Clayton is a charming town in northeast Georgia - visit the shops and restaurants in the historical Main Street. Yet it also has the modern conveniences of major retailers such as Ingles (grocery), Wal-Mart and The Home Depot. It is 2 miles south of Black Rock Mountain state park; close to Lake Burton and Lake Rabun. It is also close to Tullulah Falls, Dillard, Sky Valley (NC), Dillsboro, Hiawassee, and Highlands and Asheville (NC).
I've posted Reviews on the local restaurants and amenities; please see a separate link to access these!
We love it there and love sharing it!

Clayton is big enough to stay awhile and stay entertained...but small enough to dial down and relax. Being 90 minutes from Atlanta was a criteria; easy weekend get-away.
We're secluded on the side of a mountain under a canopy of trees, yet 2 minutes from downtown or the grocery store.
Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your cabin for the weekend while we were here for the Warrior Dash. Your cabin is beautiful, relaxing and very clean. It was the perfect retreat for 3 couples. Our only suggestion would be to label the light switches :).
Thank you again!
Very neat, comfortable place. Very roomy with everything that is needed for a get away weekend provided. Great communication with the owner. Layout is great for multiple couples or large families to have privacy and yet be together to chat, play games, cards, eat any chosen meals, etc. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay.
We ate lunch at Fromage and Universal Joint . While having a fine dining experience at The Farm Table at Persimmon Creek.
This makes the second year for our group of three couples to stay at this "Cozy Cabin" in Clayton. We find that the cabin is great for all of us. Each couple had their own king suite and bath. For those in our 55 plus group with mobility issues, two of the suites are on the entry level. The cabin is well appointed with all amenities that you could wish for. We loved watching the sunrise over the mountains and the sunsets streaming into the cabin. We all hated to leave. We had breakfast on Monday morning at the Clayton Café, awesome, and lunch in Maggie Valley. The cabin is close to North Carolina allowing for a day trip where we saw elk and wild turkeys. On Valentine morning, we had breakfast at the Rusty Bike Café in Clayton, which is awesome as well. We are looking forward to a return visit when we can stay longer. "The Wilkes County Ramblers"
This is a wonderful home. It is very beautiful and well furnished. The location is great. It is super clean and very well taken care of.
The owners were great to work with. They were very professional and responsive. The instructions for traveling to and entering the cabin were detailed and clearly understandable.
We have rented many homes in the North Georgia and Tennessee mountains. This is by far our favorite. We plan to return again soon. If you are looking for great family vacation location this is it!
This cabin is beautiful, with large walkout porches on two levels. Nicely and comfortably furnished. Plenty of space to stretch out. Just a few minutes from nice restaurants in Clayton or Dillard. Very clean and comfortable.
First let me say that I have only used Home Away a.k.a VRBO once before, so I was not completely familiar with the way it worked. There were a few minor bumps, but the owner of the cabin Beth went to bat for us and made the entire process worry free for me. As lovely as the cabin is, and it IS lovely, I think what impressed me most was how personable Beth was and how she really wanted it to be a peaceful vacation without any of the process getting in the way. Now about the cabin...it was impressive the moment we stepped through the door. The decor was something I would have chosen myself, and the lay out was perfect for our family, giving all of us privacy, yet keeping everyone within the perfect proximity. We have two teenaged sons ages 13 and 16. The 13 year old liked being upstairs on the other side of the house from us, and the 16 year old really liked having the entire downstairs to himself. Two families would actually be very comfortable there. This cabin is so well equipped and stocked, from cooking utensils and dishes/glasses/pots & pans, to cooking oils. The washer & dryer was convenient, as I did laundry while there, to avoid packing smelly laundry and having to do it when I got home. The furnishings were comfortable, as well as all of the beds. Which was important, as we slept there for 8 nights. It was decorated enough to make it feel lived in, but not cluttered and was very easy to keep picked up and clean. The A/C worked perfectly and the water was good. The drive up the mountain to get to the cabin was not bad, unlike some other cabins which can be extremely challenging to city folks not used to it. We saw a deer in the backyard one morning and several gorgeous colorful moths of all sizes and colors each morning as we left for the day. And to top it all off, this cabin was situated perfectly within 15 minutes of everything we went there to do! Zip lining, horseback riding, antiques, lake fishing, hiking and delicious restaurants to the right and awesome boutique shops, gourmet restaurants/cafes, hiking waterfalls and swimming/boating on the lake and fishing in the river the the left! Some restaurant faves: The Rusty Bike for breakfast, Clayton Cafe for lunch, Fortify for dinner, The Cupboard anytime! And if you wish to worship while you're there, The First United Methodist Church of Clayton has a very friendly welcoming congregation with a very anointed pastor. Truly the best experience we could have hoped for!
The cabin was beautiful! Met all our expectations and more. The beds were comfortable, the living room spacious and the decks were really nice to just sit and chill on. We cooked every morning and evening and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils, plates etc. overall, a great stay. The only minor issue is water pressure in the shower is low when water is running anywhere else at the same time. But, wasn't really a problem. Beth is great with communicating and really helpful. Would we stay here again? Absolutely!!!!

Please note we have tiered pricing for the main floor (for 4 people) and then a nominal upcharge to include the downstairs second floor fully furnished living space with master bedroom (king), bathroom, living/dining, kitchen, bonus room and expansive walk-out deck. Caution: Automatic Quote from vrbo requires you to enter the right # of people to get an accurate Quote. If you have 4 people but desire to include the second floor please enter 5. If you have 5-6 people and enter those numbers the Quote will be accurate and include the second floor. Additionally, please be advised that we pass along the credit card fee if you choose to pay this way; it will be deducted from your deposit at the end. To avoid this fee it is better to NOT do the "book it now" process which takes you down a mandated credit card route. It is better to "email the owner" to request a Quote from me and allow me to control the VRBO payment process once you decide to proceed. That way you can opt for the free echeck using vrbo; or a manual check via the mail if you prefer. If you have any questions just call or email me and I am happy to help! Thank you.
