Relaxation at its best

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time on the creekside! Absolutely beautiful. We have two small kids and they adored it. They loved playing along the creeks edge in the warm afternoons. It is also very close to the Bowie Nature Park which has a great kids playground and nature trails. The cottage was clean and nicely appointed. The pics don't really show it but upstairs there is a small common area where all the guest bedrooms are that made a really great place to read to our boys each night. Would enjoy staying her again in the future.

A magical little cottage

  • 5 of 5

This home is perfect if you want to visit Nashville but you want to have a quiet place to return to at night. We enjoyed the fact that it is an old, historical home. We took 4 children, and they loved the stream and waterfall. They also learned a lot from the antique books and decor.

Loved it but little hot water

  • 2 of 5

This is a beautiful property and cottage. It is off the beaten path and a great location to get away from the city. Unfortunately, unless the hot water set-up is changed I cannot recommend the location. No one wants to pay this much per night and not be able to have a hot shower. The upstairs shower was lukewarm at best. The master bedroom shower was good as long as you know the folks staying in that room very well and don't mind barging in on them and not having a lot of privacy. There are multiple signs about the water posted throughout the house so the owner certainty knows this is an issue. The whole hot water set-up needs to be corrected in my opinion before more than a couple decide to stay there. Cottage is truly decorated lovely and the stream in the back is very relaxing.

Perfect for a celebration!

  • 4 of 5

The setting of this house - by the creek with a water fall is gorgeous and relaxing! The house is clean which is always a biggie for me. How it is decorated - that's a matter of personal preference for each person. Some will like it, some not but it fits the character of the house. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen has pretty much all you need. I could not find a large skillet just a small one so we had to scramble eggs a few at a time. I also could not find a cookie sheet for biscuits. Wal-Mart is within a few miles so we just ran down there and purchased one. Most people have their little personal quirks - one of mine is I cannot use dark washclothes and towels. The towels and washclothes in the house are gray - I was glad I packed my light colored ones from home. Surely, I am not the only person with the phobia of dark towels - haha! There is no carpet in the house which is another plus. The furniture is different than pictured, but nice. Several reviewers have mentioned the water. It is an inconvienence - it takes forever for it to get hot and then it never really gets that hot. When we discovered the master bath shower had the best hot water, since we were family, we each took turns with that shower. Did it diminish the fun of our stay - no - but it does need mentioning and it is the primary reason I am giving four stars versus five. The televisions are up to date and the house has Directv. The fireplace is cozy. The manager/owner is very good about responding to any questions or concerns in a timely manner. This home should by all means be considered for your time away place to stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review of the cottage. So glad you enjoyed your stay. I am sorry the towels were not the preferred color but it is truly hard to provide a specific color for each guest. So glad you had packed the white ones to bring with you. Our goal is to provide quality clean linens throughout the entire cottage for our guests. The sofa and the dining room chairs have been replaced due the the other ones had worn out. I did not take new pictures of the replacement pieces as my intent is to present the vision of the entire cottage for all my guests to see. The water at the cottage is on a well as with so many of the homes in the rural areas of Franklin. It also has a tankless water heater. It is nothing like city water that most guests are used to having in their homes. We have note cards placed at the faucet in kitchen, an in bathrooms stating it is necessary to let water run a bit on wide open to get water when taking a shower or doing dishes. The cottage sleeps up to twelve persons and when we have that many guests staying we hope that our guests will space out showers a bit so everyone is not taking showers back to back. We had a guest several weeks ago turn the water heater temperature way too high and caused the next guests at the cottage to really have an uncomfortable situation in the shower. We do have it set at a much lower temperature now to avoid such an unpleasant shower. So happy you enjoyed the setting of the cottage. It is so nice to see and hear the creek running beside the home and the enjoy the peaceful setting of the cottage. The decor is very visible in the photos as it is a country type decor to go with the renovated old church that is now the Creekside cottage that I get to share with all my guests. I hope all guests will enjoy the uniqueness of this very special place. There is a picture on one of the wall showing the church. It is awesome. The location is great although it is a rural area, there are chain grocery stores, Wal-Mart, restaurants, shopping right up the main road. So close to everything including the famous Village of Leiper's Fork, and downtown Franklin, antiquing, places to eat and so many other things to do and see. I look forward to having you as guests once again in my cottage and thanks for recommending it to others as a great place to stay. Hurry back!

The house was beautiful and spacious. Loved the waterfall cascading outside our window.

I would say that the lighting could be better, especially in the master bedroom. The shower was tricky to operate and I'm accustomed to a stronger water pressure. I would also inform future guests that the matressss are really soft so if you prefer a firmer mattress consider ways to firm it up. I don't want to come across as unsatisfied. These are situations we often come across in hotels as well. It's just part of the traveling process. It doesn't distract from the overall experience. Just want future guests to keep this in mind. Overall we were very happy and would probably stay here again if we find ourselves back in the Nashville area.
