Located in the heart of the old, unique and beautiful neighborhood of Golden Hill, this is a prime location for a visit to San Diego. Located on a side street there is ample, safe and free parking. There is a single car Garage included.
Within just a few blocks you have the choice of a plethora of delicious local eateries. Cook your own steak at the legendary Turf Club, enjoy Humberto’s famous carne asada fries, or have a stone oven pizza while enjoying the outdoor patio of Luigis.
Just 4 minutes away you can visit the baby panda’s at the zoo or take in a museum and a walk through beautiful Balboa Park. Head about 1 mile straight down Broadway into the lively downtown, Gaslamp or Little Italy, extremely convenient for Convention Center visits. If you are too tuckered after a busy day downtown, grab a bus as it drops you off just 1/2 block from the bungalow. Want to see a spectacular view of the San Diego bay? Hop on the ferry and cross the bay to Coronado for a day on the island. Golden Hill has easy access to all the major San Diego highways, making a trip to most San Diego beaches just 10-20 minutes away.
The bungalow is the perfect home away from home to return to after a funfilled day in San Diego. With granite countertops and stainless steal appliances, the kitchen provides all the amnemities needed to cook your own fish tacos! Pots, pans, cooking utensils, dishes are all provided. Sit under the avocado tree, and enjoy the dual BBQ and charcoal grill on the patio/lounge area while relaxing in our comfy lounge chairs. Beware of falling avocados! Grab them for some homemade guacamole!
Sit back on the couch and enjoy the flat screen tv with HDTV or hop on the internet with our free WiFi. Did your clothes get sandy at the beach? We have on site washers and dryers that are FREE with soap provided.
Each room is decorated with the comforts of home in mind. Sheets, towels and blankets are all provided as well as dish soap, toilet paper and paper towels.
Have pets? We are a pet friendly property and the yard provides a great romp and play area for your dog.

Convenience is key to this site; being centrally located & right near several freeways, it makes sightseeing easy. On the bus line, it facilitates transport needs for those without cars. Cleanliness & comfort underscore how this site is evaluated. The tropical ambience contributes to the vacation atmosphere.
There is a pizza parlor, cafe, coffee shop, taco shops & several bars close by & a small grocery & bakery within feet of site. Contempo, two blocks away is a popular brewery. The golf course is just blocks away & closeness to zoo & Balboa Park makes visiting a must.
We stayed in unit #4 for four nights in February 2017. Arrival was hassle-free and we appreciated the early check-in. Garage is very small but we managed to squeeze our Prius rental in with a couple of inches to spare either side of the mirrors. Apartment was clean – bathrooms and fridge/stove/microwave were spotless. Paint on the walls could use some freshening – they looked a bit grimy.
Kitchen has the basics but if you advertise that it “sleeps 4” you should have 4 of everything, 4 wine glasses, 4 tumblers, etc. Coffee maker needed cleaning and knives definitely need sharpening. Cupboards drawers and doors tended to “stick.” It was a bit cool for us to avail ourselves of the courtyard BBQ’s but there appeared to be several available. I agree with the previous comment about the courtyard landscaping needing some trimming and clean-up.
Complimentary laundry - brand new large capacity LG W/D - was greatly appreciated! A motion sensitive light leading to the exterior laundry room would be extremely helpful.
The queen pillow-top bed sagged in the middle but we “made-do.” The sofa bed frame needs fixing and the mattress needs replacing – don’t even consider trying to sleep anyone here unless it’s small children.
Location is excellent – the little grocery store on the corner was perfect and we enjoyed the food at Krakatoa + Humbertos.
In short, this is a fairly well-equipped compact apartment with an excellent location. It needs some care but is still very good value for the price.
The apartment is very cute and a perfect size for 2 people. The kitchen was well stocked, the living room was a good place to relax and the bed was comfortable. It is in a great neighborhood with several places to eat within walking distance. It was also great to have parking for our car. However, the place does need some TLC. It was surface clean but it did need a deep cleaning. The outside area, although beautiful, was somewhat overgrown and needed to be trimmed. We enjoyed our stay but with so many other places in the area we would choose somewhere else next time. We had friends who stayed here several weeks after we did so we privately emailed the owner with this information hoping they would take care of any problems before our friends arrived. However, the apartment was in the same condition as when we were there. Hopefully, the owners will consider a good cleaning and perhaps some paint.
