If you're dreaming of a relaxing, waterfront vacation home in the San Juan Islands, this rental house on Lopez Island might be perfect for you! It features a private sauna, deck overlooking Mackaye Harbor, a large yard with a fire pit, and the sandy shores of the harbor, which are just 50 feet away from the doorstep!
Lopez Island is the third-largest of the San Juan Islands, and it is a particularly quiet and rural area. This home is on the southwestern end of the island, so you can fully enjoy the amazing view of the harbor. Most of the restaurants, shops, galleries, and cafes on this island are about 10 miles north, so you can enjoy the peaceful 15-minute drive into town while marveling at the spectacular scenery.
You'll feel right at home in the charming, comfortably decorated house. The beautiful kitchen has everything you may need to whip up a hot breakfast or leisurely dinner, though you might prefer to eat outside on the huge deck or even picnic-style on the beach! The living room is a great space to play some board games, bring a DVD to watch, use the WiFi, or just sit in front of the wood stove and chat. With two bedrooms (each with a queen-size bed, plus a futon in the living room) and two and a half bathrooms, this house accommodates up to six guests.
But make sure you check out the private sauna! After working up a sweat, feel free to sit outside on the deck in the gentle breeze to watch sailboats go by. When nighttime is near, make sure you leave time to watch the incredible sunset over the harbor. During the day, you may decide to wade through the water, start a fire in the fire pit, or leave the house and adventure through the area either on foot, by bicycle, or in a car. You could even go for a walk on a scenic trail and look for wildlife--orcas are known to pass by the islands during the summer!
This comfortable and warm home is an ideal place to stay while enjoying the San Juan Islands. You will be well-rested and ready to explore charming-and-rural Lopez Island or take a ferry to other nearby islands.
If a quiet, relaxing and homey waterfront house is your idea of a perfect vacation property, the Beach House on Lopez Island is waiting for you!
Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.
Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.
Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!
We had a wonderful stay on Lopez Island. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners, who graciously allowed us to check in early, as we caught the 12:35 ferry from Anacortes. They were very nice and helpful. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed for a relaxing time away from the city. Everything was clean, the beds comfy, and the kitchen and porch were spectacular! It seemed that most of the island's beaches had "Private" or "No trespassing" signs on them, so it was awesome to have access to this property's private beach! The view was amazing. We really took advantage of the property's fire pit, and had a fun time collecting driftwood from the beach to burn.
We had a fantastic couple of days with our 9 year old twins.Ingrid and Peter were very welcoming and gracious. Our kids were super excited have Jazz the 16 year old gentle and loving dog hang around to play with. The view of the water is beautiful from the house .The tulips in the garden made the place look like something out of a picture postcard.
The house was very neat and clean . There place was well equipped with pots ,pans and aplliances. All the basic amenities were covered. We were very comfortable. It felt like home away from home .
For groceries there is a store about a mile away ,very convinient.
We used the sauna at the end of a fun day exporing the island. It felt so good!
The island has gentle slopes for most parts so biking is quite a lot of fun. Lots of farms and in general very laid back and a friendly place.
We will certainly return.
Thanks again Ingrid and Peter for sharing your adorable home with us!
The view of the house is amazing. We enjoyed sitting in the living room and stare at the sea. The sunset is right in front of you and at night, we can see many stars because the surrounding is dark. We also enjoyed the fire pit outside, there are woods stocked in the house for use.
The grocery stores close at 7pm, and there aren't many restaurant, so you might want to bring some food with you. The house has lots spices, though some of them are very expired.
Overall we had a great and relaxing stay, I would go back.
great location, view and house. Will rebook for next visit.
Beach House is located on a lovely stretch of beach within easy reach of any activity you might enjoy on Lopez. We cycled around the island from here and into the village for a nice lunch at Vita's one day. The house itself is clean with a fully stocked kitchen, even tools for the gourmet cook like a microplane grater. Local TV stations are available on the flat screen in the living area and the house has decent wi-fi for AppleTV or Amazon Fire should you bring your own.
Plenty of hot water for showers and ample space in the bathrooms.
If your visit is in winter the heating works quite well, keeping things toasty.
In summer the giant front deck would be amazing with its waterfront view and ample seating.
This house does have more owner items sprinkled around than is typical, clothes in the dressers and family pictures up on the walls. It's not to the point where it's creepy but be advised that the space feels like a family vacation home. Not a big deal. I would absolutely stay here again.
