The second cottage is an old boathouse that has been renovated to include a full kitchen, bath and bedroom. There is an open space perfect for yoga, lectures, or just enjoying. A large Balinese bed, loft, and extra Queen sized bed allow for up to 7 people to sleep in this rustic yet elegant home.
A massive Buddah reflects on the water where there is a raised stone deck with chaises to relax. A perfect place for meditation or relaxing.
Extremely romantic, yet perfect for families, gatherings, retreats or enjoying a special place with friends.
There is not another place in West Marin like this one. Waterfront, two unique homes, land to explore and enjoy and fully equipped for your enjoyment.
The owner is a designer who has traveled the world. She is happy to share the treasures she has collected with people who appreciate nature and want a memorable experience.
Dana is a designer that travels the world. With a love of flea markets, yoga, writing and nature she seeks to share her magical retreat on the water with you.
Dana Cappiello purchased this house in 2013
The view. The unique furnishings. The privacy. Truly the coolest home on the Bay. With lots of room to enjoy the outside, the land is over an acre. Private beach. Set on the water, not the highway. Great alternative to Nick's Cove when you are seeking value, privacy and first class waterfront accommodations!
This private property has two homes. Perfect for retreats, special events or landmark holidays. The separate cottage originally was one of the main boat building sites on Tomales Bay. Spacious and unique, it can be used for yoga, lectures or as an extra home for additional guests. It is large and has a full kitchen, bath and separate bedroom.
I recently stayed at this property with 9 others on a girls trip. We were immediately blown away by it's charm and unique decor. The layout is perfect for large groups with 5 double beds plus several single sleeping options and great spaces to gather as a group. The view of the ocean fills the living room through the enormous windows spanning the wall. The bathrooms and kitchen are beautiful and stocked with everything you could need, including your own fresh eggs from the chicken coop. The owner made several suggestions for nearby activities and dining which were all spot on. I am already planning my trip back!!
My family and I were amazed at how perfect this spot on Tomales Bay is. Dana has turned this bay cottage into a luxurious paradise for travelers exploring West Marin. The unobstructed views of sunsets and birds are incredible. The main house is filled with beauty and light, with every detail of comfort provided. The guest "barn" is private and whimsical and is ideal for extra guests. The location is wonderful, very peaceful and secluded yet only a short, beautiful drive to Point Reyes Station. And the fabulous meals we had at Nick's Cove were just a stone's throw away. I highly recommend this property and can't wait to return.
We rented Dana's House to be near the location of my son's wedding at the Straus Home Ranch just across the highway http://straushomeranch.com.
Dana was wonderful working with us to host the wedding rehearsal dinner at her beautiful house on the bay. We hosted a large party with wine and appetizers served in the gorgeous dinning room of the house with expansive views of the the bay and dinner in the boathouse. Many of our guests were from the east coast and were delighted by the beauty and tranquility of the location, the house and the boathouse. With it's curated art charm the house and boathouse are not your genetic rental. One guest said if a rock star was hosting a party in Tomales Bay this is where he would do it. The location is amazing with sunset evenings and seashore wildlife filled mornings. We couldn't be more pleased with our overall experience.
The house, ambiance, decor, and stunning natural setting are unmatched. The description of a collection of world travels is so spot on. The owner was highly responsive and explicit with directions. There is a hot tub, teepee (sleeps two - seriously, it was great even on a cold night), chickens, and a view to absolutely die for. The price is a bargain for what you get. The detailing is remarkable. This place looks like it came out of architectural digest. Thank you Dana. I guarantee I will be back with my family. It was the perfect celebration spot for my mother's 72nd birthday!
The intent of my review is to share this extremely negative experience with this very rude and self righteous Innkeeper so that other travelers may avoid a similar problem.
We never entered or stayed at the property that we reserved for the weekend because the Innkeeper's instructions for entering were so bad that we were unable to gain access. We tried to reach her by phone upon our arrival at 6 pm to get directions on how to enter. We tried numerous times after that and left messages each time, but she didn't answer her phone. She had two lock boxes on the property but she only mentioned one in her note and we never found the right one. Instead, we all had to go and find hotels 30 minutes from the property so that our small children could go to sleep.
The innkeeper finally contacted me by phone at 9am the following morning. After a difficult and sleepless night in an uncomfortable hotel bed, it would have nice if she had apologized for the difficulty she had caused all of us by being unavailable for the entire evening of our check in. Instead, her initial comments were that we had ruined her weekend because she missed her sailing class and had to drive up to let us into the property.
I told her that it had never been necessary for her to drive up to let us in. Instead, she had only needed to return any one of the numerous phone calls we made trying to reach her the night before to obtain entry directions. She responded by saying that check in was at 3pm and we were late because we showed up at 6. She apparently felt no obligation to be available after 3pm to assist us in checking in. None of us had ever been informed of that deadline prior to renting or at any time during the process.
She then proceeded to insult our intelligence because we couldn't figure out how to gain access on our own. When 5 people ( two doctors, a professional investor and two artists with 50 years of higher education between us), are reading the same instructions and can't figure it out -- it's safe to assume that the fault lies with the person providing the instructions.
I'm sure her home is quite beautiful. The views are incredible. But this person has no business charging people money to rent her home -- she's just far too flakey.
We we're over the moon with this amazing rental. First, the view out the enormous front picture window of Tomales Bay is mesmerizing and you can spend all day watching the light and surface change on the water. The kitchen and grill had everything we needed. Once food was set there are multiple wonderful places to set out the meal both inside and outside that can accommodate a large group. From the pier, chairs by the water, or in the houses you can watch cormorants diving and boats go by. Finally, the location is great for access to Pt. Reyes, bicycling, the fantastic coast up north, and many more opportunities.
Just over an hour from San Francisco, yet like visiting another country. Private, yet lots to do. A foodie farm-to-table mecca, with oysters, grass fed beef, organic farms, Cow Girl Creamery, Wineries, Brick Maiden Bakery. Great restaurants or private meals with the farmers. Kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, trail running, hiking, horseback riding, biking or just be lazy. Blissful.
Less than an hour to the Napa Valley, Sonoma, Bodega Bay.
