD player to work either it was very disappointing. But the house had lots of family games and we played games and cards and just had a good time. The exterior of the house is well maintained but needs new Windows they were very hard to open or some just didn't open. There is so much brush and debris around the house it would have been nice if it was landscaped and kept up with flowers and cut grass and chop out the poison ivy. Going back to the inside of the house the rooms were very nice but hot. The bathrooms were extremely clean and we loved it. Each bedroom was so adorably and clean. We enjoyed the White Mountains and will definitely try to come back every year !! Thanks for reading and enjoy your visit as we enjoyed ours.
We stayed at this property with two other families and all have small kids. The location on Black Mountain is excellent, close to North Conway and Story Land. We went to Santa's Village which is only about 45 minutes away and there are great views of Mt. Washington almost the whole way.
The property itself was great. Each room had a box fan in the closet, which was necessary during the summer. The layout of the house allowed the kids to play downstairs while the adults were upstairs. The big deck was a nice place to hang out.
The owner was very easy to get in touch with leading up to the rental. I had no need to contact them during my stay as everything went well.
This is definitely a property I would be interested in renting again.
The only thing we could not figure out was the kitchen light switch. It took us two days to find it! For reference if you are looking at the kitchen sink it is mounted to the outside of the cabinet to your left.
