About Dia Michels

I moved to Washington DC in 1980 to save the world. Unfortunately, the world could still use quite a bit of help! I, however, fell in love with DC and never left. I met my husband in 1981 and we have lived here ever since. This home was our first house in DC. We currently live in a larger and newer (1905) townhouse in the same neighborhood. We fell in love with Capitol Hill and have raised our three kids here. We love the area and want to share it with others.

Dia Michels purchased this townhome in 1983

Why Dia Michels chose Eastern Market

This 1858 charming home is from the Civil War era. The house has been totally upgraded with an open layout, 4 flat screen TVs, an amazing leather sectional sofa, fabulous beds and a lovely front porch and backyard. In addition, we just installed solar panels on the roof! Just one block off Barracks Row, the house is caddy-corner to the Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., the oldest active post in the Corps and near the Washington Naval Yard and old Naval Hospital (now a community center). The house is quaint, yet spacious and with a location just 8 blocks from the U.S. Capitol, the location is ideal.

What makes this townhome unique

Washington DC is a great place to spend time. The city is compressed, so you can get anywhere is a short time. We have great public transportation (the Eastern Market Metro is just 3 blocks away) and the city is flat, so it is perfect for walking and cycling. Rent this house for access to the entire city. Entertain friends, BBQ in the yard or walk around the block where there are dozens of restaurants. Live theater, great parks, free museums and baseball are all just a few steps away!

A great home in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

My family of four just stayed a week at this fantastic home. Dia, the homeowner, was very accommodating. She communicated everything very well and even obtained a parking permit for our car. The house is exactly as described and was most comfortable and quiet. The location is excellent as well. It is well within walking distance to restaurants, groceries, and the metro line. The rental fee for this home is quite reasonable for the area too. I cannot recommend this house highly enough. I have already mentioned to Dia that, should we ever return to the DC area, her house is the first place I'll check for availability. If you're looking to book a home rental in DC, look no further than this property. You'll be glad you did.

Location, Location, Location

Our family stayed in DC during one of the coldest Januarys on record, but our family of four adults were snug & comfortable in Dia's home.

This homes location was the feature we loved best. One block away from the restaurants on 8th Street, walking distance to Trader Joes and CVS, and if your legs are ready, you can walk to the National Mall as we did.

Dia was very easy to work with and extra helpful during our stay.

I highly recommend this rental!

Quintessential location for DC vacation

  • 5 of 5

Lovely historical home in one of the best Washington DC neighborhood locations with easy access to food, shopping, attractions and transportation. The home was just like advertised -

very attractive, well maintained and with an easy flow that included areas for everyone to have some space together and alone when needed. The kitchen and other areas were well stocked making it very homey and welcoming. Dia got us parking passes making that experience a breeze, checked in with us to make sure all was well, even had items for children and baby in our party and was a wonderful host. I highly recommend this home and will consider it again for other trips to visit our daughter and her family. Thank you!

Relaxing and Practical

  • 5 of 5

Our family (2 adults, 3 boys under age 12) and my parents stayed here while visiting DC for a week. The home worked perfectly for us with the kids staying in the middle bedroom (with convertable sofa). There was plenty of room downstairs for us to hang out and a nice outside space as well. The home is just a couple blocks from metro stop (quick ride to everything on our list) and there were many great restaurants close by. We appreciated how peaceful and friendly the neighborhood was and the boys loved being able to see the Marine Baracks from the front steps. We really didn’t need anything but Dia checked in with us a couple times just in case. Great place to stay.
