Overview

About the property

Large house with 34ft swimming pool, 6-8 bedrooms (two connected) walled gardens

A large, comfortable family house which can accommodate a party of up to 13 or 14 people and so is suitable for two or more families sharing. Indeed, there are two kitchens, three toilet/bathrooms and patios to front and rear so families need not be on top of each other. There are walled gardens to front and rear, giving privacy and the assurance that children can not disappear! The pool is separated from the rest of the property by a high fence and lockable doors and gates, so that children cannot wander in unseen.

Notes:
Linen and towels are not normally supplied but may sometimes be by arrangement. Our house, which is built of stone, was constructed late in the 19th century by a local family with wine and distillery interests. A further house was subsequently built on to it for the same family. It appears similar from the front but there are no longer any inter-connections between the two houses and they are separate, very large family houses. The adjoining house is occupied for part of the year by one person. There are two kitchens in our house. The main kitchen is at the front, and there is a smaller one at the back. Both have an electric cooker, an extractor and a hob (gas at front, electric at back). Both have a fridge-freezer, dishwasher and a double sink. There is more cupboard space in the front kitchen and a wooden breakfast table with seating for eight people. There is no table in the back kitchen. The washing machine is in the back kitchen.

Fantastic Holiday in Paulhan

  • 5 of 5

Myself and 13 school friends arrived at Paulhan on the 10th June for a 50th Celebration. It was the perfect house for a school reunion. Plenty of space, lovely pool and very easy and comfortable living. We spent a lot of the time sitting round the huge table outside, as well as sitting round the pool. Its the perfect base to explore the glorious area, with plently of beautiful towns nearby to visit. The village is very French, with some good restaurants within walking distance and a great bar at the end of the road! If you are looking for somewhere rustic and away from the tourist trail, this is the place. I would strongly recommend it for large adult parties, as well as families as there are a lot of children's toys in the garden with plenty of sunbeds and chairs for the adults. The kitchen has everything that you need, including dishwasher, washing machine etc. All in all a superbly situated house, in a very French village, with close access to gorgeous towns and the sea is about 20 mins away.

déception totale

  • 1 of 5

  • 1 of 5

Paulhan is a small village (pop. 2500 approx) in the heart of a wine growing area in the Languedoc Roussillon region of southern France, within 20 minutes drive of the Mediterranean and 35 minutes from Montpellier. There is also swimming and sailing on Lac Salagou (a large lake) 15 minutes to the north. Although Paulhan is within easy reach of the beaches, main tourist centres (eg market town of Pezenas which is ten minutes down the road) it is a typical French village with few foreign tourists even in the height of the summer.

Montpellier is 40 minutes from Paulhan. There are also airports with links to the UK at Beziers (25 mins), Nimes, Perpignan and Carcassonne (all 65 mins), Toulouse, Avignon and Marseilles (all 1hr 50 mins) and Girona in Spain (2 hrs).
