Walthamstow Market has been in operation since 1885, and it still remains Europe's longest street market, taking up the entire length of the high street. The market stalls sell cheap clothing, hand bags, bric-a-brac, fresh fruit and veg, books and second hand CDs amongst other things, with traders loudly touting their wares to passers-by. The busiest days by far are Fridays and Saturdays when getting from one end of the street to the other can become quite a chore.
