About Todd & Peggy Allen
Savage Hart Farm’s owner/operators – Peggy and Todd Allen – have turned a beautiful post and beam 4-bedroom home on 32 acres into a working farm with a vacation rental apartment. We moved onto the farm in July of 2012, and only a month later we were joined by our “starter” flock consisting mostly of colored Corriedale sheep. By October, we had built a small barn and installed about 4000 feet of permanent fencing to get us through our first winter. With 25 acres of grass, the sheep have plenty of room to grow. We produce and sell beautiful natural colored and dyed yarns, lambskin rugs, hand-knitted/felted hats, and lamb sausage.
Todd & Peggy Allen purchased this Apartment in 2012
Why Todd & Peggy Allen chose Hartford
This is a quintessential Vermont setting with all the modern amenities and just minutes away from several of towns, and dozens of activities and outdoor fun.
What makes this Apartment unique
You know it's special when the local folks come visit and say, 'I had no idea there was a view like this!' Easy to get to (close to the intersection of I-89 and I-91) but so far away from it all! The views are to die for!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Incredible location, beautiful accommodations, clean and as described, hosts very welcoming and kind. Highly recommend!!!
Summertime in Vermont
Wonderful stay. Thank you, Todd & Peg, for your hospitality.
We really enjoyed it - and that's with an oppressive heatwave.
I can only imagine the beautiful views in the fall :)
Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated. Indeed fall is pretty spectacular, but we're bit biased. We think all the seasons are pretty knock out! Thanks for choosing to stay with us. Best, Peg
Love, love, love those sheep!
We spent a wonderful two weeks at Todd and Peggy’s farm. The apartment is clean, private and centrally located to all Upper Valley attractions. Todd and Peggy were quick to help with information and suggestions for hikes, attractions, etc. If only I could have figured out a way to get one of those adorable sheep in the car...
My husband and I spent four nights at Savage Hart’s Sheep Farm. Peggy and Todd are great hosts. Meeting them was like seeing friends you haven’t seen in awhile. They told us about their farm and how they got started raising sheep; I even got to bottle feed #23, as Todd call her. They do not name the sheep until they pick those they intend to keep.
The vacation rental is clean and cozy with a spectacular view. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. I loved the sheets on the bed. We slept with the windows open. Not only was the fresh Vermont air refreshing but hearing the sheep in the morning was also a great experience.
The property seems to be in the middle of nowhere; however only a few miles to King Arthur Cafe and Baking School or a Walmart.
Words can not express the view from the farm , except that it is heavenly!
Mark and I highly recommend this property, if you’re in Vermont.
We hope to visit Vermont some Fall and will definitely book with Peggy and Todd again!
Thanks so much for the kind words. #23 is now actually getting milk from her mom, but we still feed her once daily.
Spectacular views and lovely sheep!
Our family of four stayed at Savage Hart Farm for two days for our Dartmouth reunion. The photos in the listing sold us on the place and we were excited about the sheep. The panoramic views were spectacular and the apartment was only 10 minutes from Dartmouth. Todd spent a very generous amount of time introducing us to the sheep and telling us all about the history of the farm. Great experience and would highly recommend this place.
Enjoyed meeting you and your daughters and showing you the sheep. Hope your early departure on Sunday wasn't too difficult!
Gorgeous, peaceful, hill top location. Comfortable, well equipped, clean apartment. Attentive hosts. Views could not be beat. Great area for hiking. biking, shopping, or simply watching the sheep move from field to field, and the clouds roll across the sky. Our family of four had a wonderful week end.
Glad you all had a nice time!
We are surrounded by terrific area attractions including: King Arthur Flour Education Center, Cafe, and Store;
Dartmouth College, The Appalachian Trail, Billings Farm & Museum, the Rockefeller National Historic Park, the Vermont Institute Nature Center, Norwich Farmers' Market and the Montshire Children's Science Museum. We're also less than 25 minutes away from Woodstock, Vermont.
