About Debi Millet
We are parents and Grandparents and love to spend time with our family. We live in the Pacific Northwest when we are not enjoying our time in Belize. We also love to travel, snorkel, read and go sailing.
Debi Millet purchased this House in 2010
Why Debi Millet chose Orchid Bay
We purchased our Casita in Orchid Bay Belize mainly for our own use as a vacation home. We fell in love with Orchid Bay when we first visited in April of 2008 and purchased our casita pre-construction. It was completed in December of 2010. We are not yet able to be there for more than a few months a year and so are making it available for others to enjoy when we are not using it.
What makes this House unique
The rest and relaxation we enjoy when we are here make it very hard to leave. We chose Belize because of the ease of getting there from the USA. The people are so friendly and almost all of them speak English. It is a beautiful warm area. Watching the sun set from our porch with the warm scrumptious tropical breezes floating by is beyond description. Make sure you try an Apple Banana in Belize they are the best!

My family and I stayed at Casita 9A in Orchid Bay and it was excellent! They had everything you could possibly need and the location of the Casita was perfect. It was on the end and just as the picture shows it. Inside the Casita was clean with plenty of extras. We were all very, very happy staying there and would love to go back (this time with the granddaughters in place of the grandsons, lol). Everyone at Orchid Bay was very nice and helpful as well.
So glad you had an amazing adventure in Belize. Thank you for taking such good care of our home. We hope to see you again soon!
Our entire group thoroughly enjoyed our time at this wonderful getaway. The Casita was perfect. The staff at Orchid Bay was more than accommodating.
Just relax or enjoy the bikes, kayaks, and paddle boards. We took advantage of some excursions to see Mayan ruins and snorkeling (snakelin in local jargon) on the great coral reef. Don't forget the yoga if you are so inclined. I'm sure I have left something out. Pack your sense of adventure and be prepared to do things Caribbean style and on Caribbean time. Did I mention the food?
Thank you for choosing our Casita to stay in on your adventures to Belize. So glad you had a great time and thanks for taking good care of our home. We hope to have you again!
We truly enjoyed our stay @ Casita 9A. This Casita was beautiful inside and out. It was well equipped with everything we needed. Very clean and nicely arranged. Excellent views of the bay. We rode the hand-cranked ferry every time we went to town. Very interesting for certain. The only thing missing from our visit was the lack of nicely paved roads. Other than that...we love, love, loved our stay.
Relaxing vacation getaway
Though the ride in is on some bumpy roads, it's well worth the trek. Nice beach, great for if you like kayaks and paddle boards. Cute cat and dog, excellent wifi David is great at recommending things to do in the country and gives a great boat tour of the neighboring towns along the bay.
So glad you enjoyed Orchid Bay! Along with all the comforts of home in our cozy Casita. The community has a lot to offer too! We appreciate David at the Tradewinds Restaurant and all he and his crew do to help make your vacation an awesome adventure!
Amazing comfort in the jungles of Belize
We love it in Belize at Orchid Bay and will return again.
We really enjoyed Orchid Bay!
This place was even better than the photos look! 9A is at the end of a row of casitas in the Orchid Bay community, it's right by the water and mangroves, with a dock and small beach a few steps from the front door. We enjoyed having the windows open at night and just listened to the water and sounds of the jungle. It was so peaceful. The Casita was very clean, with modern convenieces, and provided everything we needed during our stay. We cooked there a couple nights and ate at the Tradewinds Cafe a couple times, which is a short walk from 9A. The books and binders in the casita provide a wealth of information about the rental and the area. David at the Tradwinds was also very friendly and helpful and gave us lots of information and recommendations. At Orchid Bay you can hang at the beach or pool, enjoy a cocktail or ceviche, bike, paddle board or kayak. Or just walk around the grounds, they have done an amazing job with the landscaping, beautiful flowers and plants. You can get a great view from the water tower and might see some wildlife too. Close by you can venture to the nearby Cerros ruins and explore some of the smaller villages. Or take a day-trip on a ferry or Tropic Air to amazing snorkeling at the reef off of Ambergris Caye. FYI - Orchid Bay is not a touristy destination like Ambergris Caye. The town of Corozol is the nearest that has groceries, ATM and supplies and is about an hour away down a dirt road and via two hand-cranked ferries. If you want a more quiet, authentic Belize experience we would recommend you stay here and explore the area. We felt very safe, everyone we met on the trip was very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time and would return to explore more someday.
So glad to hear you had an amazing time at our home in Orchid Bay. We love getting away from the cold and relaxing in the beauty of Belize. Thank you for taking such great care of our home away from home. We hope you will come again.
Relaxing Beach, Restaurant, Swimming Pool are on site. Paddle Boards are available to rent from the restaurant (Tradewinds Bar & Grill). High speed wireless internet is included. Laundry service is available from the on site property manager. Arrangements can be made for excursions to Maya Ruins or Cave Tubing. Snorkeling and Scuba Diving are best out on one of the Islands located on the reef. Orchid Bay is pleasantly remote, yet not isolated. Corozal Town (population 10,000) is about 12 miles away, which usually takes 45 mins. because of the rough unpaved roads. While Chetumal, Mexico (the state capital of Quintana Roo Mexico, population about 260,000), is just across the Mexican border another 8 miles north of Corozal Town.
