Bonnieux is a great location for foodies. There are options to delight the palate every day of your stay if you can tear yourself away from the terrace, which gives stunning views throughout the day, enhanced still further by the sunset. The kitchen is superbly equipped, so you can also cater for yourselves if you wish, or indeed arrange for a local chef to come in and do that for you. This is a great base for touring the local area (Lacoste, Menerbes, Gordes, to name but a few) and towns such as Avignon, Aix were surprisingly accessible. There seemed to be a market every day of the week within easy reach, so there is no shortage of shopping and sightseeing opportunities if you can summon the energy to leave the poolside, with more than enough loungers for everyone. Very comfortable in every way, well thought through accommodation, with some lovely pictures on the walls, which make you want to go and visit the local galleries as well as the restaurants. Great location and the most welcoming hosts you could wish for. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Pay de femmes

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous spacious well equipped family home, ideal for up to three families. We had a truly amazing stay at Pay de femme this summer, the property is situated at the top of Bonnieux with outstanding views from a peaceful location. It comes with various eating and sitting locations and we found ourselves eating at home most evenings. Our favourite location under the plain tree with the amazing sunset and views. We hired a chef three times, reccomended by the property owner, she was wonderful! After dinner activities playing boules!

The pool was clean and inviting with plenty of loungers, I think twelve in total.

Bonnieux itself is one one of my favourite Provençal villages, providing a great butchers, bakers, small grocery store, various gift stores, a couple of great restaurants and a bike shop. On Saturday morning it host a fabulous market, with fresh fish, fruit and veg, nuts, spices, cakes and very soft cashmere scarves at a great price.

We hired electric bikes for the week from sun e bikes, perfect for riding down to the village for bread each morning and back up the hill to home. We also used them to ride to Lacoste and menerbes.

The property owner Mike was extremely helpful from the very beginning of our booking experience to the end. His staff of home greeters, cleaners and house keepers were very friendly and helpful.

I truly reccomended a stay here and I personally know that I will have family friends visit Pay de Femme in the future.

Amazing villa in a wonderful setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a marvellous holiday staying with family and friends in the wonderful villa, Pays des Femmes on the edge of Bonnieux. The house is ideal for a large group of discerning guests looking for luxury and privacy, in a beautiful setting with great views. We loved the interior of the villa - its sumptuous, with antique furniture, comfortable sofas and beds as well as interesting paintings. The kitchen is gorgeous and fully equipped. There is also a great outdoor kitchen near the pool. The pool area is huge with lots of space for sun loungers and relaxation all with a great view over the valley to the Luberon hills. There is also a super terrace for al fresco dining.

Bonnieux, an easy and scenic walk from the house. It is a very interesting quaint village with lots of old stonebuilt houses, winding streets and alleyways not to mention the lovely shops, galleries and restaurants. As an artist the location of the villa and the wider area of the Luberon was a great inspiration and we would like to return in the future.

Would not hesitate to recommend this villa.

Stunning and idyllic grand Provençal house and gardens

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a fabulous holiday in Provence. The house was idylic, secluded, and private. A real place to retreat to away from the hustle and bustle of the 21st century. It felt like a different world as you drove through the local medieval village of Bonnieux on your approach to the house, with a mix of apprehension, excitement and hope that you have booked something special for your friends and family.

We were not disappointed.

Tucked away at the top of the village this secluded house opens up as you drive through the gates to private secure parking, with lovingly tended gardens, stunning views of the valley and outside terraces with alfresco dinning. The house is decorated to a high standard and furnished throughout with stylish antiques. We loved the paintings by a local artist that were in the lounge. The bedrooms are spacious, and we always felt like there was privacy even with a big group of family and friends.

Although we were there to relax, we ventured out to visit the local sights, villages and towns, along with their markets (conveniently held on different days). We enjoyed lazy afternoons by the pool on our return, eating and drinking the local produce and wine just bought.

Some of our party prefered to drive down to the local village Bonnieux, but we enjoyed walking to pick up fresh bread every morning. The village has a number of great restaurants and we had a particularly fantastic long lunch at Le Fournil.

Many thanks Mike for all your help in organising our special requests. It was hard for us to leave but alas we had to bid fairwell, but we look forward to booking again and would highly recommend this house as a retreat from every day life and/or as a base to explore more of Provence.

Wonderful luxury villa with fantastic views

  • 5 of 5

We are a group of 10 adults and this was our 4th visit to the region. This is the best holiday experience we have had to date. The house is perfect: well equipped, beautiful welcome basket and L'Occitan bathroom products, very comfortable and spotlessly clean.

The house is equipped with very high quality bed linen / towels, kitchen and dinning equipment incl quality glassware and dinner service. It is as good outside as inside: Fabulous pool area with fridge / dishwashers etc, multiple terraces, table tennis.....and some unbelievably good views.

As close to paradise as you can get.

Thank you - we will be back.

Great house with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

This is a gorgeous house with spectacular views of the valley. We were a group of 12 adults and 2 children and we absolutely loved spending our time there. There was a welcome basket with food and wine awaiting us when we got there. The house is very well equipped and modern but also maintains its Provencal charm. There is ample dining space indoors and outdoors and there are grills in the backyard and by the pool. There is a small kitchen including a fridge, dishwasher and utensils by the pool side. All the bedrooms are spacious and most have attached bathrooms. The house is conveniently located a few minutes drive from the beautiful and quaint village of Bonnieux with restaurants, grocery store, and local meat shop and bakery. A meal at Capelongue is definitely recommended. Mike was very attentive to our requests and ensured that our stay there was enjoyable. It is a perfect vacation home and I would highly recommend it if you are in the area.

Bonnieux is one of the Luberon's medieval perched villages - possible the best.

The house is situated at the top of Bonnieux with unparalleled and panoramic views across the Luberon.

The area is full of ancient architecture, history and has a wealth of excellent restaurants to suit all budgets.

The Luberon has some of France's best local open air markets in the traditional villages. There is a choice of markets for each day of the week - all are worth a visit.

Spend the morning at one of the markets soaking up the atmosphere then retire home for the afternoon or pick any one of the local restaurants for lunch.

Bonnieux and the surrounding area is also a mecca for wine lovers - there are numerous vineyards many open for both tasting and purchasing.

There are also numerous art galleries, antique shops and local artisan shops both in and around Bonnieux.
