About Jane Black
We live in Atlanta, GA about 2.5 hours from Highlands. We love the Highlands atmosphere and plan to spend more time here.
Jane Black purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Jane Black chose Sugarfork
My grandparents built a vacation home in Highlands in 1935. I visited during the summer while growing up and the area still feels like 'home'. The sound of the creek is what drew us to this current property.
What makes this Cottage unique
The weather is delightful all summer and not severe very often during the winter. Gardening is easily successful because of the weather.

Rained the entire time and still wonderful!
My wife and I come to Trickledown regularly. Even though it rained every day, there is no place we would rather be. Sitting on the screened porch with blankets enjoying a glass of wine, and listening to the roaring sounds of Big Creek and the rain suited us just fine. There was plenty of fire wood, a well equipped kitchen, and gas grill. Great restaurants and shopping just 3 miles away. Peaceful and well appointed and beautifully landscaped make Trickledown our favorite home away from home and just 2-1/2 hours away from Marietta. The owner is always responsive. Can't wait to return!
Thank you for the positive comments including a positive take on the rain you enjoyed! We are looking forward to your next visit.
Magical in every way!
Rarely can will you come across such a magical little cottage where the owner has lovingly created a magical getaway for lucky guests. As an extra bonus, your dog is welcome to come and join in the fun. Highly recommended.
First-class weekend getaway.
We had the opportunity to visit the Highands area and stay at Trickle Down. It is a beautiful and well-appointed home in an equally beautiful setting. The sound of the creek behind the house was a highlight. We definitely recommend this for 1-2 couples and we will undoubtedly return to Trickle Down. Thank you for a fantastic and memorable weekend.
Third visit did not disappoint even though it rained all 7 days we were there
We feel in love with Trickledown the first time we visited. The attention to personal details by owner Jane Black is truly 5 star!! She has a talent and passion for creating an experience that her guests will always remember as right up there with there most memorable rentals.
This visit it rained all 7 days thanks for Storm Adolfo, Highlands has the most rain since 1943!!! While the creek below roared, we had a fire and read books and took naps.
Jane must have 200 books of all genre so we and our friends found plenty to read and do.
I could go on and on about the detail of personal items Jane has provided as well as everything a cook might need is in the kitchen.
We will be back in September.

Pictures don't do Trickledown justice. It is a magic place.
Saying that all you need to bring is a toothbrush won't work for Trickledown because EVERYTHING has been taken care of including that toothbrush! The home is extremely well maintained and appointed and comfortable from the feather down pillows and comforter to the cozy throws and overstuffed chairs. Well appointed kitchen and bathrooms. Tons of fabulous books, and a great fireplace with lots of kiln dried wood for the taking.
The pathways down to Big Creek are special with lots of "surprise" findings.
Big Creek boils over a slick rock at the end of a path leading to the sandy beach. Can't really say enough about this special space.
