Welcome to our "Tommy Bahama" themed beach cottage! It is a single level home with 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a dining room, and a large living room with french doors that open up to a sunny private courtyard area with teak furnishings. At the back of the home you'll find an additional outdoor dining area, complete with a large teak dining table and chairs. Here you can be more social on the "Strada," have drinks, dinner, and barbecue.
Speaking of dining, there is a gas BBQ and a fully equipped stainless steel kitchen; I love to cook.
There are stem less wine glasses for white and red wine, as well as Martini and Margarita glasses. The home is full of treasures that I have collected from all over the world, especially from Tahiti and Bora Bora. The photos don't do it justice!!! Everyone who comes to the cottage loves it. We also have a cabinet full of games like Monopoly, Clue, etc. and an additional cabinet full of books, including cook books.
A chateau fireplace is our living room's centerpiece, making it a cozy place to relax during our Californian winter. In the summer, ceiling fans in all bedrooms and the living room keep you nice and cool. Guests are welcome to use the indoor laundry (washer & dryer), and to park in the spacious 2 car garage. The garage boasts beach chairs, 2 beach cruisers, 2 mountain bikes, and bougie boards that guests are also welcome to use. The house also has plenty street parking for visitors--unlike the Newport Peninsula, Balboa Peninsula and Balboa Island. Kick off your shoes and walk to the end of the street at this idyllic location and you will find the beach park, beach playground, and dock. A 5 minute bike ride or 10 minute walk takes you to the premier Newport surfing beach at 32nd street, the beach boardwalk, and the Newport and Balboa ocean piers.
From our home you can walk to many fantastic restaurants, like the world famous Crab Cooker, Cannery, Sabatinos, Bear Flag, Blue Water Grill, The Dock, Flying Fish, as well as the Balboa Bay Club were John Wayne and his family would hang out. You can easily visit any one of the fine dining restaurants and bars (some of which are outdoors which I just love)... one is called 'Dukes' named after the 'Duke' himself! They are all in walking distance.
Your local friends can stop by and pick you up for a sunset bay cruise or you can rent an electric boat at the island’s bridge and pick up your guests and load your provisions from the dock at the end of our street. There are licensed captains that will take you for a sail, a tour, or day fishing trip--5 minute drive or 15 minute bike ride from our Lido Island at the Newport Pavilion. You can also easily visit Catalina Island from this location via the Catalina flyer (ferry). At the pavilion is also a nice little museum there that talks about the history of Newport Beach and Harbor. Additionally, there is whale watching... the California Grey whales visit twice here twice a year... and they are truly amazing. In winter they head south and in spring they head north, so many times you will see them when you are out whale watching or on the Catalina Flyer. Also on the Flyer you will see schools of spinning dolphins, like ballerinas in the water. As you leave the Harbor you'll also spot pelicans, seals, and sea lions... so cute when young pups! Overall, there is plenty of boat action here because the harbor and harbor mouth are very easy to navigate. Newport is idyllic for pleasure boat owners and sailors to cruise/race the waters.
Newport Beach boasts one of the best pleasure boat harbors in the world. If you're a Yachtsman like John Wayne and Humphrey Bogart, you can visit many of the private Yacht Clubs... Newport Harbor Yacht club, Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club, Balboa Yacht Club. Many of these have Reciprocal Membership with other Yacht Clubs, so bring your membership card with you and/or letter from your club saying you're a member of good standing.
There is a snack bar on the island open during summer that the kids love (cash only) and there is a Lido Isle Yacht club at which kids (and some adults) can learn to sail. The Sea Base (walking/biking distance) also provides lessons. During the summer, the club house has a BBQ every Friday and a Tostado night every other 2nd and 4th Tuesday that you are welcome to go to. The beach at the club house has a life guard on duty during summer and a swim slide dock that the kids just love.
If you come in the Fall or Winter months there is a Chateau Fire place with gas logs that adds a lot of
ambiance to the living room, dining room and kitchen
area. There is also the Boat Parade during December.
Property cannot be rented more than once in any 31 day period.
We hope that you love the cottage as much as my family and I do.

I consider myself a citizen of the world. I have worked for American Airlines for 34 years and I have traveled extensively, mostly Internationaly. I love to travel and I love to share my special cottage with others. I hope that our guests enjoy and love the cottage as much as my family, friends and I have over the years! Lido Isle is a special place and I would like to share with as many people that would like to visit. Bon Voyage, Cheers and All the Best! Linda
Linda purchased this villa in 1996
I purchased the property because of its location. The beach park and dock are at the end of our street. We are close to the Newport Pier, Balboa Pier, and plenty of off-street parking. I love the location and you will too. I grew up spending my summers on Balboa Island, but the traffic, lack of parking spaces, and abundance of parking tickets turned me to Lido. This property is wonderful! Lido is a paradise away from the craziness of the peninsula but still right next to the beach.
This is a special island .. if you come here in summer the Lido Island Yacht Club is full of life and the snack bar is open and ready to serve you the best french fries you've ever tasted!
