The home is a charming early Twentieth century Craftsman (circa 1915) that has a usable front porch with seating and and spacious back yard area complete with a gas grill, shaded patio seating and herb garden (Mint, Chives, Basil,Thyme, Savory). Part of the joy of not staying in a hotel is doing your own cooking (for some people at least). An amazing Sunday farmers' market 4 blocks away in Hillcrest, grocery shopping (Trader Joe's, Ralph's, Sprouts market) are all within walking or biking distance. But when you are not interested in cooking, there are several great restaurants just 2 blocks away!
Each of the two bedrooms has its own queen bed. There is a pull out couch/ futon in the living room as well as an available portable single bed if necessary.
A gas assisted fireplace in the living room provides a little extra warmth and coziness for when the temperatures drop in San Diego (Yes, the temps do drop here on occasion) . An AC unit and a whole house fan allows guests to keep cool when the weather heats up.
We also have the home outfitted with a flat screen LCD TV with cable TV programming as well as Netflix, MLB (provides all MLB games for baseball fans) and many other Roku channels in addition to an included WiFi network for internet access for our guests.
When you are ready to fire up the gas grill, it will be ready and waiting.
For any tiny vacationers, we have a pac-n-play, infant tub, highchair and toys.
We are proud to feature original art throughout the house from a local artist.
You can be assured that we will strive to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Thanks for looking.

Our family purchased the home as an investment in 2009. We recently decided to remodel the home and turn it into a vacation rental. The location is perfect for out-of-towners in love with (or ready to fall in love with) San Diego. We certainly have enjoyed living in SD both when we were young and single, then as a dating couple, and now raising our kids here.
David purchased this house in 2009

We had a great time in San Diego, and very much enjoyed our stay in the house. The house was very nice and had all we needed. It was very charming and well equipt. The front and back terrace was just perfect.
The owner, David provided lots of very useful and relevant information about the house and the area.
The area was very nice... Coffeeshops and restaurants within walking distance... And the food was good and reasonable priced.
Would for sure recommend this property!
Exceeded exspectations.Great property, location and friendly area.
This house is an absolutely perfect place to stay for a walkable, easy, and comfortable San Diego vaycay. We loved the house itself -- so clean, spacious and well set-up! We grilled in the backyard then walked to fun spots just 2 blocks away. The neighborhood is great, and well-situated. Easy to get everywhere! We love this house!
Ten minute drive everywhere. Quiet, safe neighborhood. David was organized and made our stay easy. House was clean and had character.
We enjoyed our stay at David's cottage/bungalow very much. The house was just as 'advertised', and he was attentive and available should we have had any questions or problems (which we didn't). The house is quite close to all of the great cafes and restaurants in the University Heights neighborhood. And the songbirds frequenting the large tree adjacent to the back patio regaled us with quite a concert every day!
This is our 2nd trip to "David's House" and the only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer! :) We felt immediately at home when we walked in and were so happy to be in SD for the weekend! We will definitely be back in the future - Thank you!
University Heights is a neighborhood located in Central San Diego. It is adjacent to the neighborhoods of Hillcrest and North Park. There are a number of restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and other eclectic businesses within walking distance of our home. University Heights is centrally located and allows visitors to explore the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park to the immediate South. The larger commercial district of Mission Valley sits in the valley below University Heights and the beaches (Ocean and Mission) are a short 15 minute jaunt to the west. Downtown San Diego and all it has to offer, is a short ten minute drive to the Southwest.
