About stu flinn
Betty and I (Stu) retired about six years ago from a motel in central B.C., after more than 20 years. We missed meeting and visiting with people, so after moving to 'The Island' we decided that a vacation rental would be the answer.
Why stu flinn chose Crofton
When we discovered Crofton, we loved it and were convinced that it would be a perfect spot for vacationers wishing to experience this incredibly beautiful part of the world.
What makes this House unique
My greatest pleasure at Sunnyslope is settling down on the front balcony and simply letting the view, the quiet, and the incredible sea-breeze wash over me. It's soothing and uplifting at the same time. The hazard is that I sometimes resent having to return to the real world!

central and comfortable
The house was very spacious and comfortable for two couples, with room to entertain friends and family. Very quiet neighbourhood. We hoped for good weather so we could use the great outdoor decks and barbecue area but that didn't happen. However, we did enjoy the fireplace. We would certainly recommend it as a central point for exploring the area. Very economical, clean and pleasant.
This is a great review. Why? Because these good folks enjoyed their vacation at Sunnyslope despite the weather.
We work hard toward making a good first impression and making it last for your entire stay. Are we successful in this respect? You bet! How do we know ? People are giving us stellar reviews and are returning to Sunnyslope for their holidays.
And we are very grateful.
Property was pretty much as described. Well-maintained. Found everything we needed. Bill -- the onsite groundskeeper (he lives downstairs) -- was there to greet us and see us off.
Crofton is a sleepy town, not much for stores and dining out. There's about 5 options. Which works well for a getaway from the grind of busy life! It's a 1-minute drive to the ferry, which goes to Salt Spring island.
Up the hill are several family businesses on farmland; things like wineries, cheese-makers, etc. Pretty fun!
Home Away From Home
The Crofton house has absolutely everything you need to "live" comfortably in this area of Vancouver Island. We used the front and back decks often. The view from the front deck was beautiful. The large working barbecue in the backyard worked well for us. The little town itself is peaceful for an early morning walk.
Sunnyslope, a cosy and inviting home!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunnyslope. The house is lovely, very nicely appointed. Nice linens and towels. The beds are very comfortable, giving us very restful sleeps. We really enjoyed the ambience and warmth the fireplace gave us. Its nice to have the use of a washer and dryer and the convenience of a dishwasher. There are two decks. One overlooking the lovely yard in back and the other overlooking the water with a great view of Saltspring Island.
Bill, downstairs is knowledgeable and helpful without being intrusive. Thanks, Bill for the lovely roses picked from your garden, still blooming here at the end of October.
The property is central to all the activities we took in during our weeks stay. Saltspring Island is a short ferry ride from the terminal right here in Crofton. Chemainus and Ladysmith are short drives away and have wonderful bakeries and good coffee. The seawalk right here in Crofton is a nice walk along the water.
It was fun to explore the island and return to our cosy home away from home at the end of the day. Thank you Stu and Bill.
We very much loved this property!
We felt at home and comfortable, cozy and LOVED the view from the balcony. It was a pleasure to sit and relax overlooking the ocean and sip our coffee's. We were close to everything and central location to Duncan and other day trips we had planned. Bill was very friendly and helpful. The property was clean and well equipped with everything we could possibly want. We would stay here again and would highly recommend to anyone. We hope to visit again. Thanks again, we loved it!
Clean, cozy, well equipped home, great outdoor spaces and friendly hosts.
Well located home, lots of room to spread out and Bill in the basement suite was very welcoming. The kitchen was well equipped and the decks in the back yard and front were comfortable and the front deck had a beautiful view. The street is very peaceful, there is lots of parking and full laundry facilities.
As we were attending a wedding with lots of other out of town guests we became the central meeting place and there was lots of room to entertain everyone.
We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful escape.
Crofton is a village boasting a truly fine board-walk, beginning just below the museum and following the shore-line. Walk it when the tide's in and when the tide's out. At any time you may meet others enjoying the ambiance as you are. And you are always guarantied a friendly greeting. Even some pleasant and mutually gratifying conversation if you wish. Well worth your time!
