In 1857, a Boston merchant built the 5-story granite and brick building to be used as a warehouse to store merchandise acquired in overseas trade. Over the years, the building was home to, among many others, J. Gibson & Son Liquor Distributors, Pray & Hayes Grocers, Richards Publishing Co., Dexter Bros. Paints and Howe & French, Inc., dealers in chemicals, laboratory supplies, waxes and drugs. In 1872, the building was miraculously spared during the Great Fire of Boston when 776 buildings in Boston were destroyed. The building was converted into Broadluxe Lofts in 2008, a 44-unit luxury loft community.
No smoking. No parties or events. Must be 25 years old to rent (government-issued ID required). The only guests allowed in the loft are those guests who have been disclosed to the host (maximum of 2 adults and 2 kids).
