About Siney Calvo

Born, raised, and educated in Costa Rica. I love my country and I know you will too. Traveled the world and there is no place like Costa Rica. Come stay and enjoy our people, customs, and cuisine.

I adore the sit around the large terraces and guard the amazing sunsets in the property– I practically live on it! You can contemplate at the mountains; watch the stars illuminating the dark sky. There is something about the Eco Luxury home that makes me relax. You can’t be there and not relax. I feel rooted and grounded there, closer to nature and at peace spiritually. I enjoy picking the fruits from the large variety of trees and when is the season, I admire the mangos and its beautiful colors decorating the property and attracting all kinds of wildlife.

There's a lot to do here to get back to nature!

Please email me if you have any questions or if you would like to know about our seasonal specials.

Siney Calvo purchased this house in 2013

Why Siney Calvo chose Puntarenas

I was tired of living in the city and dealing with traffic and people all the time. I just wanted to get away. I found this property in 2004 and I loved it. I built everything from the ground up and I know that you will enjoy your stay as much as I enjoy having you.

What makes this house unique

I have never been to any place like this property. We have the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. The property is right outside the city of Jaco and I fell in love because I always felt safe and I didn't have to worry about neighbors, noise, or anyone bothering my family and guests.

Amazing Again!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was my second stay at this property and sixth to Costa Rica. Had a lot of fun with friends the first time here and wanted to bring my parents, grandparents, and sister with her family. We rented 4 homes to fit everyone's needs. Homes are ample, comfortable, and over-all much nicer than other places in the Jaco area. Siney set up zip-lining, atv, volcano/coffee plantation, and Isla Tortuga (a must). We didn't feel like cooking and had a private chef for our stay which was surprisingly reasonable. Our second to last night we had a large dinner, watched the sunset, and John arranged a private firework show for

We can't thank John and Siney enough for making our stay so special. We will be back again next year.

Great place for family getaway

  • 5 of 5

Group of 20 family and friends rented this property, so my husband and I could renew our vows. The homes were large, private, and comfortable. The property and grounds were lovely with lots of colorful plants, bushes, and trees. We visited during the dry season, so most of the Central Pacific looked a little dry, but that was okay with us because we didn't want it to rain on our special day. The manager John, was very helpful and provided us with everything we needed. Siney set up a brunch as well as several tours for our group. We definitely recommend the Tortuga Island excursion and volcano, animal refuge, and waterfall. Hope to be back soon. Thank you John and Siney for everything.

Owner's Response: Hello, Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review. It was a pleasure dealing with you and your family. John said you were incredibly respectful of the property and homes. He also mentioned that you were very pleasent with him and Marina. I can not thank you enough for that. Even though we function as a vacation rental we offer many of the services of a hotel/resort. We all do our best to make sure our guests enjoy their vacation. Very rarely does anyone go out of their way to thank us in the way you did. We all wish you nothing but the best and hope to see you again soon.

A quiet & private retreat

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at this property for 8 days. It was a father/daughter spring break outing - which meant I needed a 2 bedroom situation. We wanted to be near enough to activities and yet have some peace and quiet. This place was perfect. It's a private, gated property. We had our own 2 bedroom, two bath house. There is a wonderful pool and clubhouse. It was the perfect retreat.

The town of Jaco is about 30 minutes drive. In Jaco, you have access to dozens of restaurants, shops, grocery stores, petrol stations, etc.. The beach in Jaco is wonderful and easy to access. Many of the local activities are based in and around Jaco. Even closer to the property, there are a couple of restaurants and shops within walking distances.

Most importantly, Siney & Garrett are great hosts! They insured that we had everything we needed. They gave us tons of information about where to go to get certain things, like how to get to the fish market down where the fisherman bring in their catches. Siney was super about making activities arrangements, including zip lining, ATV'ing, and sport fishing. It can be quite daunting to pick a service from all the options (and we'd heard that some were not good). But, Siney lined us up with solid reputable providers and everything we did was perfect.

In summary, it is a great place to stay and wonderful hosts. We hope to visit again!

