Situated alongside the Heritage Highway, the historic township of Oatlands is one of Tasmania’s finest heritage villages boasting the largest collection of colonial sandstone buildings in Australia. Many of the town’s sandstone buildings were convict built and have now been restored to house bakeries, antiques, art and craft shops, restaurants and cafes.
Oatlands Retreat offers self-contained family accommodation in the heart of the historic village of Oatlands, which is located midway between Hobart and Launceston. There is a quiet courtyard garden and the fully enclosed yard provides secure off street parking for 2 cars.
Oatlands Retreat family style accommodation features two double bedrooms (one with a double and single bed) and a large open dining and living area.
The modern unit can comfortably sleep up to 5 guests – children and pets are welcome.
The unit’s private rear garden is ideal for alfresco eating and can also accommodate pets.

Oatlands Retreat is located in the village’s main street and is close to all town facilities such as laundromat, shops, restaurants, cafes bakeries and public transport.
The famous recently restored Callington Mill and Lake Dulverton are within easy walking distance.
There is a public pool situated nearby.
These days the Midland Highway, the main route between Hobart and Launceston, by-passes Oatlands township, thus preserving the original quiet character of the town. Oatlands Retreat’s central location makes it an ideal base, from which much of Tasmania is accessible within an easy day trip. Hobart, Launceston and the East Coast are approximately an hours drive away and alpine country and the highland trout fishing lakes of Lake Sorell and Lake Crescent can be reached in around 30 minutes.
