About Giovanna

I have two dogs who share my days , and the female is called Peppa is a Pyrenean Shepherd 6 years old , the male is called Pippo and is a small mestizo 3 years.

In my life I have experienced so many things and met so many people , I have worked in both private and public companies and the last period of this phase I lived as a freelancer in many regions of Italy, while on vacation days ran to work and learn from technical experts and farmers the techniques of cultivation of the vineyards that surround the farm and I planted many trees , I finally decided to devote myself exclusively to the agricultural activities of Cascina Bricchetto Langhe and to proceed in the renovation of the ancient stone structure and obtain guest houses.

Giovanna purchased this chateau / country house in 1995

Why Giovanna chose Cuneo

I bought “Cascina Bricchetto Langhe” the year 1995, and some years ago I left my consultancy business and settled here to manage the farm operations. When I open the shutters in the morning, I often think: “how beautiful Monviso is in the sunshine, or how wonderful the clouds are in the sky , or how magical is the misty landscape, or, even how fairy-like the snowfall is!” Then when I close them in the evening, I see the lights of the small villages in the hills opposite (Diano d’Alba, La Morra) and of the houses scattered among the hills and I thank heartily my lucky stars what led me here, where you are surrounded by such beauty. It was during one of those moments that I thought I would like to share this marvel with other people as well and so I started renovating to create two completely autonomous accommodations to be used for farm holidays.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Our homes offer the opportunity to personally experience the 'charm of the old Piedmont' inserted in a modern comfortable environment.

Living in an old stone farmhouse means of keeping cool in the summer and warmth in winter, the beauty and warmth of a wood fire that heats the radiators perhaps supplemented by a few hours of gas heating.

Experience the silence broken only by birds and some agricultural vehicle, rediscover the joy of the voices of children playing.

Enjoy the beauty of the ancient (vaulted brick ceilings, antique furniture in precious woods) joined to the efficiency of household appliances, enjoy the pleasure of a hot bath or shower at the right point and fragrant, live in the landscape that comes from the numerous and large windows to enjoy colorful sunsets on the balconies or terraces covered by drinking a glass of our beautiful wines.

Perfect holiday let

  • 5 of 5

This holiday house is in a perfect location for exploring the beautiful villages and towns of the Langhe. We enjoyed spending our days driving to explore the lovely area, eat nice food and buy local produce to cook each evening. The house is perfect - spotlessly clean and very well-equipped. Each of the bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom, with a very good shower. The kitchen has everything needed. There is no air conditioning but even in a heat wave we were comfortable given the slightly cooler temperatures on the top of our hill. There is plenty of space for sitting outside to enjoy the wonderful view and watch the stars.

Giovanna is a really kind host. She lives in a part of the farmhouse which is close enough for her to be on hand when needed but at enough of a distance that her presence is not intrusive. She is extremely knowledgable about the area and is happy to book wine tastings and restaurants if you wish. We preferred to accept her list of recommended restaurants and use it to find lovely places to eat at lunchtimes during our days out. She booked us wine tastings at 2 local wineries which were fascinating and really helped us understand the wines of the region.

We would thoroughly recommend this house.

A perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four spent a wonderful week in this well designed and immaculate house with its incredible view. We found the house itself to be the most comfortable we have experienced in our numerous trips to Italy, with a kitchen that has everything one could want. We cooked local Piedmontese steaks, risotto, or pasta every night at home so that we could watch the glorious sunsets. Because so many lovely towns are nearby, including Alba, Neive, Barbaresco, Bra, and Borolo, we walked and explored them each day and ate our lunches there. Giovanna was gracious and helpful and we were especially grateful for the wine tasting tours she arranged with small wineries in the area. My best memory will be of the evening when I was stirring an incredible mushroom black truffle risotto on the stove, glanced our the window at a gorgeous sunset, and saw that the Alps were out for the first time during our stay. With great food, lovely walking, hospitality, and such a pleasant house, this was a perfect Piedmont vacation.

The Best of the Piedmont

  • 5 of 5

I was looking for a special place to stay in the Langhe. I was escorting family and I wanted someplace to "WOW" them. Someplace with views, a romantic setting, clean, well appointed and an authentic Italian experience. Cascina Bricchetto fits the bill to a T! When we arrived at the top of the ridge where the cascina is located, we were almost giddy. The views reach to the martime and norther alps, there were still snow capped peaks to the north, It was simply stunning.

