1 bedroom, 1 bath, peaceful, private, and beautiful trees
I live in the main house at the front of the property and really enjoy sharing the Cottage with visitors to Nashville. Although I've lived here nearly 30 years I'm still learning new things to see and do all the time.
Why Gwen chose Hillwood
I love this neighborhood for its large lots, beautiful tall trees, quiet streets, and friendly neighbors. Your stay here will feel like being a Nashville resident in a quiet suburban community that is only minutes from all kinds of fun things to see and do.

A Peaceful Nashville Retreat
We have to travel to Nashville several times a year and have stayed mostly at Wyndham Resort or a local hotel. Our stay in the guest house was by far our favorite. So close to everything we needed but like we were in a wooded retreat. Beautiful views from every window. So peaceful and comfortable. Hopefully it will be available for our next trip.
Stayed here while getting my son moved back into Vanderbilt. The place was perfect for my needs, close enough to campus to be convenient, but not so close that I couldn't escape the chaos of move in day. The house itself was perfectly clean, with a well appointed kitchen and Gwen was a wonderful host. My favorite things about the place were the beautiful view of the backyard out the picture window and the size of the bathroom.
Home away from home
I was travelling alone with my teenage daughter and this place was a perfect spot for us. I felt much safer than I would at a hotel! I loved the option of two twins beds in the one bedroom. We had a reason to be in Nashville and this location is just a 15 min drive (6 miles) from the heart of Nashville. Additionally shopping is at the end of the street and Walmart is only 1.3 miles away. I loved that for grabbing a few groceries!
This property is so peaceful and pretty. The trees and yard are just gorgeous. The cottage itself is older, it did have a slight musty odor but that is the only negative. It was amazingly clean! Really was super clean. The bathroom was spotless and the towels were really nice and soft. The sheets were nice and new, pillows were nice too. I did not use the kitchen, just put a few things in the refrigerator. The landlady left some microwave popcorn, nutrigrain bars and creamer/coffee which was great. We will definately look this spot up again if we are in the area. So grateful for our wonderful stay! The landlady is easy to reach and very kind. I had to move my dates around and she was accomodating to this.
It was a pleasure to host Amanda and her daughter for their visit to Nashville. They were very thoughtful guests. They kept me informed about their travel plans and left the Cottage very clean and tidy. I hope they will come back again.
Great quiet place in a pleasant neighbourhood
Communication with Gwen was excellent and she was very helpful when we checked in. Having a key code door lock was good - saved us having to carry another key around.
The apartment is very spacious, with very good kitchen facilities and a variety of provisions left for us. Lounge and bedroom are both very comfortable. WiFi is first rate - almost 100Mbps. Car parking onsite is under cover, which keeps the car cool.
Access to Nashville centre is easy - straight down Charlotte Pike if you don’t want the interstate.
Although there are several restaurants nearby, they were not as good as they could have been - we had a poor meal at Outback Steakhouse. Maybe we were unlucky.
Nice quiet cottage
Close to everything. Great scenery looking out window in back. Only saw Gwen when we checked in. Loved nashville.
Gwen is a gracious host. It’s a quiet location with great parking. Ample seating, clean and spacious for two. A beautiful neighborhood within close proximity to downtown Nashville.
There is an endless array of things to do in Middle Tennessee, from outdoor hiking, paddling, and fishing to downtown shopping, eating, music, and dancing. You can enjoy being out on the Cumberland River downtown with the General Jackson Riverboat dinner theater or the fun Pontoon Saloon. Downtown pedal taverns are very popular with college kids and wedding parties. There is a long list of Civil War sites and gorgeous antebellum homes for the history buffs. Hardly a weekend goes by without some kind of down festival, including arts and crafts, live music, Oktoberfest, Fourth of July, New Year's Eve and more. There are numerous city parks with wonderful nature centers, greenways, and nature trails for walking, bird watching, and photography. Many of the hikes take you to beautiful waterfalls too. The TN Performing Arts Center hosts the full range of music, theater, opera, and dance. I recommend checking out www.visitmusiccity.com for the many choices available in the Nashville area.
