We spent the first week in September in Villa Alemar.
The house was very comfortable and clean and was a great base; providing easy access to the beach (a 4 minute walk down the hill), tavernas, bakery and supermarkets just along the road and was also well placed for exploring Corfu town to the south and the quieter beaches further north.
The house is set above the main road and is reached by steps. There is a car park at the bottom of these steps with ample parking.
Air conditioning worked well in the comfortable bedrooms, the kitchen was very well equipped and there was a limitless supply of hot water with good pressure in the bathroom. The house was cleaned thoroughly and bed linen and towels changed mid week. One minor issue was the WiFi signal, which was very poor and unreliable.
Lovely views from the balcony as other reviewers have stated. We did not spend much time in the outside area, but we were informed of plans to upgrade this and to install a pool next year.
We too, must mention Dinos, who is a charming man. We had stayed further north before arriving at Alemar and had our own car, so did not take up his offer of free transfers to and from the airport.
However, he took us to the house, arranged free sun beds at a nearby beach club in Barbati, recommended restaurants and allowed us an extremely generous late check out on our last day, which meant an extra day at the beach, dinner and showers before heading to the airport in the evening.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and extend our sincere thanks to Dinos for all his help and kindness.
We had a wonderful family holiday staying at Alemar House for two weeks. Much time was spent sitting on the balcony enjoying the view. The beach is very close and we also enjoyed the use of the nearby pool. The villa was cleaned thoroughly twice a week with fresh towels and bed linen. Dinos was very welcoming and helpful and also was able to help with car hire. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return ourselves. We particularly enjoyed the Dionysius restaurant and La Piazza restaurant including Greek dancing.
Everything about this holiday was 5*. We were met from the airport by the owner Dinos, a quick stop of on the way so we could go to the supermarket for supplies. A beautiful Villa, that was spotlessly clean.
Towels and bedding and more cleaning whilst we were there.
3 minute walk form the beautiful beach and the beach bars. 2-3 minute walk from The Tavernas, all of which were excellent.
This is the first place that we have been that we would re visit.
A beautiful, friendly country.
"What a way to arrive in Corfu" , a sign with your name and the happy face of Dinos at the airport to greet you . A quick stop at a nearby supermarket to buy essentials, beer and wine and on to Alemar house . It is as described perfectly on website and will not disappoint .Barbati is a quiet ,friendly village with two bakeries come coffee shops and six good restaurants where you will struggle to spend fifty euro on food and beer for two , fantastic value .Dinos done a great deal on car hire and we explored the island , especially the beautiful beaches on the west coast .Barbati beach is a short walk from the house with plenty of beach places for food and cold drinks .Thank you Dinos and Sandra for a fantastic place to enjoy a truly great week in Corfu ! We had a wonderful holiday at Alemar House this summer. The house itself is lovely and extremely well appointed - Sandra and Dino have provided everything you could possibly need or want - but it's the view from the balcony that made our stay here so especially memorable. You could spend your entire holiday gazing over the bay and watching the light change over the Ionian Sea and the Albanian mountains.
We went to the beach most days (a very short walk from Alemar House) to swim and relax but we did take a bus trip to Kassiopi, which has a pretty harbour and lots of good restaurants. In Barbati itself, our favourite restaurants were the Starlight - which uses local, homegrown produce - and La Piazza. All the restaurants and tavernas in the village have stunning views of the bay.
Dino was a wonderful host - we especially appreciated the transfers from our hotel in Corfu Town and to the airport at the end of our stay. It really makes a difference when you don't have to worry about taxis or hire cars! We were also really grateful for the supermarket stop in Ipsos on the way to Barbati - a very thoughful touch.
Altogether, it was a fabulous holiday and we came back to the UK feeling refreshed and relaxed. Hope to visit Alemar House again in the future.

Dear Dinos and Sandra
We have only just returned from a week in Barbati and just wanted to say a huge thank you for giving us the opportunity to stay at your wonderful home - “Alemar House”.
We cannot put into words the memories that we now hold of the view that we experienced waking up to each morning from the main bedroom – to look out onto the Ionian Sea and the Albanian mountains was a truly spectacular sight – breathtaking.
The house had everything that anyone would need – home from home; very clean and decorated to an extremely good standard.
For anyone looking at this review, we are particularly fussy and this was a dream property. Barbati was fairly quite in October, but we were lucky to have 5 days of nice warm weather and sunshine.
There were only a handful of restaurants open, but they all offered fantastic food and most with stunning sea views. Our favourite was Dionysos; the food was fantastic and we rated this restaurant 10/10. We also dined one evening in Caryatides and also in La Piazza a few times where they had live music on a Saturday night into the early hours.
What we loved about the area was that you could get around very easy on the bus for 2.60 euros into Corfu Town and that is really lovely – the old town in particular. You can also get the bus into Ipsos and Kassiopi. Kassiopi definitely a recommendation as it is a little harbour town with lots of lovely restaurants and a lovely laid back atmosphere. We cannot recommend this holiday enough. We have truly fallen in love with this place and “Alemar House”.
Thank you Dinos for picking us up at the airport and with such a lovely warm welcome – to include this service as part of the package made a really big difference - we will always remember you and hope to see you again in the not too distant future.
Regards to Sandra and your family.
