Cleanliness & comfort underscore how this site is evaluated. The tropical ambience contributes to the vacation atmosphere.

Considering the area-having the garage was great. Just a precaution-an SUV or minivan would probably not fit. We have an Avalon and it just made it. When we thought we forgot an item after we left, it was very easy contacting the owners. We had our two preschoolers with us. It was a tight fit. Probably a better unit for a couple or a couple with one child. The unit was clean and the garden areas very lovely.
Positives of this unit: Comfortable, Air Conditioned (needed this particular weekend) private parking in garage, kitchen is well stocked (nice s/s pans), clean, nice stove and refrigerator. Bed is comfortable, bathroom very nice. Nice neighborhood with a GREAT coffee shop within a short walk down the street; Krakatoa Coffee. A very nice grocery/butcher/vegetable market equally close.
Unit can be a little noisy from the other people staying there, and from planes landing at SAN. (I like planes, so this was not an issue for me :-) They seem to stop landing around 10:00PM. Private garage is large enough for a VW Eurovan, so any car will fit. Garage door opens to courtyard of the building, and your car enters from the alley behind the building. Historic building, owned by Wyatt Earp.
We would have no hesitations about staying here again anytime we have activities in San Diego that require staying overnight.
Great apartment in the city! Would stay again. MUCH better than paying for a hotel in the city. The garden enterance was really neat. The kids loved it! We walked up for pizza at Luigi Pizza (excellent), bakery and Balboa park. Quick drive to conference center and Zoo. Nice to have a garage (will fit a mid size SUV or less). Owners with great communication.
We had a wonderful time!! The rental is in a great location, very clean, nicely decorated, and stocked with the essentials! The neighbors were wonderful and we met so many lovely people. There is an organic grocery store less than a block away with a great selection. We were minutes from great hiking trails and we enjoyed the local cuisine. Didn't rent a car for this trip but Lyfts were very reasonable with the centralized location. We would certainly stay here again and again!!!
We had a great stay at this VRBO. Pictures are accurate and the place was nice and clean. The unit itself is very comfortable and works well for two. The kitchen is well equipped to do any meal in - breakfast, lunch or dinner and with working barbecues in the garden, we did some of each. There a good grocery store and bakery at the corner. Good and sufficient towels in the bathroom. It is at the back of a deep property ( you go through a lovely garden to get to it) so you are not bothered by street noise. We had a little mix-up over access to garage space which we had been expecting, but ended up not having too much difficulty finding street parking - more challenging the later we got home. But we found it. And Bob compensated us for the mixup by giving us one night for free which we appreciated.Easy to get to all the interesting places. It is on transit so you could get around without a car. We were visiting some relatives on Coronado and up the coast so wanted a car. I would recommend this place.
The condo was clean and well equipped and a great value for the price. Everything we needed for our stay. The bed was very comfortable. The garage was small, but fit our rental nicely. It was great to have to garage as the parking on the street filled up early in the evening. One other note for renters - planes fly overhead frequently, but the stop before it gets too late so it wasn't a big deal at all. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
There is a local Mexican bakery right down the street - it is amazing! Check them out. Around the corner there is a restaurant called Humberto's. Best Mexican we had while in San Diego and very reasonable. Both had 4+ stars on Yelp and we agreed. Check them out!
This is near Balboa Park & Zoo, just 3 min away by car. It is 6 min away from Gaslamp District with great restaurants/bars. Also 8 min from Convention Center. Bus line is on same street which gets to Gaslamp & Downtown Shopping Mall in 15 min. Close to major freeways which get you to Beaches in 20 min.
