Trickledown is situated on Big Creek close to Highlands, NC. There is a King bedroom and bath with a large shower upstairs next to a large sitting room with a library and tv. Downstairs there is a queen bedroom and bath with a jacuzzi tub. The large gathering area has a botanical and biographical library and tv, fireplace and dining area. There is a sitting area with a wicker sofa and rocking chairs on one side and a dining area on the other. Easy access to the kiln dried wood pile and the outdoor grille. We live in Atlanta, GA about 2.5 hours from Highlands.
Jane Black purchased this cottage in 2007
My grandparents built a vacation home in Highlands in 1935. I visited during the summer while growing up and the area still feels like 'home'. The sound of the creek is what drew us to this current property.
The weather is delightful all summer and not severe very often during the winter. Gardening is easily successful because of the weather.
Our second time with Jane, and it was delightful as before. My wife had a special
birthday and this was the place we chose. Can't wait to return to hear the rushing
We thoroughly enjoyed everything this property had to offer. We have no negative feedback! It was charming and lovely from the views, decor, and proximity to downtown. We will stay again!
Trickledown is a beautiful home nestled in the woods above a roaring creek. It was private yet not secluded. It had everything and more that we could have ever wanted or needed for a great stay in the Highlands. Jane makes a great effort to make sure guests are welcomed and comfortable. Town was a short drive down the road and there were plenty of places to hike nearby. It was a first-class accommodation.
This is our fourth or fifth stay now at Trickledown and we have experienced it in all four seasons now. It is just charming and has literally everything you could possibly want or need during your stay. The setting is idyllic and they are dog friendly which is a major plus for us. It is comfy and cozy and we are already looking forward to our next time. The location is great and you can easily access town and some great hikes and scenery as well as just have some nice walks around the area. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a family, friends or romantic getaway.....
My wife and I absolutely love Trickledown. We stay here regularly because Jane takes care of every detail to make us feel at home. This is a wonderful home for one or two couples to take advantage of Highlands. The sounds of Big Creek fill the house when the door to the porch is open and the stresses of life just melt away. The interior decor and the beautiful landscaping with the meandering trails to the creek and through the woods make Trickledown our ideal getaway. We hate leaving and can't wait until we return.
This was our third stay at Trickledown. It is beginning to feel like our home away from home. We just love coming here. Jane is the consummate hostess. She takes care of everything. We love sitting by the fireplace and reading or watching movies. I can't think of a better place to just get away and relax.
