I am an Interior Designer, originally from the Midwest and Upstate New York. My husband, Ross, grew up in the cottage, he is now a fine artist and painting professor.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 1994
This property is my husband's childhood home. His parents rented, then purchased the cottage from a local landowner in the mushroom business. The house is filled with warm memories as well as examples of Ross's early paintings. He was and is strongly influenced by the beaurtiful Hudson Valley light!
The quiet setting is truly enchanting. I will never forget the first time I drove up the hill and saw the house and stone chimney surrounded by cedar trees. It is a special place!!
We had a wonderful Valentine's Day weekend getaway at Maureen's home. The house was prepped, heat turned on, and fireplace was all setup in anticipation of our arrival. Maureen was great with directions and recommendations and she made herself available throughout the weekend if we had any questions. The house is about a 2 hour drive from Manhattan and is far enough away from everything for privacy yet close enough to shopping and restaurants should you venture out. We definitely enjoyed a relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of NYC.
We had a great time with a couple of friends celebrating our anniversary in this cabin. It is nice and private. We loved the fire place and used it a lot! It is a great location and is close to Woodstock. We would definitely stay here again. My only complaint, there was no tea pot-as a tea drinker I would have liked to have one.
We had a lovely and easy stay at this little home while in the area for our daughter's horse show at HITS. The home was clean and stocked with the essentials. We don't spend much time in the home was rent for horse shows, but I wish we were able to spend more time here. It is a peaceful and serene property and cute home with interesting art, books, and decor.
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage over the holidays in December. The cottage is clean, well-kept, and bigger than we had expected it to be, but quite cozy with the fireplace in the living room. We had a fire going both evenings we were there - Maureen had firewood ready for us and we also stopped at Stewart's in Saugerties to pick up additional wood. The kitchen was easy to use and was well-stocked with dishes, wineglasses, utensils, pots and pans and coffeemaker, and it was enjoyable to have so much space to relax and cook. Maureen was prompt and easy to communicate with. The cottage was especially quiet, which we greatly enjoyed. We hope to come back again!
We just spent 2 nights at the cottage as we were in town for a horse show. The cottage is only about 7 mins from the showgrounds, so it was very convenient. Maureen was there to meet me, and show me around. She made me feel very welcome. The home is very well-kept and clean, and was actually a bit larger than I had expected. Maureen was also great about getting back to me quickly with any questions that I had. The only suggestion for improvement would be to get some shades or curtains for the bedrooms windows. All in all, it was a wonderful stay, and I'd definitely rent it again!
This property is gorgeous, quiet tucked away on a hill. Maureen was delightful to work with and very accomdating with me and the hounds. The house was impeccably cleaned and had everthing I needed. Its so much nicer than the pictures.
Lovely wooded setting in the mid Hudson Valley close to Saugeries and Woodstock. Enjoy hiking, swimming, leisurely drives, fine food and quiet relaxation. Check out the Lazy Swan Golf and Country Club, 5 minutes away, for a fine meal or a round of golf with views of the Catskills. Prime location for Horses in the Sun, HITS, visitors!
