Three-bedrooms Plus Den, Three Baths, Relaxation At Its Finest!
We would love to share our awesome, nearly-new home in a fantastic setting with you. Upon your arrival, you'll know that you're in for a treat.
A brick paver driveway and walkway lead to an inviting glass double door. Upon entering that door, the welcoming entryway opens up to the spacious great room and its soaring coffered ceiling. The great room is also open to a spectacular kitchen and dining area.
You'll enjoy the view of the fully screened brick paver lanai, heated pool, and spa. Zero corner sliders in the great room and dining room disappear to completely open the living area up to the lanai. This sensational feature allows for the perfect blending of outdoor and indoor living.
The beautiful pool is 13x26 and includes a sunshelf that is ideal for sunning and for the little ones. The home offers three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, plus a den with a queen-sized sofa sleeper. With tasteful 18x18 tile floors extending throughout the home, exquisite granite countertops in the kitchen, all bathrooms, and even the laundry room, the zero corner sliders, three beautiful coffered ceilings, and the saltwater pool and spa, this is the ideal Florida lifestyle experience!
The house is beautiful, and the amenities are second-to-none! Fully stocked with everything you'll need, including FREE WI-FI and satellite TV.
The home is set on a southern exposure lot so you'll get plenty of that famous Florida sun. We recently added an 8 by 16 foot dock so you can secure your boat or enjoy fishing right out the back door! The canal we're on is a short boat ride away from the river and Charlotte Harbor, which leads directly into the Gulf of Mexico.

About Ken Tharp
We've both been Midwesterners our whole lives, but we've loved the chances we've had to travel. Florida has always been a favorite destination. Kristen has worked in libraries for many years, and is currently employed in the library of our city's medical school. Ken owns and operates a real estate service business that helps investors minimize tax liabilities. We discovered when our kids were very little that we really enjoyed Florida. We have traveled to several locations in the state over the years, but we truly love the Gulf Coast. If you haven't been to the Ft. Myers/Sarasota area before, you're in for a treat. And if you have been here in the past, you know what we mean!
Ken Tharp purchased this Villa in 2013
Why Ken Tharp chose South Gulf Cove
A few years ago, we set our minds to acquiring a home in Florida that we could not only enjoy ourselves, but allow others to enjoy, too. We've been fortunate enough to make that happen! When we found Port Charlotte and South Gulf Cove, we knew we had found where we wanted to be. The combination of close proximity to beaches, golf, and fishing opportunities with the seclusion of a quiet residential area is unbeatable.
What makes this Villa unique
When we come to Florida, our primary goal is to enjoy the sunshine and the beaches. Finding a home with a rear southern exposure was very important to us so we could maximize the impact of the sun on the lanai and pool. Creating a Florida experience within that home was our objective. You'll love what we've put together!

Hibiscus Chateau Whoa!
I cannot speak highly enough about Ken & Kris and the Hibiscus Chateau! If you're looking for an amazing place to stay in the Port Charlotte area then this is the spot for you. From the minute we entered the house it felt like home, the open floor plan with gorgeous outdoor space was reminiscent of a family home nearby that we used to visit frequently. The baby fence around the pool gave us peace of mind at night when we put our son to bed and it was a snap to put in and take down. There is nothing you will want for with a stay at Hibiscus Chateau, the house is loaded with amenities, chairs and toys for the beach, comfy lounging spaces by the lanai and pool/spa, beds that were comfortable and enough room to spread out. There is a Publix (Grocery Store) just a very short drive from the house, which was great for those quick shops that we needed to get in for snacks/picnics. A short drive will land you at some great local eateries (a must for trying out the non chain options in the area). While there we rented a boat from a local company and it was very easy to navigate the waterways from the port right up to the dock at the house. There are amazing spots that can be accessed with a boat that are not possible to get to by car! Ken was always available for any questions that came up and responded quickly. We definitely hope to return again soon!
Wonderful Home! Can't wait to return!
We loved this vacation rental! It was spotless and modern. The home was beautifully furnished and comfortable. We loved the location; it was so quiet but close enough to everything. My husband and son went fishing at the Boca Grande pier every morning - 15 minutes away. It's also close to Port Charlotte with many shops, movies, and restaurants.