Truly Enjoyed Our Stay

  • 5 of 5

From the time I reviewed this property on and contacted the manager to ask questions, I received excellent customer service. Siney responded within the hour and she was so patient with me answering every question. She reserved tours for us and a rental car. She gave us helpful tips and directions for the area. Siney made us feel very welcomed and she had fruit and drinks waiting for us upon our arrival. The villa was true tranquility. You are one with nature. You’re surrounded by beautiful plants, trees, insects, reptiles and fruit. It was the much needed peaceful vacation we were looking for. It was a great time to spend with family. The villa had a satellite TV, a full kitchen and bathrooms. It had all of the comforts of home. I would totally recommend Villa Del Rey, if you do not want to be in the middle of a tourist area. You could get to Jaco Beach within 20 minutes by car. There are a couple of restaurants within a few minutes’ walk from the villa. The villa is very private and we loved that. We were able to truly enjoy the pool and it was a short walk from our villa. It felt like home away from home for us. Siney, we want to thank you so much for your great hospitality and an excellent Costa Rican experience.

All we ever want to do is create an environment for guests to feel at home, relax, and enjoy all the on-sight amenities that you mentioned. We are always so pleased when our guests have had a good time and enjoyed their stay with us. I'm happy you enjoyed the Welcome Cocktails and fruits. Gotta LOVE the Pool area, right? The property is in an ideal location for visiting Manuel Antonio, Quepos, Jaco, Hermosa, Caldera, Puntarenas, etc..and close to so many local tourist attractions and hot spots! We're so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay and thank you so much for being excellent house guests and taking such good care of everything during your stay. We sure hope you get back and visit my beautiful Costa Rica again!

Peacefull, Great service and Clean

  • 5 of 5

We decided to stay at this rental because of the tranquility and privacy that the property provides and we got it. Plus as an extra we got Garrett's great service, I am impressed, I have been in so many vacation rentals were all that we get are the houses keys but not this time. The manager was there to help us booking tours, directions and even welcome us with cocktails. We really appreciate all the extra service that we did not expected. I highly recommend this property for nature lovers, for families who are looking to have a real adventure without compromising the luxury, the houses have flat screen tv with satellite, wifi, large refrigerator, stove oven, microwaves all stainless appliances, the comfortable mattresses, a nice pool area where we were able to relax and reconnect as family and all next to the wild animals that this tropical country offers. Thank you again for your help and most definitely prefer this property than a standard hotel!

Tranquil and Peaceful

  • 4 of 5

Our stay on the property was very welcoming! Upon our arrival Siney greeted us very warmly. Since we arrived in the early evening , to our surprise the path to the villa was a bit long and quite dark! The villa is amazing and has all of the comforts necessary. It is a typical tico home and nicely decorated and very comfortable. The fruit tress and natural beauty is quite beautiful. Although there are a few lights along the path, be prepared to do alot of walking between the villa and the club house. I would suggest to give guest a flashlight when walking at night for safety. Maybe offering a golf cart for guest who are responsible? It was suggested there was Wifi, however it was very slow and most of the time didn't work unless you are by the pool, (which was a bit of a nuisance) The pool area is very nice and towels are provided which we liked. If we were thirsty or hungry however we had to bring water or a snack since the club house is always closed. My suggestion would be to open the clubhouse (at least during the day) and offer drinks and or snacks for the ease and pleasure for guest since the walk is long back to the villa.Possibly a soda or snack machine? And lastly, enless you have a car or don't mind taking the bus, it is difficult to get around since there is not much surrounding the property unless you are there to relax totally. All in all, our vacation was enjoyable and we enjoyed the natural beauty surrounding us!I would recommend it to older couples in good shape and

adventure seekers and a romantic getaway. Thank you again Siney for your hospitality!

Owner's Response: Hello Mrs. Christine, Thank you for taking the time to write a review.  I wanted to address a few of the comments you made.  As mentioned in the description, the property is 20 acres and provides guests with a private vacation where they can choose the amount of contact they want with others.   If all of the homes were close together and next to the clubhouse we would not be able to provide our guests with such an intimate experience.   As an additional service our clubhouse, with concierge, is open in the morning if guests have questions, would like to book an excursion, or need anything.  Since we are a vacation rental property and not a resort we do not have the clubhouse open 24 hours a day.  Since hotels charge more they are able to have a large full time staff and restaurant.  We do offer room service and many other amenities, but we would have to charge hotel prices to accommodate many of your suggestions including a snack bar, poolside service, and golf carts.   The drivers we use for tours and transportation are more than happy to pick guests up and drop them off directly in front of their respective homes.  We had not used the driver you personally hired in the past and unfortunately it seems as though he did not want to enter on to the property.   The wifi in the homes is more than capable of Skype/Face time and live stream video.  I wish you would have mentioned to me, one of the many times I went to your home at your request, that your wifi was not working.  Sometimes the routers and your electronic devices need to have the wifi option switched off and then back on to reset the signal.   Thank you again for staying with us and I wish you and your family nothing but the best, Siney C.
