About Maureen Mittelstaedt

Brian and Maureen have been in the area for 35 years. Brian as a Chiropractor, Maureen as a Massage Therapist. We have come to love the Peninsula for its cycling, hiking, mountain biking and backpacking. Maureen grew up in Ohio, Brian in Tacoma.

Maureen Mittelstaedt purchased this apartment in 2008

Why Maureen Mittelstaedt chose Olympic Peninsula

We built the home in 2008 on ten acres of land. We love our two dogs and Port Angeles has offered us all we need. The location is close to town yet has the feel of the country. With its quiet serene atmosphere summer days and nights are the highlights for living here. We love the easy and quick access to the trails in Olympic National Park. Star gazing can be done from hurricane Ridge, 17 miles away.

What makes this apartment unique

A pond is situated within steps from the door, a hot tub and steam room for your aching muscles after a hike. A piano is available for your playing pleasure. Enjoy the hot tub at night and gaze at the stars.

Loved this place!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first VRBO experience and we were so impressed. Our apartment was immaculate, the decorating was done tastefully, the kitchen was surprisingly stocked with everything we needed for our 10 day stay and, the steam room was heavenly. We were in the area looking for a retirement home and this location was perfect to come home to in the evenings for a quiet, peaceful reflection on the day's hunt. Our patio looked over a tranquil setting where we even had a deer show up one morning. The Olympic Peninsula is truly a magical place and we felt that this apartment captured that. In our travels we ate out several times and, by far, our favorite place was "Nourish" in Sequim.

The Standard By Which All Future VRBO's Will Be Measured

This place is fabulous! My husband and I stayed for 5 wonderful nights. The quietude, the steam sauna, the hot tub, the bamboo & tile floors, the comfortable bed, the well-stocked kitchen, the books on the bookshelf, the satellite TV all added up to the best experience imaginable for me in a VRBO.

We felt so relaxed after hiking in the national park. The location is very convenient to the park visitor center, Hurricane Ridge, Lake Angeles, as well as the amenities of the town of Port Angeles. We could get or do anything we wanted very easily.

Our vacation was pretty lengthy, and we stayed at other places so that we could see different areas of the huge national park. We were completely spoiled after staying at Mo & Brian's place. Nothing else was good enough!

She is a joy to conduct business with, too, and that made it even nicer.

Owner's Response: I was happy that you were able to stay another night and hope that the rest of your trip was not a wash out! So happy to have met you two and hear about your adventures around the Peninsula. (I chuckle every time I think about your enthusiasm for "Granny's Café". ) Thank you for staying in our VRBO and hope to see you again. Mo and Brian

Peaceful haven amid stunning natural beauty

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I had the good fortune of staying here for four nights during our Labor Day weekend getaway from the East Coast heat wave. The apartment is pristine and well-outfitted, with plenty of sunlight streaming through the windows (plus blackout shades for when you want to indulge in extra sleep in the very comfy bed) and a nice view from the living room and bedroom onto the evergreen trees and small pond in the backyard. The proximity to downtown Port Angeles for grocery shopping and restaurants was ideal (less than 10 minutes by car), and it was the perfect home base for the beautiful drive to nearby Hurricane Ridge and within reasonable distance for day trips to other points on the peninsula (we visited Crescent Lake/Marymere Falls, Cape Flattery, Ruby Beach, and the Hoh Rain Forest). Maureen was very responsive with email communication, and while we didn't cross paths with her during our stay, I knew that if we had any questions, she would be ready and willing to assist. I fully recommend a stay in this idyllic setting for anyone looking to recharge in nature and not break the bank while doing so.

Extreme quiet and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

This clean and beautiful vacation rental exceeded our expectations. It was located in a peaceful, quiet setting only 5 minutes from the center of Port Angeles by car. Deer roamed through the property every evening as if on cue. The location is also right near the drive up to Hurricane Ridge. The apartment was lovely and had everything we needed in the kitchen for cooking at home. Our toughest decision each day was whether to use the steam room inside or the hot tub outside. Both were exceptionally clean and wonderful. We would definitely recommend this place to friends. We would also recommend Island Adventures for whale watching.

Rear Gem in Port Angeles

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoy the apartment and the nature around. it was my 2nd staying.. we stayed 7 nights. It was rather better than the first. The steam room was great and the hot tub was also beautiful. There are extra pots and containers in the storage room. And a lot of extra towels in the bathroom cabinet.Everything was equipped, organized and clean.

Mr. and Mrs. Mittelstaedt were extremely sensitive to guest needs; they had provided an extra air bed for our party and a drying rack.

It seemed that some biting insects were in the house ( we got some bites.).I think that guests should use a bug defense spray in the bathroom.

Only the last morning I found that, so I couldn't have a chance to use!

Incredible apartment near Olympic National Park

  • 5 of 5

Our first trip to the northwest was simply incredible! Maureen and Brian's apartment was an added blessing! The apartment was immaculate with everything we needed to set up our "home away from home." The apartment is close to the national park and gave us the perfect home base for a variety of day trips, plus a hot tub and steam shower to come home to after a full day of hiking. I highly recommend this Port Angeles apartment and will not only be staying here again, but will be recommending to family and friends. Thank you, Maureen and Brian!