The owner, Signora Giovanna works hard to make sure her property is well stocked, immaculately clean, and in perfect working order. She is warm and genuinely interested in helping you enjoy her region.

For wine lovers, there were three types of wine glasses; for whites, nebbiolo based wines and big tannic wines. No detail was overlooked.

Ours was a very pleasant visit immersed in the Italian culture, wines and food. I'll visit again.

Unforgettable Piemonte holiday experience

  • 5 of 5

Situated on a Piemonte hilltop with great views on the Alps, and surrounded by moscato vineyards, this place is truly a gem. The house is absolutely great. Its spacious, tastefully decorated, clean and caters for absolutely everything one needs when traveling with a family. The pictures on the web are simply not doing justice to the sheer beauty of the house and its surroundings. Our kids had a great time as well. They had great fun on the swing, playing football and a game of bowls in the garden, and of course with the lovely dogs; Pipo and Peppa. The greatest asset of all is Giovanna herself. What a great hostess. She is entertaining, loves kids, provides tons of good suggestions (from tasting wine to eating out in child-friendly restaurants in the area). Besides, she taught us how to make a proper frittata di Liguria. Her 'orto' is full of delicious fruits, vegetables and herbs. We never tasted any better figs than those from her garden. All in all, we had a great holiday, and would definitely recommend Ca der Forn to other people. Love to return. Ci vediamo Edwin and Inez

Beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

My two adult children, my husband and I stayed at Cascina Bricchetto. What a wonderful stay! The accommodations, hospitality, and arrangements made for us at wineries and restaurants were of the highest quality. The area was named to the World Heritage Sites and it is well deserved. Even the little things such as a hazelnut coffee cake waiting for us on the dining table or suggestions for a butcher, or sharing a new herb from her garden made us feel like family. All of these things plus appointments to visit wineries where we felt like friends (and sampled of the outstanding Piamontese wines from the nebeola grapes) made this trip exceptional! The quiet serenity of the surrounding vineyards with a distant church bell, the graciousness of our hostess, the beauty of the people, and the fantastic wines will stay with us forever. We would recommend this accommodation to our friends and family without hesitation!

Far above expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Ca der Forn house in June 2014, along with our son and his wife. Four wonderful days! The house has everything you could possibly need: immaculately clean; modern bathrooms and bedrooms; kitchen perfectly stocked with dishes, flatware, glasses, spices and staples for those who want to cook. The house sits on a ridge with sweeping views both North and south over slopeps covered with vineyards with villages and mountains in the distance.

Giovanna is a wonderful host! Prior to our visit she asked us what we wanted to do in the region, then suggested places and offered to make reservations. I was a bit skeptical at first since we like to discover places on our own, but accepted her offer. Her suggestions were perfect! We sampled local restaurants of all levels, from simple local trattorias to an elegant formal restaurant. She arranged visits to small wineries, some less than 500 cases per year, where we tasted the wines with the winemakers. Based on our descriptions of what we wanted to see, she helped us know which villages to visit, and even what days they had their local markets. There would have been no way that we could have been so immersed in this wonderful region without her help.

We ordered breakfast for the first day of our visit and the food lasted us for three mornings! It included homemade bread, pastries and preserves as well as local cheeses, coffee, tea, etc.

Giovanna knows the perfect balance between being available when needed, and staying away to let her guests explore and enjoy.

I don't have enough superlatives to do this visit justice. This was clearly the highlight of our vacation which included Germany, Cinque Terre, Piemonte and the Rhone valley. If you visit the Langhe region and want to stay in the country rather than in a town, you cannot do better than to stay with Giovanna.

Owner's Response: Many thanks dear guests, thank you for writing what you experienced, it's a nice reward for my efforts and for our area! Sometimes I realize that my offers organizational support to the future living are viewed with suspicion but my commitment has one goal: to help guests to experience a special holiday, meaning "to experience the beauty of the Langhe" in several respects: landscapes, typical architectural and cultural production of wines and meeting with those who produce them, culinary traditions and delicious food ... It will be a pleasure to see you and help you (if you wish) to discover many other things, I'll be waiting.

Obviously need to make an appointment.
