A unique home in the heart of East Nashville with that Music City Country feel yet is walking distance to the popular stores and restaurants of Porter Road and Eastland, minutes from Five Points, and just a few miles from downtown Nashville (~4 miles) and convenient interstate access. This house is also near Shelby Park, the Shelby Golf Course and the Greenway nature trails.
My great grandfather built this charming log house in the 1930s to accommodate his large family. As a railway worker and renaissance man, he reused and re-purposed materials to build the home- the ceiling joists from the railway roundhouse service station were used for the walls, boxcar wood now serves as the hardwood floors, and marble from Union Station lines the bathroom floors. Much of this neighborhood used to be the family farm and has a musical history of hosting bands from the Opry and Nashville recording artist.
The home features 2 king bed rooms, 2 queen bed rooms, and has three full baths. Each bedroom has individual, private locks.
The home is only four miles to downtown and is located in the heart of popular East Nashville, walking distance to shops and restaurants, where you can get coffee, ice cream, drinks, dinner and souvenirs. The house is on a corner lot with a large front yard and a gravel driveway that allows access from both streets. The front porch swing and rocking chair are great places to relax and enjoy the neighborhood.
The home is furnished, has central heat and air conditioning and ceiling fans, wifi Internet, and Comcast cable with a large HD TV. The house also has a dishwasher, stove, microwave, refrigerator with ice maker, coffeemaker, toaster, kettle and a compact washer and dryer. A bus stop is located just footsteps away where Tillman Lane meets Porter Road.
The Sun King and Ice Queen rooms are divided by a full bathroom. The bathroom doors may be locked from the inside and outside for privacy. The Sun King features a modern decor with a king bed, large chest of drawers, closet, bedside table, small table and chair, ceiling fan and sun-blocking curtains. The Ice Queen features an antique decor with a queen bed, bedside table, mirrored closet, small table, desk, chair and ceiling fan.
The Green Queen bedroom features a queen bed, mirrored closet, chest of drawers, chair, ceiling fan and small bedside table/bench. The recreation/study room is next door to this bedroom but is separated by a door that locks on both sides.
The Sea King bedroom has a private exterior entrance. The room features a king bed, ceiling fan, two closets, large chest of drawers made by the Amish, a bench, small table, and mirror with coat/key hooks.
The Log House is in a residential and commercial neighborhood of East Nashville. Shops and restaurants are two blocks away on Porter Road and Eastland, and the popular Five Points area is about 2 miles away. Downtown Nashville, Lower Broadway, Riverfront and many main tourist attractions are about 4 miles away. It usually takes around 10 -13 minutes to get from the Log House to downtown and a cab is approximately $11 for two people. We also have Uber and Lyft and a lot of those drivers are available in East Nashville. Taxis are typically only available outside of the airport or downtown.
From the Log House to Green Hills in the heart of West Nashville a cab for two people will be about $26 and it takes about 20 minutes if you use the Interstate to travel the 13 miles.
There is usually a flat rate from the airport to any location of about $25.
We require a two night minimum reservation. Special restrictions apply for CMA Fest.
Check-in is typically from noon on, unless we have a guest checking-out the day of your arrival. If we have a check-out and check-in on the same day, your check-in time will most likely be from 4pm on. Check-out time is usually before noon. If we have a guest checking-in the same day as your check-out, your check-out time will be before or at 10 a.m
Please note the Log House is located in the heart of a residential and commercial neighborhood. We ask that all guests are respectable of the neighborhood and must keep noise levels within appropriate levels and city ordinance time frames.
Please note that TN requires a 9.25% sales tax, a 6% Occupancy tax and a $2.50 occupancy tax per night of your reservation. VRBO only lets you list one tax through their system so all reservations will have an additional tax invoice. Please note that due to the Nashville short-term rental law, no vacation rental is allowed to have more than 12 guests or 4 bedrooms.

If you are looking to have a large group stay in Nashville, this is the place. The location is far enough away to relax with friends and family, but close enough to Honky Tonk at a moments notice. Lanier was a great host and was extremely helpful with our weekend stay.
Was pleasantly surprised at the charm and atmosphere of the cabin. We rented the spacious cabin for our daughters 21st B-Day bash in Nashville. We had more than enough room to accommodate the 12 people. Would have given 5 stars if not for the low water pressure in the showers. The owner was very helpful and accommodating to our arrival time. Very quick and easy to get to downtown Nashville using Uber and the 5 - Point area nearby has great restaurants to enjoy close by. Would definitely look to rent again when going back to Nashville.
Plenty of rooms and space for a family. Historic and rustic yet modern comforts such as cable TV and WiFi. The owner/manager is absolutely wonderful! Great communicator, honest, trust worthy and very helpful
Bathrooms are a little small and the showers need a little help in the plumbing category but the beds are fine and plenty of furniture to spread out on or gather together with.
We held a family reunion at the log house. There was enough room for two families with kids to stay comfortably, and there was a large dining room with a farm-style table that allowed us to have a large gathering for meals, including family members that were staying elsewhere. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals. The living room had a nice social layout with a big TV. We did not get to enjoy the porch due to the weather but it looked lovely. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were clean and roomy. We stayed there on a bitterly cold weekend, and yet the temperature inside the home was very comfortable, not drafty. The location is great - we could have walked to the strip of restaurants on Eastland (and only didn't because it was about 20 degrees). The house is a short drive (1 mi) to the Shelby Bottoms Greenway and Nature Center, also good for kids. Grocery and shopping are close. The wifi was reliable, and supported everyone's devices. The house is rustic and does have a shabby-chic decor going, so you have to like that atmosphere, but if that sounds like fun, then you will love the house. Probably bigger than you'd need for one family, but highly recommended for larger groups. The owner was very friendly and met us on arrival.
This cabin was perfect ! It was spacious and cozy. We had 12 people with us and everyone slept comfortably. We took uber all weekend and it was about a 10 minute drive downtown . Such a great time we definitely will be back !
This was our second time to stay at the Log House. We absolutely LOVE this place! It is the perfect place for our family gathering with plenty of beds for everyone. It is a relaxing environment for adults and the house is very kid-friendly too. It's in a great location too - just a few minutes from the airport, grocery store, Vanderbilt, shopping, restaurants . . . anything you need. Plus, there are 2 coffee shops and an ice cream shop within walking distance. Our whole family looks forward to our morning strolls for coffee and evening trips for dessert. Lanier Brandau is such a gracious host in opening her home to renters. She makes sure that our stay is every bit as wonderful as we expect it to be. Can't wait to go back again!!
