Caroline Clark, The Yellow House
About Caroline Clark, The Yellow House
We purchased this home from a dear friend in late 2017. We are excited to rent it out so other families can enjoy the Yellow House as much as we do. We added two bedrooms on the first floor (spring 2018) as well as a new stove and refrigerator (spring 2019) and also added optional pull-down shades on the back porch (summer 2019). We are always eager for feedback if renters have ideas on how to improve the functionality of the space!

What makes this House unique
The Yellow house combines the ease of living near the center of a quaint main street with the privacy of a secluded yard on the beautiful Damariscotta River. The house is spacious and has a large dining room table that makes it ideal for large family gatherings (it doesn't hurt that affordable lobsters can be purchased, pre-cooked or not, a short walk away!).

Enjoyable week on the coast of Maine
We had a wonderful stay at the Yellow House. Our group consisted of three generations. The oldest in our group appreciated having bedrooms and bath on the first floor. The back porch overlooking the water was so peaceful and was a favorite place to gather, but the house offered plenty of space for those seeking quiet. The proximity to town was great to get the paper, a cup of coffee, or ice cream. We hope to go back!
The Yellow House
Wonderful old house in excellent location with fantastic view. Very clean and well-equipped and very nice owner. Only 2 negatives--some of the windows won't open, making the upstairs hot at times, though there are plenty of fans which help a lot. Also, needs more smoke detectors. We had a great time!
The Perfect Family House in the Perfect Mid-Coast Maine Location
The house is old, spacious, and full of charm yet equipped with up-to-date appliances and amenities. The upstairs and downstairs are quite private from each other. Tables and shelves are stocked with games, puzzles, and an eclectic array of books.
The back porch is serene, looking across the expansive yard to the Damariscotta River -- a perfect mirror for often spectacular sunsets.
The yard is beautiful - right on the water with a gently rolling lawn that's great for games. It's perfect for a well-behaved dog - lots of space to play fetch and somewhat naturally "fenced" if your dog doesn't tend to take off on its own.
It's a very short walk to "downtown" Damariscotta / Newcastle with coffee shops, restaurants, shops for both enticing and necessary items. There are many nearby art galleries, including right across the street. In mid/late June, the rhododendrons and other flowers are beautifully in full bloom.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Yellow House. We love the home and town and are always thrilled when other families are able to enjoy it too!
