Trickledown is situated on Big Creek close to Highlands, NC. There is a King bedroom and bath with a large shower upstairs next to a comfortable sitting room with a library and tv. Downstairs there is a queen bedroom and bath with a jacuzzi tub. The large gathering area has a botanical and biographical library and tv, fireplace and dining area. The kitchen has all amenities including a coffee/bar 'nook'. All across the back is a long screen porch and Big Creek sounds. There is a sitting area with a wicker sofa and rocking chairs on one side and a dining area on the other. Easy access to the kiln dried wood pile and the outdoor grille. The path to the creek features an iris garden. Other areas outside have 'special' garden areas like a moss garden, meditation garden, grandchildren's garden, succulent garden, 'gnome' path.

We live in Atlanta, GA about 2.5 hours from Highlands. We love the Highlands atmosphere and plan to spend more time here.

My grandparents built a vacation home in Highlands in 1935. I visited during the summer while growing up and the area still feels like 'home'. The sound of the creek is what drew us to this current property.
The weather is delightful all summer and not severe very often during the winter. Gardening is easily successful because of the weather.
Saying that all you need to bring is a toothbrush won't work for Trickledown because EVERYTHING has been taken care of including that toothbrush! The home is extremely well maintained and appointed and comfortable from the feather down pillows and comforter to the cozy throws and overstuffed chairs. Well appointed kitchen and bathrooms. Tons of fabulous books, and a great fireplace with lots of kiln dried wood for the taking.
The pathways down to Big Creek are special with lots of "surprise" findings.
Big Creek boils over a slick rock at the end of a path leading to the sandy beach. Can't really say enough about this special space.

Such a special place we visit every year!
We continue to come back to Trickledown because we are never disappointed. This cozy two bedroom cottage always overwhelms us and our invited guests. I have commented previously on many occasions concerning the landscaping, interior design, linens, furnishings, firewood, outside grill, etc. No detail has been overlooked. The lull of the roaring Big Creek in the back yard is the most soothing sound we know. We continue coming up from Atlanta every two months. We can't help it!
Although we have experimented with many accommodations in the Highlands/Cashiers area, this is our #1 destination.
As I said, we are ever disappointed!

Beautifully appointed home is in the most picturesque setting you can imagine. This home was perfect for two couples. The upstairs bedroom and bath opens onto a beautiful sitting room. The downstairs bedroom and bath is cozy and quiet. We enjoyed our coffee by the fireplace in the morning and cocktails on the screened porch in the evening. The owner is delightful and the amenities are plentiful. We can’t wait to return to this Highlands gem.
From the first sound or the rushing water from the creek behind the house to every detail - the visit was absolutely fabulous !!
We were 15 minutes from downtown Highlands which made it perfect to either shop, look for the water falls or have our meals. The cabin was so well appointed that we could have stayed there the entire time and we would love to come back some day to do just that.
Loved it! Can't wait to come back!
