We love the Central Coast, a special place we call Paradise. In 2003 we bought a hilltop property in upper Carmel Valley and now enjoy magnificent mountain views and serenity. We are always inspired by the natural surroundings of the beautiful Santa Lucia Mountains. We enjoy entertaining with our friends, family and grandchildren. From every visitor's perspective, our little corner of the world beckons vacationers to return again and again.
Karen Hoffman purchased this chateau / country house in 2003
We fell in love with Cachagua (Upper Carmel Valley), which reminds us of Tuscany. We love the quiet solitude and 360 degree mountain views from our hilltop vineyard. For city people who want sun and country, this is the place!
Mountain views forever, quiet, private and peaceful. A wonderful retreat!
While you are a bit away from civilization at the Tuscan Retreat, it is a worthwhile trek. The views are astounding and the house exudes a welcoming and relaxing ambiance. We were a group varying from 2-7 during our stay. We never felt crowded and the spaces were ample. The hot tub was used repeatedly as was the dining and living areas. We even had a surprise visitor as we discovered mountain lion tracks. All in all, this was an idyllic spot. You will not go wrong here.
I cannot say enough good things about the property or the owner. Karen was available for us throughout our stay. Even though we arrived late at night we just knew that this property was something very special. The stars on a clear night are a sight to behold. When we woke up early the next morning the mountain views were comparable in beauty to the stars the previous night. We were blessed with perfect weather for early February so we took advantage of it with the bocce ball courts, hiking and photography. The hot tub was in play every night and set at a perfect temperature. Our thanks to Karen for being a great owner and offering her beautiful home.
This place is MAGICAL!!!! We arrived and stayed there the whole time.
Absolutely Beautiful.. I had all my grown daughters, and my grandchildren, we cooked, HUGE open kitchen, laughed, swam... it was by far the best vacation yet!!
This place is a sanctuary... Everywhere you look, is just pure sweetness, lovely... Lots of sitting areas, Bird feeders, wind chimes.. We are planning our next week there!!
Our family of four had a terrific stay at the Tuscan Retreat. The property was immaculate, the scenery spectacular and the house had everything we needed. Karen was great to deal with, very responsive and helpful. We would love to return.
This is a beautiful retreat property with everything you need to have an amazing stay. The owner is fabulous and adds that "special touch" to make your stay personal and memorable. The property, landscape and pool are all beautiful and the house is welcoming and warm with more than everything you need to enjoy your time. We stayed here with our adult children and had a great time hanging out and enjoying this really wonderful home and all the amenities including bocci ball, horseshoes, pool, hot tub, and cooking in the well appointed kitchen. Highly recommend this property!
This place is amazing! We appreciated the attentive, thoughtful host, Karen, and the home and property were even better than the photos portray. So much thought was put into making sure that guests enjoy themselves. All around the beautiful property were little sitting areas with amazing views, well maintained landscaping, and bird feeders. You can just sit (or lay in a hammock) and watch and listen to hummingbirds and many other kinds of birds. There is something for everyone to do--relax on a hammock or in the hot tub, swim in the pool, play bocce ball or horseshoes, walk around the vineyards, or just hang out in the cozy living room and watch a movie or play games. The kitchen and pantry are well stocked and spacious. You pretty much need to cook on this vacation, since you are not super close to restaurants, but we loved not driving anywhere and we had all that we needed there.
I just kept thinking to myself, "THIS is the life!" It is sometimes hard to find a place that makes the kids, the parents AND the dog happy, and this place did just that.
Thank you, Karen, for renting out your special place to us. :)