The property is conveniently located to get to many of the wonderful things San Diego has to offer. A real plus was the garage but it is small as posted. We loved it.
Regarding the unit, overall we felt the entrance to the grounds needs a major trimming, the overgrowth in the pathways without the proper lighting can be a negative and a bit disconcerting if you are a single person traveling. Also a good cleaning so it was clean enough to sit outside a one of the many tables/chairs. Our unit was clean but I really don't feel leaving leftovers from other tenants is appropriate without knowing the age of the products, they should be trashed after each tenant unless expiration dates posted. We did not use them. The dishware could use replacing, not all of the dishware and utensils were plentiful. The bedding in the bedroom needed an update as well. The queen bed mattress in the bedroom was such that my husband and I fell into the center, so uncomfortable. One evening our daughter stayed with us and we opened the soft bed. The foam mattress was very worn and stained. We closed it up and she slept on a blow up she brought with her.
This unit could be a real hidden gem with a good face lift of replenishing of the above mentioned items and maybe a deep cleaning or painting of the unit. And as a note to the staff, there was a spray bottle of insecticide for bed bugs and fleas sitting in full view of other tenants. Not sure if there was a problem with either as I do know pets are permitted. Maybe for renters peace of mind these type of items can be stored elsewhere.
Pounce's in Kensington is a great Mexican restaurant as well as Bankers Hill Grill in Banker's Hill. Any of the Tender Greens locations are always a safe bet and delicious. We know the founders/chefs. The Red Door in Hillcrest was a nice american restaurant, very cozy. Cafe Chole was great for brunch, best lavender mimosas. We used Uber at night and it worked well. San Diego has grown a lot, so lots of new restaurants to explore along with all the attractions to visit. A city not to be missed.
With all the other options in the area and in the same price range I don't think we would rent again at this location upon return. However, it did not dampen our visit.
My wife and I stayed five days, four nights here for our honeymoon. We got in and found a well-stocked kitchen--all we needed was to fill the fridge with our own groceries--as well as a comfy and spacious living room with a large TV. The bedroom was very nice, and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit small, particularly the shower, but still well-maintained and stocked very well. The towels and linens provided were very comfortable and above what we expected. The complex itself was very nice, with the lush foliage and greenery a relaxing sight every day; we even had coffee one morning in the atrium outside. The only knock I could possibly have--and this is no fault of Ron and Sue, who were terrific hosts and kept the place very nice for our stay--would be that the door to the main entrance gate is only somewhat functional. The handle and the lock are not connected, which can lead to some frustrating attempts to enter the complex; only when we entered our code and held the door handle in a particular way against the lock could we actually get the door to unlock. This could be an easy fix, and it honestly wasn't that big a deal during our stay. The condo itself was terrific and comfortable, located very conveniently by a cafe, pizzeria, coffee shop, natural foods store and several Mexican restaurants. Ron and Sue have a great condo and are terrific and informative hosts. Next time you're in San Diego, check this place out instead of a hotel. It's worth it. Two thumbs way up!
Property was comfortable for a smal family. The only issue that I had was that the garage was very small for our truck and we had difficulties getting things in and out of the car. So I tried to contact the owners several times to see about switching the garage space. They never replied. Poor customer service on their part, I called and left a voicemail on the number they listed, no replies and one number, the person who answered said the number was wrong? I dialed as the number was provided. I proceeded to text and I never got a response. I also messaged them and never got a response. Thankfully they have a nice janitorial staff who was able to direct us and help us to The best of their knowledge. But if you have an emergency or important question don't rely on getting a reply from anyone, they do not tend to the forms of communications they listed.
Very nice property owners did everything they could to help us with our stay from early check -in to extra beds for our guest. was a really nice place to stay would do it again.
This is near Balboa Park & Zoo, just 3 min away by car. It is 6 min away from Gaslamp District with great restaurants/bars. Also 8 min from Convention Center. Bus line is on same street which gets to Gaslamp & Downtown Shopping Mall in 15 min. Close to major freeways which get you to Beaches in 20 min.
