2 Bedroom 2 Bath Sleeps 6.Situated on 2 woodsy acres on Lake Superior.
Both Jim and I grew up in the Chicago area and live in the City now. My husband Jim has been traveling to the North Shore since he was boy and has great memories of his family vacations there. My first trip to the North Shore was just after we were married 15 years ago. I fell in love with area immediately and never wanted our vacations to come to an end.
Becky purchased this House in 2012
Why Becky chose Lutsen
We have been looking for the perfect house and piece of property ever since our first trip up together. Finally our dream came true this past year. Growing up in, and living in Chicago now, we love the fact, that when at Twin Cedars we can't see our neighbors. That was very important to us. We try to get to Twin Cedars every chance we get but in the mean time want to share this beautiful piece of the North Shore with you.
What makes this House unique
I remember vividly my first glimpse of Lake Superior right from the driveway. As I walked down the gentle sloping path into the yard for the first time, I saw a cute little footbridge crossing over a seasonal creek. Not only did I have a beautiful, walkable, ledge rock shore stretching out in front of me but a babbling brook as well. As I strolled up the small creek bed lined with stones and wild roses I realized we had a small Springtime waterfall located just off the deck. This is one of my husbands favorite things to enjoy while grilling. Inside the house is all 'Knotty pine' that gives you that true 'Up North' feeling. This is a 1960's custom built house with lots of fun interesting features. With the updated track lighting you can either do some fine needle work and reading or have a cozy family movie night. Both the Family room and A-Frame have fantastic views of the lake. Just off the A-Fame are a few bird feeders rigged to attract a variety of species and with windows all around being from floor to ceiling the bird watching can be exceptional. It sometimes feels like you are in your own tree house. The Family room has a huge picture window that looks out over the deck and Lake Superior. You can see all the way to the Horizon here.

Great launching off place for North Shore adventures with dogs!
We (2 couples with 2 dogs) had a great time staying at this property. It was even better than described, especially for the dogs, with a fenced-in deck and an endless trail running parallel to Hwy 61 across the street. Our only wish would have been for a 2nd queen sized bed.
We are happy to hear you and your pups enjoyed your stay. Our pups love that trail too. We take it to the ball field next to the town hall so our guys can run and play off leash. Its a great walk and great exercise.
As for the 2nd queen size bed if we put one in the down stairs bedroom a guest couldn't get out of bed in the middle of the night without disturbing the other person in bed with them, so we went for comfort and have a Heavenly Bed mattress. We do have the queen size pullout couch and offer a queen size air bed.
For people that might be wondering, the bed in the Master bedroom is a King size.
Hope you enjoyed all the hiking in the area.
All the best to you,
Perfect North Shore Experience
This was our second visit to Twin Cedars and it was even better than I remembered. The home is so clean and comfortable stocked with everything you need. The property offers such a perfect outdoor experience with the running creek, crashing waves of the lake, the fire pit, and other sitting spots to enjoy the view. We lived every minute!!
Our getaway to Twin Cedars was amazing, we can’t say enough great things about this property! Beautiful, completely private cabin on the banks of Lake Superior. We hike on the North Shore every fall with our dogs and this was by far our favorite place. Close to all the cute towns on 61 and tons of great hiking. We did Devils Kettle, Oberg Mt loop, parts of the SHT and the Kadunce River Trail. Super clean house, you would never know dogs stay there except for all the dog friendly perks. Double gates on the deck, paw towels by the door, adorable dog feeding station and poop pick up bags on the property. It was just the two of us and our dogs but this home is spacious and could easily accommodate a group. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us and our dogs! We will definitely be back!
Thank you so much for such a glowing review. We really appreciate you taking the time to do this for us.
It sounds like you made the most of your time up north. I'm impressed with all your hiking and sight seeing.
Jim and I love to travel with our pups so we try to think of what we have appreciated on our vacations and add them for our guests.
Hope to have you back again soon.
All the best to you and and your family.

Comfy Cozy Cabin
We really enjoyed our time at the cabin. The property was very spacious and private. Would certainly come back!!
4 night stay with dogs
Highly recommend this property! Becky was very responsive and helpful. Property is well thought out for guests and pets. Including pretty much everything you need for cooking and plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the great views along the shoreline. You couldn't be closer to nature. If it rains there is a good selection of books, movies, games and puzzles to keep you busy. Close to multiple state parks and other great hiking trails. Only about 20 minutes to Grand Marais. Our stay with our two dogs was wonderful!
Thank you for such a wonderful review,
We truly appreciate it.
When I read how much people enjoy the property and all of our nook and cranie seating areas it makes all the hard work worth it.
We hope to have you and your family back again sometime.
Thanks so much for staying with us.
It was a pleasure working with you.
A Relaxing Family Vacation
This was our family's annual cabin retreat week and it couldn't have been better! From the cozy cabin to the relaxing shoreline of the big lake and the many surrounding hiking trails, it made for a very positive experience. The property was nestled in the woods overlooking lake superior in a very convenient location. Our dog Beau especially enjoyed his time being with the family up north. Our family enjoyed a day trip to Grand Marais, hiking the Oberg Mountain and Cascade River trails, Devil's Kettle, riding on the Lutsen Gondola, biking/running the Gitchi-Gami trail to Tofte, visiting the nearby winery, spending time in the cabin cooking, reading, playing games and watching movies and beautiful sunrises. Highly recommend!
Wow ! I'm so impressed with everything you did. You hit a lot of our favorites.
We are so happy to hear you enjoyed everything Twin Cedars has to offer and the surrounding area.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review.
Hope to have you back soon.

(Buster and Cal too)
In addition to fantastic scenery and bird watching right off the deck, there are miles of diverse hiking and biking trails that in the winter turn to cross country ski and snow mobile trails.
Just a 5 minute drive from the house is a beautiful water fall down an easy 300 foot path. Or you can choose from many other paths at the same location and take a moderate to more challenging hike and be gone for as long as you want. Many of the Superior Hiking Trail 'heads' are just a stones throw away.
For Downhill Skiers, we are just 2 miles from Beautiful Lutsen Mountain with beginner to Olympic style runs and for Golfers, Superior National Golf Course is 5 minutes away and offers exceptional views as you make your way from Tee to Tee.
