About Kevin Griffin

My wife and myself live about an hours drive away from the cottage and had many a great times in Ayrshire which resulted in buying the cottage to enjoy a more permanent link in the area and share the experience with other holidaymakers!

Kevin Griffin purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Kevin Griffin chose Scotland

This property was chosen for its unique charm and lovely period features taking you back to the Ayrshire of Robert Burns time and located on a road he would have travelled on in the open countryside.

What makes this cottage unique

The stunning Ayrshire countryside views from the living room and bedroom windows are what make this cottage so special and a paddock next to the cottage often has horses which come right up to our fence to be fed!

Great find

  • 5 of 5

Such an impressive cottage - booked to stay near to Brigadoon for a family wedding - looked for somewhere quiet to stay as bring my elderly parents along with me. The Cottage was just perfect in everyway. cosy - clean, well furnished, ideally situated, to be close enough to Ayre yet just outside by 4 miles enough to escape to the country feel. The neighbouring cottage breeds dogs, yet you would have no idea, they are never heard day or night - the couple that live there are so friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them when I needed some thread. The owner of this cottage was also extremely friendly and helpful. always contactable and helpful. a real pleasure. Thoroughly added to the pleasure of staying here and the stress of the wedding taken away. thoroughly recommend this cottage as a real gem in the heart of Ayre.

Perfect cottage in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

This property has everything you need. Very easy to explore from here. The owners are always just a phone call away any are very helpful. We loved our stay here, we stayed for one week at the beginning of June, we took our Labradoodle dog who loved to run in the garden or sit on the doorstep and watch the world go by. It was lovely to wake up in the morning to the sounds of the sheep on the hills. The scenery from the living room and bedroom windows is stunning. We drove to Girvan, Art, Culzean and Turnberry but can access much mire. There are many really nice eating places within easy reach, many have outside eating areas which allow the dog to go along, we recommend The Balgarth Pines in Doonfoot, a short drive away. We were so lucky because the weather was gorgeous for our whole week. Highly recommend this cottage, we will definitely be going back. Ian, Patricia and Rolo from Glasgow.

This was a lovely cottage in a lovely spot!, we enjoyed our few days away. Found the cottage to be spotlessly clean, found everything we needed whilst we were there. A perfect home from home… We took our dog with us, and the neighbours were very helpful pointing out the best places to take him. All in all will definitely be back again :)

A wee holiday - home from home

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Alloway Cottage was wonderful and very relaxing.

We booked and paid through HomeAway Website which made it very easy. We received a confirmation/extra information from owner with everything we needed.

When we arrived at the cottage it was even more lovely than we thought. It was so quiet and watching the stars at night was heaven.

It was very easy to find - not far from Burns Cottage and Ayr also knowing the area also.

Inside the cottage was a picture to see with its log burner in the living room (which we had going in the evenings) The view from the living room window was spectacular and l was never tired of looking out of it, watching the sheep on the hill.

There were added touches such as: plenty of books, DVD's and board games, if you get fed up of watching the Satellite TV in the living room. Not forgetting the Wii which had plenty of games also

There was plenty of information about the local area of what was going on and places to visit. With the good internet connection you had the choice to go on line also and find out more.

The kitchen was very well fitted out with everything you could every need for your stay: Dishwasher, Microwave, Toaster, Sandwich Maker, Washing Machine, Oven, Hob, Kettle & Fridge with a small freezer compartment. It has a lovely old sink which you don't often see. The cupboards were full of all the crockery/cutlery and cooking utensils you would every want. Not having to take any linen/towels with us at all was very helpful.

The two bedrooms were made up prior to our arrival. Both rooms were very clean and had adequate wardrobe/drawer space, enough to accommodate everyone. There was a hairdryer, iron & ironing board in the main bedroom which was very handy.

The only minor problem we had was that the thermostat to the heating was in the front room and on our last night we ran out of wood and the room cooled but not enough for the heating to kick in.

Overall we had a fantastic time at Alloway Cottage and have recommend it to others already. We will be checking the cottage out for another visit.