The city of Newport Beach, has so much to offer, from dining, shopping, surfing, fishing, biking, standup paddle, sailing, boating, sunset cruising, shopping, wine tasting. Golfers love this place, jazz people, tennis, musicians, artiest,
The house was clean and tastefully decorated home for Christmas. It had stocked pantry of spices, excellent directions for the electronic devices and internet. We were able to walk to the grocery store, shopping and the beach and was close proximity to Fashion Island and hiking trails.
It was a fabulous family reunion for us. We had to also book a room at the Bayshore Peninsula Hotel because the entire family was up for a reunion in Newport and that was 8 people! The house is a gracious place to relax. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed and fun in which to cook. Our grandsons loved going to Genoa beach to play. The water in April was a bit cool. However, our weather was perfect. The children all went to Disneyland. (We didn't have to go!) We were close to the best restaurants in town. And best of all, my friend lives right down the street!
Lido is a GREAT place to stroll. The bikes were a nice addition to tootle around the island. Evenings on the patio were the best. It is quiet, comfortable, clean and just about perfect. Thank you so much, Linda, for sharing this property. You were so easy and accommodating. I would love to come every year!
We spent a lovely week at the cottage in mid March. Linda was wonderful to work with and the cottage was ideal for us… warm, inviting, stylish and comfortable. We loved the location -- close to the beach, shopping, restaurants, etc., but private and quiet at the same time. My teen age daughters loved it as did my husband and mother in-law. We hope to return next year.
The property was exactly as advertised and we had an awesome visit with our adult daughter. The owner has done an exquisite job of decorating the house with art and artifacts from her travels. Beds were comfortable. The garage was adequately sized. The kitchen well equipped. We spent most of our time in the courtyard where the flowers were blooming and the aroma of Jasmine wafted in the air. The owner is very welcoming and is great to work with. I would highly recommend this property.
What a Great Rental Property. We rented this home only 3 weeks before arriving and Linda had everything taken care of within 48 hours of our inquiry. Located on the beautiful Lido Isle your instantly blown away by the beautiful scenery in every direction as you drive up. Property is exactly as described. Garage is nice and big, we fit our full size SUV no problem. Very specious rooms, all the bedrooms are nicely decorated and all of the beds are above average in comfort. The House is decorated beautifully, sure to impress anyone from anywhere. We would definitely rent this home again.
Lovely, bright and exceptionally clean cottage with lots of character. We instantly felt at home in this happy home on elegant Lido Isle. We appreciated the quiet oasis in the busy Newport area and our ability to walk or bike everywhere. We cooked up some fabulous meals in the well equipped kitchen with BBQ and outdoor dining areas. At different times, we felt like we were in France or Italy or Australia with the world travel flavor that the owner has created. We felt very much at home and will definitely return!
This Cottage is actually located on Lido Isle, an island located in Newport Beach Harbor. It's a private island and has security service personnel on site. The cottage is perfect for snow birds or families that want to visit Disneyland and the Beach. Actually, this is the closest beach community to Disneyland (20 minutes away).
The cottage is idyllic for Snow Birds who want to escape the winters at home, play some golf, tennis, walk the beach, bike ride, shop (at nearby Fashion Island - world famous) and play. You can walk or ride to the super market, shops and restaurants (2 mountain bikes on property and 2 beach cruisers). Renting a vehicle is not necessary, everything is so close (dry cleaners, nail spa, hair salon, super market, movie theater, restaurants, wine shop and C'est Si Bon the most French bakery in U.S.). If you like boating there are places to rent boats for a harbor cruise, kayak rentals and stand up paddle board rentals. If you want to learn to sail a boat there is a sea base nearby that you can take lessons from. And, did I mention fishing, fishing boats leave from Newport/Balboa peninsula every day. Also, if you want to visit Catalina Island the Catalina Flyer leaves from the same location as the fishing boats, just minutes from the cottage. Also extremely close is Newport Coast, Laguna Beach, and Corona del Mar. Some of the best golf courses are right here minutes away, the world famous Pelican Hill Newport Beach Golf course; home of the Masters tournament; Irvine's Strawberry Hill golf course is very popular with guests also. Palm Desert, Indian Wells, & Rancho Mirage are about a 2 hour drive away, 120 miles. The cottage has a large Chateau fire place (gas), so very cozy and romantic. A perfect get away' for couples to renew their love for one another, come enjoy the magic of the cottage!
We hope you enjoy the cottage as much as my family and friends have.
Everyone who comes to the cottage loves it!
It is a sweet home. The pictures don't do it justice.

The rates are subject to change. The cottage has seasonal rates being near the beach, Summer here is very busy. If you want to occupy the cottage, my honest suggestion is to book early. The cottage is very quaint and charming, out of a magazine magical, built in 1952 so has to be treated a little gentle. Everyone that comes here loves and wants to stay forever, even the people with grand mansions.
