About Cara or Bud

I live on a ranch just outside of Bronte, Texas (between San Angelo and Abilene). My Mom lives in my childhood home on the ranch - just down the road and my Aunt Melba (whom I have to thank for this cabin) lives in San Angelo. I am a geologist by trade and also dabble as an entrepreneur.

Cara or Bud purchased this cabin in 1970

Why Cara or Bud chose New Mexico

Built in the 1940's, my aunt purchased this property in 1970 and I have been coming here since I was a young boy. I am now the proud owner of the cabin and it has been a labor of love to make it a true retreat with all the modern conveniences and comforts of home. Ruidoso has always been a special place to me - I love the mountains, the landscape and the general vibe of the area.

What makes this cabin unique

My family collects antiques, revolutionary and western art and we're happy to share some of these pieces with you in the Creekside Cabin. The cabin is tucked away amongst pine trees along Cedar Creek, so it's nice and quiet but only minutes away from all the shops and restaurants of downtown Ruidoso.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I had a very relaxing and comfortable stay in your cabin. I love to cook, so it was nice to have everything I needed (I even baked a cake!). Your antique and art collection made it feel like I was staying in an upscale lodge. I enjoyed coffee every morning on the back deck while listening to the creek. I even saw some deer and ducks. Beautiful! I'm coming back, but next time, I'm bringing some friends.

Our stay at the cabin was great! The cabin was very clean and well stocked when we arrived. We had a very relaxing time - the cabin is very cozy and comfortable. During the afternoon rain we enjoyed sitting on the back deck and watching the creek running below. What I like best is the location, we were close to golf courses, Pickleball courts, shopping, walking trails, and restaurants. Ruidoso Downs and the casinos were just down the road also. I highly recommend and plan to return next year.

PERFECT BITHDAY WEEKEND :)

  • 5 of 5

It was a pleasure staying at the Creekside Cabin, which is less than 5 minutes from Downtown Ruidoso. When they say everything is provided, they mean EVERYTHING is provided. (And by that I mean Coffee, sweet nectar of the Gods) You HAVE to take your morning coffee outside on the back porch and watch the deer in the creek and the Hummingbirds at the feeder, while you sit in the swing. Absolutely Beautiful View and the Cabin was spotless. The Office Manager was an absolute Doll. :) Overall the experience was brilliant and enjoyed our weekend getaway immensely. I will definitely stay there again.

All you could ever need

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful time at Creekside Cabin. It was everything I hoped it would be. Plenty of room & clean. My favorite thing about it was the back deck. We spent a lot of time out there. I love the creek behind the cabin. I have 2 small children & it was the perfect environment for us. The cabin was also fully stocked with everything you could need. I hope to return for a visit in the near future.

Owner's Response: As the owner I am continuing to make improvements to my cabin. As well as for myself, I want all of my friends and guests to feel comfortable in a unique and interesting cabin environment. After a day's activities in the area, I hope you will look forward to the return back to the cabin for the evening. Or maybe just spend a day of solitude with a good book and the beautiful mountain air, sounds and scenery. I sincerely hope you enjoy your stay. Following are two recent entries into our written guest book: "Girls Weekend!! Had a great weekend with great girls. The calm was fabulous and we loved it! With the Thomas Rett concert, horseback riding and BFF's it was the best." - June 2015 "Family Vacation! I must say we got what we wanted. The night we got here it rained and thundered, so beautiful sitting out on the deck. The cabin is awesome. It was bigger than what I thought. The family said I did great picking out this cabin. I did see a few hummingbirds and a mother duck and her family and right when you walk to the deck you can hear the creek, that was the best part! We will be back very soon." July 2015
