About Marc Brunelle OR Minnie Richardson

emme Chalets is a small, family-owned business based firmly in the Laurentians, Quebec, but with roots spreading much further afield. By acquiring this domaine* in June 2013, our small family - part Quebecer, part British - is continuing a tradition of hosting that began in 2010, when we purchased our first short-term rental property in the Laurentians, the Snow Chalet.

Owning and managing these holiday chalets allows us to do what we love: provide comfortable places to relax and spend quality time with friends and family, and showcase the beauty of our Laurentian region. emme Chalets is your home away from home in a stunning natural environment! So make the most of your holidays and we look forward to welcoming you to our chalets!

Marc Brunelle and Minnie Richardson (and Milo!)

Guestbook comments from the owner

There is no end to what you can do in and around our chalets!...

THE GREAT OUTDOORS - SPORT

Within walking distance of the chalets: you will find an outdoor ice rink (by the Post Office and kids play park) and a set of hiking trails that start behind the church in the village and take you up through the trees to the top of the hill where the view is great!

Hiking, x-country ski-ing and snow shoeing trails (year-round): can be found at L'Interval in Sainte-Lucie (25 mins) and Parc Dufresne in Val David (20 mins). Both parks have incredible scenery and offer x-country ski and snow shoe rental.

Downhill Ski-ing & Snowboarding: Belle Neige in Val Morin and Mont Garceau and Mont La Réserve in Saint-Donat are your nearest options, all about a half hour's drive.

Biking: the 40km long Inter-Vals mountain bike trail links Saint-Donat with the P'tit Train du Nord bike trail in Sainte-Agathe, passing through l'Interval park and the village of Sainte-Lucie (at the church). You can also rent bikes in Sainte-Agathe and enjoy 230km of the scenic P'tit Train du Nord trail.

Ice-skating: outdoor skating rinks are everywhere in Quebec! There is a rink in the centre of Saint-Lucie village open December through March, and we also suggest you check out the great loop on Lac Masson in nearby Sainte-Marguerite (15 mins) where you can rent skates, and also the skating trail through the forest in St-Donat (30 mins).

River kayaking & canoeing: can be enjoyed directly from the village of Val David (20 mins).

Dog sledding, horse-riding, fishing (fly and regular), ice fishing, trapping and more: can be found at nearby Kanatha-Aki (30 mins).

Snowmobile: emme Chalets are situated a mere 300m from the 33 national trail connecting Saint-Donat with Sainte-Marguerite! If you don't have you own, you can easily rent one in nearby Sainte-Agathe.

EATING - DRINKING - SHOPPING

Sainte-Agathe (12 mins) - take a stroll on the section of rue Principale closest to the lake and you will come across a number of restaurants... French, German, Chinese... Enjoy! Sainte-Agathe also provides everything you need in terms of shopping: grocery stores, SAQ (state liquor store), pharmacies, hardware stores, as well as some interesting boutiques.

Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson (15 mins) - hang out in internet café Café O'Marguerites with organic produce, live shows and much more, or go out for a special French meal at the renowned Bistro à Champlain.

Val David (20 mins) - from micro-brewery Le Baril Roulant to eclectic cafés like C'est la Vie and Général Café to fine cuisine restaurants like Clémentine - where you can BYOB - and Le Creux du Vent, Val David has a wide and varied choice of places to eat, drink and be merry. Val David also has a Metro grocery store, pharmacy and a few other small shops (including a great wooden toy and board games store). Don't miss the Val David Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings 9am to 1pm from early June through October!

(BIG & SMALL) KIDS' STUFF

Outdoor play areas: Sainte-Lucie has a small play area that will easily satisfy younger guests. Sainte-Agathe has a larger play area at Place Lagny, which becomes even more exciting in the winter when the big, man-made sledding slide is put up.

Indoor play area: Jungle Magique at Mont Blanc (35 mins) for kids 1-12 years old may be a saving grace on a really cold or really wet day! They also offer daycare if you want to hit the slopes.

Village de Père Noel (25 mins): this kids' activity centre with much more than just Father Christmas (paddling pool and water games, animals you can pet and feed, etc.) is open June through September, and then again during the month of December.

Au Pays des Merveilles (30 mins): this fairytale amusement park is open June through August, and limited opening hours in September.

Snow tubing: there are 2 tubing centres in the area. Aventures Neige in St-Jovite is small, but inexpensive and is a 30-minute drive away. Mont Avila in St-Sauveur is more expensive and bigger but just as fun (35 mins).

Water park: the Saint-Sauveur water park is great fun for slightly older kids and is just over half an hour from the chalets.

Indoor swimming pool: the Super8 in Sainte-Agathe is inexpensive and has a great pool with slides and fun for kids.

RELAXING - INTROSPECTION

Spas: for a massage, steam room or sauna experience that will leave you red-cheeked and relaxed, we recommend the Spa d'Howard (30 mins, lovely country roads) which is small, cozy and inexpensive. L'Auberge du Vieux Foyer in Val David (under 15 mins) is also a good choice for sauna and massages, though they don't have a steam room. If you prefer something larger (and busier), then you might want to try Tremblant's Spa Scandinave (40 mins).

Movie theatre: Cinema Pine (30 mins) in Sainte-Adèle plays films in both English and French.
