Downstairs fully remodeled since pictures taken. Four bedrooms, one with double bed, one with queen-sized bed, one with two queen-sized beds, and one with twin beds. An Ikea sectional sofa in living room that can sleep two. Two full bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and living room. Large front porch across the length of the house -half of it screened in with a picnic table and a swing on the open porch. Large yard with permanent badminton/volleyball pole sets and permanent horse shoes. Washer/dryer on the premises. Full swimming dock with boat hoist. Cable television and internet service. Great for big family.
This is a two sided opinion. First the bad: The cable went out about every 1/2 hr. and didn't come back for about 15 minutes, each night. The A/C is woefully inadequate--in the downstairs bedroom there's a teeny weeny a/c, and the same in one of the bedrooms upstairs. Even cranked up they leave the house sticky and hot. We found if we turned the oven on (our daughter made cookies) to 350 for 1/2 hr. and the a/c in the downstairs bedroom, we could get the downstairs to feel a little dryer. The stair case between floors has no backing. Meaning you can see through the stairs. Our 10 lb. dog was terrified of that and we had to pick him up to take him up or down. The spindles are over 12" apart. These are not good steps for toddlers and little ones. The light switches are in precarious places. We were there a week and by the 4th night we were in agony because the beds were so uncomfortable. We didn't sleep well so we napped alot. THe linens provided smelled like cigarettes. Cigarette smoke wafted over from owner's home to us. The good: fabulous view of the lake! Lots of room to spread out. Quiet. Nice long dock. Can sleep 9 or more if you have sleeping bags. Clean. Modern. Newly painted. Nice.
This was our second year back at the cottage. The place is perfect for our large group getting together for a family reunion. As others have said, the best part is the screened in porch/covered porch with the swing. Judy and Mike were wonderful and accommodating for anything we needed. And the kids love playing in all the water toys. Absolutely wonderful!!
This Lake House could not have been more perfect for our family of 10. The house was accommodating for all of us and very well kept. Comfort was key and it was Comfy!! The porch was a beautiful and perfect place to convene as a group, the firepit had a spectacular view of the lake at night. The Aqua Glide swim float was a wonderful treat for the kids. We are already planning our 2015 summer trip back to the house!! Thank you Mike and Judy for a great experience!
We spent a week at the cottage and were pleasantly surprised with the renovations. The house is one of the cleanest we have stayed in. The kitchen could use some extras as far as spices (we didn't pack any), and large bowls for meal prep. The porch was our favorite feature and came in handy when the rain came! Judy and Mike were more than helpful and accomodating. Judy even worked hard at seaweed removal! We would recommend this cottage and the surrounding beauty of Cayuga Lake.
We stayed at this cottage on Cayuga Lake in Seneca Falls for two weeks. It was everything we hoped for and more! The cottage has been mostly redone - new kitchen, new family furniture, new bedroom furniture. The cottage was very clean and well-maintained and can comfortably sleep 10 people. The owners, Judy and Mike, could not have been more welcoming. We loved the large screened in porch, kayaking, and fishing - perfect for getting away and relaxing. There are a few good restaurants within 10 minutes, along with Cayuga Lake State Beach, and a couple general stores. Rochester, Ithaca and Watkins Glen are less than an hour away. We were all very sad to leave when our vacation was over. We hope to rent again.
The cottage is located 10 miles south of Seneca Falls on a quiet off-road. Ithaca, a funky town that features many artisans, natural eateries, and two colleges (Ithaca and Cornell) is at the bottom of the lake about 45 minutes away. It is at the top of the Cayuga Lake wine and cheese trail. All conveniences are no more than 10 minutes away. Cayuga Lake is very big with minimal boat traffic. The cottage is at road level and the beach and dock are 12 steps down. You can swim on the property (no drop offs) and there are two sand bar beaches within a 10 minute boat ride. Fishing off property dock is good or elsewhere in the lake. There are many Amish and Mennonite shops in the area. Seneca Falls is the home of the Women's Rights Movement and has many museums and attractions. There are all kinds of restaurants from a wonderful 50s diner up to fine dining in the Hotel Clarence. The countryside is rural with sweeping vistas and all the lake views are gorgeous. It is really lovely here. We call it paradise.
