2 Bed 1 Bath Home In Heart Of San Diego And Short Walk To Thriving Park Blvd.

The home is a charming early Twentieth century Craftsman (circa 1915) that has a usable front porch with seating and and spacious back yard area complete with a gas grill, shaded patio seating and herb garden (Mint, Chives, Basil,Thyme, Savory). Part of the joy of not staying in a hotel is doing your own cooking (for some people at least). An amazing Sunday farmers' market 4 blocks away in Hillcrest, grocery shopping (Trader Joe's, Ralph's, Sprouts market) are all within walking or biking distance. But when you are not interested in cooking, there are several great restaurants just 2 blocks away!

Each of the two bedrooms has its own queen bed. There is a pull out couch/ futon in the living room as well as an available portable single bed if necessary.

A gas assisted fireplace in the living room provides a little extra warmth and coziness for when the temperatures drop in San Diego (Yes, the temps do drop here on occasion) . An AC unit and a whole house fan allows guests to keep cool when the weather heats up.

We also have the home outfitted with a flat screen LCD TV with cable TV programming as well as Netflix, MLB (provides all MLB games for baseball fans) and many other Roku channels in addition to an included WiFi network for internet access for our guests.

When you are ready to fire up the gas grill, it will be ready and waiting.

For any tiny vacationers, we have a pac-n-play, infant tub, highchair and toys.

We are proud to feature original art throughout the house from a local artist.

About David

Our family purchased the home as an investment in 2009. We recently decided to remodel the home and turn it into a vacation rental. The location is perfect for out-of-towners in love with (or ready to fall in love with) San Diego. We certainly have enjoyed living in SD both when we were young and single, then as a dating couple, and now raising our kids here.

Why David chose University Heights

University Heights is full of unique restaurants and cafes and is close to Hillcrest, the downtown/Gaslamp district, Little Italy and Balboa Park.

Our guests can take advantage of a great walking neighborhood where going out for a meal or coffee does not require getting into a car.

For families with kids, Trolley Barn Park is an easy walk from the home. World renowned San Diego Zoo is less than 5 minutes by car.

Our guests can also take advantage of the free summer concert's in the Trolley Barn park, Padres baseball at Petco park and beaches within a 15 minute drive from the home. The US/ Mexico border is approximately a 30 minute drive from the home for those wanting to explore our neighbor to the South.

University Heights is a neighborhood located in Central San Diego. It is adjacent to the neighborhoods of Hillcrest and North Park. There are a number of restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and other eclectic businesses within walking distance of our home. University Heights is centrally located and allows visitors to explore the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park to the immediate South. The larger commercial district of Mission Valley sits in the valley below University Heights and the beaches (Ocean and Mission) are a short 15 minute jaunt to the west. Downtown San Diego and all it has to offer, is a short ten minute drive to the Southwest.

Very comfortable, well stocked and clean.

This house is a lovely property. We have stayed many times in University Heights in different rentals and this is one of the best! It is clean and tidy and has everything that you could need. The location is wonderful - a very quick walk to morning coffee and several good restaurants. There is a pretty little back patio to enjoy and a definite plus is the parking right in the front driveway. The kids toys in a closet were life savers when our grandchildren came to visit and the umbrella and beach chairs were perfect for our outing to Coronado.

We will definitely be back.

Good location, has what we need.

This house was no more than 15 min. away from everywhere we wanted to go. It was nice and quiet. The patio area could use a little tlc. The coffee shop and eatery were great to walk to and groceries were just down the road.

Clean, comfortable, and conveniently located

There was so much to like about our stay in this home. The beds were comfortable, the neighborhood quiet, and it is a block away from a beautiful bluff overlooking San Diego. Our host, David, gave us concise and informative instructions for everything in the house and the locations of wonderful restaurants/bars/stores located 2 blocks away. The home is well equipped, including a BBQ gas grill that we used one night to grill out steaks.

We had a car for part of the time during our stay when our son drove down from LA and stayed with us. So having a parking place in the driveway was a plus. We explored many of the neighborhoods and downtown areas of San Diego, but I have to admit, University Heights was my favorite area.

The bus stop is 2 block away, across from the local coffee shop. Bus route 11 can take you to a few of the neighborhoods, grocery stores, and downtown. The bus to the zoo/Balboa Park is a short walk away, also. We were able to take bus 11 downtown, and pick up the airport bus with only a block walk. So the town is very do-able by bus and by using google maps for bus information.

Our favorite part of the day was relaxing on the porch, watching the hummingbirds, and trying to decide which of the 120+ breweries, Mexican restaurants, and neighborhoods to visit next.

We would definitely stay here again!

A perfect little place for our needs!

My husband and I stayed here last weekend and it was just perfect for our needs. Our son and his new wife live within a short walking distance and it couldn't have worked out better! The house was comfortable and nicely decorated with all you would expect from an quaint Bungalow home. The air conditioning was nice, but I like having the windows open at night. Like another reviewer said, there are screens on only two windows. The grill was fantastic to have and it was so peaceful having a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine on the front porch.

David was great about sending all the important details about the house prior to our arrival and the list of restaurants and places to see was so helpful and I referred to it often.

Thank you and we will definitely be back!
