We thought Morningside was great!
We found this house to be even better than expected. All of the amenities were in very good condition, the house was super clean and the view incomparable. Would definitely like to rent Morningside again.
Very nice home with spectacular views. We enjoyed canoeing a lot! We will come again.
Beautiful setting overlooking the Bay and ocean. We lived on the balcony and desk.
A peaceful retreat. Great place for a family to reconnect.
Thank you. I hope that you will return.
Morningside is beautiful - both inside and out!
This place is just as it was advertised - if not better. The views of the cove and ocean are fabulous. The house is very clean, very comfortable and the huge windows on the water side make it feel like a tree house. The 2 loft bedrooms limit the amount of privacy one has but the downstairs bedroom can be totally closed off for those who want that. David was quick to respond to our needs and was very accommodating.
We will definitely make a return visit to Morningside!
It was very nice meeting you and I look forward to seeing you and your family in the future.
Really a one bedroom house with no privacy for more than one couple. We use VRBO a lot and this was the most disappointing property. We actually left early. The house has the absolute minimum in utensils and old beat up cooking pots and pans. The photos are deceiving with a perceived water access but it is nearly impassable and the dock area is poor at best and the Kayaks in the picture somehow disappeared. The one bathroom was nice but very chintzy towels. Beyond that it is 20 miles from anywhere on a dirt road and infested with mosquitos.
I am upset when a guest might have felt they had a bad or disappointing experience at "Morningside".
I want all guests to feel comfortable and have a great vacation.
I am available 24/7 and welcome a phone call or text at ANYTIME that you might have a concern while staying here. I will do anything, if possible, to rectify a situation.
I hope that all guests will read the narrative and pictures provided for "Morningside".
In those narratives I provide as much information as possible. If you have any questions before your arrival I encourage you to contact me anytime at your convenience.
The narrative statements from "Morningside's" HOMEAWAY website have always included multiple references that the upstairs bedrooms are of the "open loft" type in without doors or walls.
A 10 ' fold-out room-divider screen is provided to give as much visual privacy as possible.
It is also stated that the kayaks shown in the opening "float" picture are NOT provided.
There are two nearby kayak rental businesses if you are not able to bring your own.
I have never had a complaint before about the amount of or quality of cooking utensils , pots , or pans, I will take an inventory and discuss it with the owner.
The coffee maker, dishwasher, toaster oven, washer, and dryer were all purchased in the past two years.
The "Morningside" photos were taken by a professional and the house, landscaping, and dock area are exactly as you see them (except for the new float ramp built last year).
The porch is 25 feet from the steps leading down to the dock and float.
The float was built three years ago, the ramp last year, and the dock and steps were completely rebuilt this spring.
There are two bathrooms in the house, one on the ground floor and a spacious one upstairs between the two open loft bedrooms.
The bathroom towels were purchased last year, are of a high quality, and do not show any wear, otherwise they would not be acceptable to be used in "Morningside".
The dirt road (Gun Point Road) to get to "Morningside" is exactly 1.3 miles long (as written in the narrative and driving directions).
In the springtime with multiple days rain this road can be definitely be muddy.
By Memorial Day it has been graded out and then maintained weekly for ruts.
Although there are too many places to mention I would like to include a very small sampling of things that are WITHIN 20 miles of "Morningside"
Places of interest:
1)Maine Maritime Museum...16 miles
2) Bowdoin College Museum of Art …. 11 miles
3) Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum....11 miles
4)Eagle Island State Park (boat ride needed)….12 miles
5) Maine State Music Theater...10 miles
Mere Creek...8 miles
Brunswick Golf Course....14 miles
Highland Green Golf Course....14 miles
Vegetable Corner.... 3miles
Wild Oats...…………..12 miles
There are far too many to mention.
Some of the best seafood restaurants in mid-coast Maine are in the Harpswell & Brunswick area .
The diversity of cultural restaurants cannot be matched except for the Portland area.
All of these offerings are within 20 miles of "Morningside".
So if decide that you need to do something else beside spending a relaxing week at "Morningside"
I would encourage guests to look for the many things "to do" in the area.
As for the mosquitos.... I cannot do anything about them but provide a couple of bottles of bug spray at "Morningside". If you prefer something different than "OFF" brand mosquito spray I would suggest you bring your own .
Beautiful house with beautiful view. Very clean and well equipped kitchen.
