Neighborhood: Lowry Hill is one of the oldest and most desirable neighborhoods in the Twin Cities (Mount Curve is just two blocks away). Minneapolis is a beautiful and friendly city recognized for its well-preserved park system and its upscale amenities (museums, theaters, boutique coffee houses, bakeries, and restaurants). City-sponsored bicycles are available everywhere in the summer ("Nice Ride"), “Lime” electric bikes and “Lime” and “Bird” scooters also in the area, and watercraft can be rented at lake Calhoun ("Wheel Fun Rentals"), including canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, and paddle boats with water-sprayers all summer long. Winter offers amazing snow and ice recreation, including an ice rink right out of a Norman Rockwell painting just blocks away and beautiful cross country ski trails over the lakes and through the parks. The luminary LOPPET on Lake of the Isles is a wonderland (fundraiser for winter rec for city kids: tickets sell out fast, so get them while you can!)
Transport: Light rail "blue line" runs from the Mall of America, to MSP terminals 1 & 2, to historic Fort Snelling, through South Minneapolis neighborhoods, into Midtown (a bustling ethnic area of Minneapolis incorporating mostly Latino, Somali, and American culture), and through downtown (with stops at Vikings US Bank Stadium, Timberwolves Target Center, and Twins Target Field). MTC bus lines run from all stops on the light rail and all across the greater metro. An offshoot light rail "green line" runs between the downtowns of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, and through the University campus. Driving is easy, and our neighborhood is centrally located where Hwy. 394, Hwy. 94, and Hwy. 35W meet. Go less than two miles from our tree-lined cozy residential streets to the East and you'll be in the hub of downtown; less than two miles to the South and you're in the hub of Uptown. Hop on the highway heading West and you can be on the shores of Lake Minnetonka (Wayzata, Excelsior) in 30 minutes; Go East and discover Saint Paul in 20; or the University of Minnesota and other nearby college campuses in 5-15. On street parking is free. In a snow emergency, we have a very long driveway that can accommodate extra cars. The neighborhood is extremely safe with very little crime. Occasionally people come through overnight checking for unlocked cars, so bring your valuables inside and always lock up.