The pool and spa at this home are gorgeous, and we had fun floating around the pool. Myakka State Park is about 30 minutes away if you want to take a boat ride, ride a bike, or see alligators up close.
It was nice meeting Ken and Kris the owners who are building another beautiful house just down the street from this one.
Thanks for a wonderful vacation and we hope to return soon!
Excellent home. Leaves little to not enjoy
The spa, pool, openness to the outside and spacious and well appointed inside are highlights. The king size bed is exceptionally comfortable. The bathroom and especially the walk in shower handicapped accessible is terrific. Outside tv is an added bonus. The only item that needs to be addressed is that the pool and spa need railings to make it totally handicapped accessible. The children fence is a great safety item. Finally the house is very well equipped in all regards. Pool accessories tools bikes and beach chairs make the place complete. We would love to rent it again.
Marvelous home...memorable vacation!
My wife and I recently spent six delightful, relaxing weeks at this impressive home. We have stayed in rental homes before and have come to expect the best that Florida has to offer. We certainly found that here. This house met all of our expectations and then some. It was waterfront, beautifully appointed yet comfortable, had a lovely lanai with heated swimming pool and hot tub, and even welcomed our small dog. The house is clean and extremely well stocked inside and out with anything a family might need during their stay. We were even pleased that there were two bikes available to explore the beautiful neighborhood around us. The area is quiet and peaceful with gorgeous beaches, interesting and fun tourist sites, and great shopping just a short drive away. The owners have certainly gone out of their way to ensure that each guest’s stay is a happy one. We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent at Hibiscus Chateau.
Just keeps getting better!!!
This is our second time staying at this home and we have no desire to go anywhere else. The communication from the owners is stellar, the home is clean and well decorated and the location is perfect for us.
I loved opening the lani doors and hanging out in the evening. The outdoor TV is a bonus and it's super comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, there are plenty of towels and there are FUN pool toys for your entertainment. These guys have really not missed a beat.
I loved that the master bedroom is on the other side of the home of the two guest rooms and that one of the guest rooms has a private bath.
We stayed for two weeks and never once did we get bored or feel out of place. We brought our boat ( Yep, all the way from Minnesota) and had a blast checking out the homes in the canal and going fishing. The lock was easy to navigate and we had no problems with anything around the water.
There are places to eat nearby and we keep finding more each time we are in the area. The beaches are wonderful and there are plenty of places to walk nearby. If you like to workout outside, there is a fitness park about 1/2 mile away that makes for a fun change in routine.
I could keep going but this will get way too long. This is a great place for vacation and you won't regret a moment.
Beautiful Home has it all!!!
My wife and five children just returned from our stay at Hibiscus Chateau and words cannot do this home justice. The canal provides a beautiful backdrop while swimming in the pool or cooking in the spacious well equipped kitchen. The home is big, yet cozy and inviting. Everything was clean and well taken care off. We enjoyed the outside tv, pool and hot tub (gorgeous patio and pool). My family already wants to book this home again for next summer and we just returned home. Ken was very thorough with all instructions and was accessible for any questions I may have had. This home is a can't miss for any vacation. Hopefully we will be back. Thanks again Ken and Kris
-Brett F. and family
Brett, thanks so much for the great review. We try to do everything we can to create the "home away from home" that works for our guests. We're glad you liked it and we would love to see a return trip--you're welcome anytime!! Thanks again, Ken
Some of the most beautiful beaches anywhere are within a 30 minute drive. Shelling, swimming, sunning, and shark tooth collecting are all fun and relaxing.
If you're a golfer, you will find many fantastic courses, also within 30 minutes. Four championship courses are nearby, and there's one that offers 24-hour tee times using floodlights! They all rent equipment and players of all ages are welcome.
For fishermen, you can indulge your passion right in the backyard, rent a boat for more serious sessions, or go on one of the many area daily charters.
Restaurants abound, and several great alternatives are nearby. We'll be happy to give you our recommendations, and there's a list of some of our favorites in the house.
For the shopper, Port Charlotte has all of the recognized name stores, plus local specialty shops. Nearby Punta Gorda is another source for great shopping alternatives. A large Publix grocery store (great key lime pie!) is five minutes away, as are gasoline stations and other shopping.
