The house was fine, Not cleaned when we arrived.

  • 2 of 5

The house was nice and the location was peaceful. However, when we arrived the house had not been cleaned and the code for the house door had not been changed. I had to wait for the property manager to arrive and clean the house. Once that was complete the stay was fine.

Wonderful private home

  • 5 of 5

We had a very peaceful, quiet week away from our normal busy lives. The home is an eclectic mix which made it so interesting. It was clean and Emma was most helpful when I had to call her. We loved the Saguaro National Park being on our doorstep for hiking and cycling and the Desert Museum. We ate mostly at home as it was a 25 minute drive into Tucson itself, but we enjoy eating at home. Only wish was that the pool was heated as March weather led to the pool being only 62 degrees. One word of advice for first time visitors is to arrive in daylight as there is a long sandy road leading to the property. Thanks for a peaceful week.

The location is desert beautiful....

  • 3 of 5

The property is set in the beautiful Sonoran Desert. Be aware of the gate cactus and don’t get too close. We enjoyed the quirky decor of the home, but it definitely needs upgraded electrical work. We were disappointed in the limited quantity of cookware in the kitchen and the type of stove, but managed some great meals using pre-soaked mesquite wood and the newer model gas grill. Don’t plan on using the pool in March. Even at 83 degrees outside it was way too cold. There is plenty of hot water for showers, etc, but be aware that the washer is outside and the dryer is solar (aka clothesline). The location of the property is good, very private, close to Saguaro National Park, Tuscon, and Kitt Mt. Be aware that it is accessible only by dirt roads. Lastly, filter the water or purchase water for consumption. The tap water has a distinct metallic taste. Overall, it was a unique experience. We enjoyed our week despite the quirks of the rental.

Owner's Response: Hi Ellen, Thank you for letting us know about your stay! We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the property’s great location and the gas grill. We do apologize for your disappointment over not being able to enjoy the 25 meter pool due to the season. We have never advertised the pool as heated, but we appreciate that it impacted your stay! The homeowner is dedicated to the comfort of their guests and has made several updates to their home based on your feedback. They have removed the cacti near the front gate, and will be adding a dryer later in the summer. They will also provide clearer instructions on the home’s electrical system for future guests. The water for the property is provided by the local Avra Water Cooperative, and is regularly tested and confirmed as safe to drink, although the water softener may have affected the taste. Thank you again for your feedback, and we look forward to traveling with you again soon! Best, the Evolve Team

Would not stay here again

  • 1 of 5

Unique and challenging. Electrical unreliable, extra uninvited "guests". A little too remote and too many things that went bump in the night. Comfortable beds, very good customer service from the property manager. Cannot recommend to friends: privacy and safety issues. Too many cacti close to the gate. Enjoyed the Desert Museum, Sky Rider restaurant, food store within a 10 minute drive.

Owner's Response: Hi Catherine, We are sorry to hear that your stay fell short of expectations! The home is secluded on 5 private acres, and we do let travelers know that there is desert wildlife and flora in the area before they book the property. The homeowner appreciates your feedback, and has removed the cacti near the front gate to provide a better experience for future guests. We are glad that you were able to enjoy the nearby attractions, and do hope that we have the opportunity to travel with you again soon! Best, the Evolve Team

Desert charmer

  • 4 of 5

The property was as advertised. Comfortably accommodates two couples or 3-4 people. The house is unique and quirky and sits on a large property with lots of cacti. Truly a desert living experience. Saguaro National Park West and Desert Museum very accessible, within driving distance. The only real consideration is the mile long dirt washboard road to the house. I would stay here again!
